"Don't listen to those pop-country singers, just die a natural death!"—that was the sentiment being pushed at my high school, and honestly, I find myself agreeing with them... no offense intended, of course!

Folksy country music is basically just the latest trend, right up there with rap and all those other musical fads that burn out way too fast...
I mean, sure, you’ll find some talented artists in the mix (though let's be real, finding decent songwriters is a whole different story 😬), but at the end of the day, capitalism runs the entire show in the music industry, whether you're looking at it from New York to LA...

Folk music is basically just the latest trendy fad, kind of like how rap used to be.

Look at rap. It's been around for 20 years. Look at Blackout—if they aren't one of the oldest club promoters out there, they're definitely up there. They just hit their 12th anniversary of killing it, and that's in a small market like this...
don't hate, just show some respect
sorry, getting a bit off topic

Aha, just take a second to actually wrap your head around how much hip-hop has shifted from twenty years ago to right now, then maybe go back and give my previous post another read—this time, try actually finishing it 😉

Honestly, turbo folk and this mainstream commercial rap are basically two sides of the same coin—in terms of quality, at least. If you look at what turbo folk represents here, its American equivalent is definitely rap; I think even Bregović mentioned something similar during an interview on some TV show once. There’s really no discernible difference between a sixteen-year-old kid acting all high and mighty listening to someone like Ja Rule versus them blasting Mile Kitić... it's all the same.
Now, don't get me wrong—I find myself heading out to country music bars every now and then. I am fully aware that the music is absolute garbage, but frankly, I just don't care because the atmosphere is great—it's all about the dancing, the laughs, and just having a good time...
I also noticed someone complaining about people blasting country music from their cars lately. Personally, I never judge anyone for what they blast in their ride, but again—what's the actual difference if someone is cranking country music instead of something else? It honestly baffles me... people complain about someone having their windows down while playing country hits, telling them to "have some class," yet nobody says a word about the folks blaring techno or rap... as if those genres are somehow more sophisticated or acceptable.

Let’s be real here: turbo folk is trash, rap is trash, pop is trash... but people listen to it, and we have to accept that. At the end of the day, you can't argue with taste.

you're totally right... country, Rachmaninoff, Tom Waits, Public Enemy—it's all the same stuff to me.

p.s. I listen to whatever the kids are into!

Half of you guys act like you're too cool for country music in public, but then you're blasting it at home when nobody's watching.

Like the song says:
The ones who claim they hate it most
are the ones who know every single lyric
because they’re the first ones out there
grabbing a drink and singing along once the party starts... I don't get it...😁

But honestly? It's just the best music for letting loose.
I mean, what's a wedding without some country tunes? Without it, it's basically a funeral.

There are plenty of all sorts of people here, so I figured I'd see what you guys think about this...

I'm reading The New York Times right now and saw a headline saying some Seka Aleksić is the new "queen of NFL fans"😵... apparently, she packed 3,000 people into a concert in Miami.

Man, it feels like you can't escape this pop-country/folk stuff anymore...

I wonder what's so appealing about that kind of entertainment? It used to be that this music was just for certain types—you know, the guys with massive gold chains hanging from their necks, coming out of the rougher parts of town. Mostly construction workers from Canada, Gypsies (not trying to be derogatory toward anyone there), Janjevce, and so on.

But lately, it seems like literally everyone is into it...
It’s almost impossible to go out to a party nowadays without someone cranking up some loud, twangy track and having the whole room lose it. You hear trashy country songs playing from cars at every turn...
I'll head down to a local neighborhood bar one night and they're blasting total garbage. And it's crazy—just kids, maybe 16 to 19 years old... they all know every single lyric by heart...

It's basically become normal to end up in an Asylum, a Pasha club, or whatever else by 4 or 5 in the morning...

I mean... I'd actually love it if a fan of this stuff could explain it to us.
Maybe I'm just slow, or maybe I just don't get it... What is the draw? I've lost count of how many times I've heard, "If you want to hook up this weekend, go to a Pasha..." 😵

Look, I'm not dismissing it entirely... you can occasionally find some decent lyrics or a catchy melody😬 but honestly, 90% of it feels like pure hillbilly nonsense—just low-brow, mindless fluff... 😢
The lyrics are so dumb they make your head spin... choruses written by someone with an IQ of 22...
I don't know... I have this good friend who hosts these drinking parties at his place, and then around 2 AM... he starts playing this exact kind of music. 😢

Pop-country and folk aren't even the same thing.

Anyway, I'm not sure why everyone is so shocked. In my opinion, this kind of regional music isn't anything out of the ordinary for us. Of course, you're wondering... why now? Well, it's been about ten years since things settled down after the big conflicts, and we aren't in such intense tension with our neighbors anymore. A few years back, this would have been taboo for most people—God forbid you played a certain type of song in a pub during the war, they probably would have crucified you...
Now that things are cooling off, people are drifting back to that regional sound... nothing new there...
That's just how I see it...

I just hope this doesn't turn into some huge political debate... 😢

Exactly! 👍

And this whole thing Bayern Munich is talking about? Good grief. Imagine if I actually got to witness a wedding that wild and festive joyful—maybe featuring a setlist from Azoth or some other group, you know, those beautiful, melancholy bands led by some rickety, balding albino vocalist and six guitars singing poetic lyrics about sipping tea and drowning in crumbs.

Do you know why people get married...? Most of them... as the old-school traditionalists say, "Is there a deadline?" 😬

Either marry me, or buy me a drum, because I’ve got to hit something! ☕

Hahaha... 😂

When I finally tie the knot, I want a bluegrass band playing until midnight, a brass band at 1:00 AM, and then a Ramones cover band to carry us through until sunrise... 😳

🤣 🤣 🤣

I claim to have an open mind too, but I draw the line at that low-brow, trashy country garbage... I never have listened to that backward, utterly mindless drivel some people actually call music, nor do I ever intend to.

I can stomach just about anything—house, rock, punk, even jazz—but I won't touch that pathetic, howling nonsense.😉

There isn't enough whiskey in all of America to make that sound tolerable to me.👎 👎

Look, I listen to all kinds of stuff, but that trashy, bottom-of-the-barrel pop garbage? No way... I never have and I never will. I can't stomach that pathetic, backward excuse for "music" people try to pass off as art...

I can handle anything else, man... house, rock, punk, even jazz... but this absolute sludge with its fake whining? Not happening.😉

Honestly, you could drown me in enough bourbon to kill a horse and I still wouldn't be able to sit through it.👎 👎

Alright kid, take a seat. Reading your comments, it’s pretty obvious you haven't even hit double digits yet.
And don't start lecturing me about alcohol when your idea of a wild night is a Shirley Temple.
