Then we can discuss how "beneficial" it actually is for your health or your teeth.
Cola is basically liquid acid.👎

I didn't even realize anyone had posted such nonsense, so I just lumped it in with the other myths. 🤣

Fine, go ahead and leave some rusty nails in a bottle of Cola. After one night, the rust will be gone; after two nights, there won't even be any nails left.😲

Oh my god... seriously? "Why are you acting so high and mighty just because you have a degree?" That’s called being an expert! It’s called spending years actually studying the subject matter... and honestly, I’d way rather trust a chemist or a biochemist any day...
It’s just like telling a dentist—"You don't need to fix my tooth just because you went to school, I'll just read some instructions online and do it myself." Like, hello??
Btw, I don't drink Cola because I just don't like it, but it's not like my liver is going to fail the second I take a sip... plus, one time a while back, I left an Exer in my mug at work... and yeah, it stayed gross forever after that...

Chicago Bulls said:I don't care if you have a degree 😵 It’s just how much you're flexing it... I’m telling you, aspartame (especially when mixed with cyclamates) is way worse for you than actual sugar. So, since you're clearly some chemistry genius, enlighten me. WHY AM I WRONG?

And why is regular soda better? Because damn it, it uses real sugar—which is exactly the point I was making. Plus, it actually tastes better...

Sure, eating 10 kg of aspartame would be more lethal than eating 10 kg of sugar, but nobody consumes aspartame in those quantities. You can't compare them like they're apples and oranges.

If someone is trying to watch their weight and wants zero calories, they'll go for a Diet Coke, which isn't any worse than the regular stuff.
I don't touch Cola or anything like it, but if I had to pick, I'd always go for the diet version because too much sugar in drinks just doesn't sit right with me. Not trying to speak for everyone here, just my take. 😁

And honestly, thank God we have chemists and biochemists posting here; it’s actually useful to be able to learn something from people who know what they're talking about. 😉

nimbledriver81 said:Good grief, where on earth do you people come from? How can someone claim something is practically zero calories while being fat? Is there a farm involved? Some kind of bulls? Or just better chemicals?

I finally realized—well, I think... it felt like they were just trying to call me a fat cow... that's the only thing that (kind of) makes sense! Honestly, if this sub actually had decent moderators, maybe I’d at least get a little reprimand for that...

Look, she clearly doesn't know you personally—like, at all. She has no clue what you look like. It's just typical internet nonsense—just throwing insults around without any actual logic, just for the hell of it. 😎

The funny part? This "attempted insult" came from the same person who asked me to send her a copy of the Journal of Psychiatric Research the other day—but only IF it had some kind of hidden cryptogram inside, because apparently, she loves solving those. Or so she claims. 😁

See, those are the only real arguments people throw at us—those who love to "flex their degrees" to shut us down. 🙄 It is so much easier for folks to swallow a flashy commercial than to actually use a bit of common sense. Using common sense requires those tiny little gray matter cells to actually fire, which, let's be honest, can be quite a tall order sometimes!

By the way, to all the critics out there: Rachel Brooks63 is not fat. In fact, she looks absolutely stunning in person.

My stomach was absolutely wrecking me recently. I spent three days surviving on nothing but Coca-Cola and pretzels. I didn't die or anything, but honestly, that was the only thing I could even think about putting in my body. Usually, I drink way less Cola in an entire year than I just did in a single day.

Anyway, I'm assuming Diet Coke still lists a calorie count. It has to be caloric to some degree because even lemon water has calories. There’s a reason "light" versions exist—if you chugged fifteen hectoliters of water a day, you'd actually blow your daily calorie limit, for crying out loud.

It lists the calorie count, just like any other diet drink. I don't have one handy to check right now, but off the top of my head: we're talking maybe one calorie per liter. It's practically nothing.

Look, the calorie count on lemon water is basically irrelevant since you can't possibly drink enough of it to actually gain weight. Besides, there’s always a light version. 😁

The first time I actually heard someone say that was back in the States—on a flight, this guy sitting right next to me asks for a "Diet Water."

Oh, please.... it's not like I need to step in and protect you guys from all the mindless nonsense, right?

You're all perfectly capable of handling that yourselves—and pretty efficiently, too.

Besides... I'm basically the only one actually working around here. Dave never contributes anything, and I think our resident College Student is still holding out on submitting her resignation...

Coca-Cola has 42 calories per 100ml, while Diet Coke is only 0.2.
I went to grab a regular one because my stomach is absolutely killing me, so I actually forced myself to read the label instead of being lazy.

There it is.

Anyway, does anyone know why Diet Coke is the only thing that actually helps when my stomach is acting up? It’s literally the only thing I can even think about drinking right now, even though I don't usually drink it.

Kimberly Davis52 said:Hey, does anyone actually know why Diet Coke hits the spot when my stomach is absolutely killing me? It’s honestly the only thing I can even imagine drinking right now... and I don't even drink it that often normally.

I have zero clue, but I do know that whenever I'm dealing with diarrhea—for those who prefer the "polite" term, you know—it works for me. Every time it happens, and I'm spending way too much time stuck in the bathroom, I just knock back half a liter and it stops pretty fast. But yeah, I have no idea why that is either...

It’s funny you say that, because people have actually told me I must be some sort of total pig in real life just because I happen to know a lot about nutrition and healthy eating. 😕 It is such a bizarre way of thinking, isn't it? People love to jump to those weird conclusions...
Don't mention it! 😉

My stomach was killing me with these sharp pains about two or three hours ago. I went out to grab some Coca-Cola and pretzels—I was starving, and there’s this amazing cake in the fridge, but I can't even touch it 😢—and honestly, I don't feel great, though it's not the absolute worst either. I'm just bored. That's why I'm rambling here. I really should be listening to those crazy people, but instead, I'm stuck here rotting because I'm freaking out that someone's gonna get a little too aggressive with the referee and then all hell is gonna break loose 😢

That does the trick for me too whenever my stomach is acting up. I honestly have no clue why, but it actually works...
