Yeah, building your own rigs has definitely seen a massive surge in popularity lately, especially compared to those overpriced, pre-built branded setups that hit the shelves.

Wait, I haven't been keeping up with anything lately... So this Pentium is actually a Kaby Lake dual-core with Hyperthreading enabled for once? Basically an i3 for $167? 😲

Yeah

Back in the day, they had those Pentium chips with HT when they were still single-core, but honestly, they were just terrible value.

Man, a G4560 + RX 460 combo is about $1000. Honestly, those two might just be the best value duo of all time
.
EDIT: I meant the build using those two 😁

I've been scouring the web looking for an RX 480 8GB, specifically hunting through various marketplaces and auction sites to see what kind of deals are actually out there. It’s like trying to find a decent used car on Craigslist—you know they exist, but you have to sift through a lot of junk to find one that isn't going to break down the moment you drive it home.

It crashed. $67 It happened overnight. One of the best custom RX 480 models is suddenly sitting there at almost the lowest price point available.

😲

With this, even the GTX 1060 needs to drop its price a bit; otherwise, it's a tough sell compared to the RX 470 for under $533 or the RX 480 4GB and 8GB models priced below 1900 and $733.

Man, pairing a Pentium with an RX 470 Nitro is the absolute sweet spot right now—if you can find the right balance.

EDIT

Is anyone looking for an Ivy Bridge CPU? I know some people aren't big on buying used gear, or maybe they just haven't had any luck hunting one down.

Damn, now that's actually a decent deal.

What do you guys think a used G3220 goes for these days?

$100 if we aren't talking about a Pentium with HT 😁

HT EDIT : Oops, I guess it could also be an i3 😛

In that case, maybe around 400-$150.

For real though, is it a G3220 or an i3 3220? 😁

My bad, I was thinking about the i3. Forgot there's a Pentium with the same model number

Thanks!

Thinking about an upgrade, what do you guys think?

Just one rule: never, under any circumstances, pay upfront. Even if you don't actually plan to, just ask if you can swing by to see it in person. If they start making up wild excuses to avoid a face-to-face meeting...

hmm, I’m a little skeptical about $167

An upgrade isn't exactly urgent, but it would definitely extend my PC's lifespan. The catch is that the 3350p is $65 without tax, and if I can snag an i3 3220 for around $35-$167, that sounds like a solid move.

Driving out to > costs money, and I'm not about to buy a CPU without seeing it running first.

16GB USB drive for $6.25, supposedly slow according to some, but honestly, who cares at that price point?

Limit of 2 per customer.

I picked this up from Best Buy the other day... honestly, I didn't even realize it was on sale. I already own both the G300 and the G300s, and to be perfectly blunt, I haven't noticed any meaningful hardware improvements. If anything, the scroll wheel feels a bit worse to me—kind of heavy and cheap. That said, the key layout is fantastic; personally, it’s my favorite
. The only one that seems to feel better than this is the GX Gila.
