I'm about 5'5" and maybe 120 pounds, so I know I'm pretty thin 🙄

My BMI says I'm right where I should be for a guy, but honestly? I’m not feeling it. My gut is definitely an issue—I've got this stubborn fat sticking around that just won't budge. I'm staying on top of my diet, hitting at least two hours of activity a day, and I cut out late dinners ages ago. No sugar, no soda either—just water and unsweetened tea, which I drink about 5 liters of daily... but man, that belly still isn't flattening out.😕
Forget the crunches—they aren't doing squat. You gotta burn the fat first before you even think about targeting those abs.
Help me out, guys—anyone got some real advice?😕

I’m extremely disciplined about what I eat, I make sure to stay active for at least two hours every single day, I cut out heavy dinners a long time ago, I don't touch sugar, and I don't drink juice—it's strictly water and unsweetened tea, which adds up to about five liters a day...

That sounds incredibly intense, yet you still seem unhappy with the results.

Honestly, looking at your height and weight, I don't think you even need to worry, though if you feel like your body composition is off, my trainers at the local gym always insisted that core work was the best way to tone up, and there are endless variations of exercises you could mix together.
Or maybe just cut back on the beer. 🙂

Honestly, I don't think you really need to sweat it, given your height and weight. But if things aren't sitting quite right... at my local gym, they always pushed sit-ups as the go-to for toning—there's a ton of different exercises you can mix and match, too.
Or just cut back on the beer. 🙂

Everything I mentioned works wonders for me. It’s way easier dealing with a light dinner where you aren't fighting heartburn afterward. I love staying hydrated, but I don't touch beer at all😬 since I'm teetotal. Plus, I’m big into cycling, so I definitely don't want to mess up my performance on the road.

Anyway, when the weather is nice, a 50-50 miles mile intense ride is basically nothing to me—just part of the routine. I know biking won't magically fix a gut, but I still want to burn calories so those last 2-3 pounds of belly fat disappear (at least, that's what "Dr. Med." over here thinks). Just as long as I don't start losing muscle mass...

Yeah, you're right: it's mostly about how things are distributed. Like I said, my "gut is poorly distributed," but again—I honestly don't think hitting the gym is going to do much for me here.

This basic way of calculating BMI completely ignores your actual body composition. You should probably just head to a doctor or an occupational health specialist—someone who actually knows their stuff—to get a real reading.
Because those pros use much more sophisticated methods, looking at way more variables than just weight and height—they’ll factor in things like body fat percentage through several different metrics.

That way, you don't end up with someone who's, say, 5'5" and 100 lbs, but still carries way too much fat relative to their muscle mass...

I love staying hydrated, but I don't touch beer at all😬 since I'm strictly non-alcoholic. Plus, I'm big into cycling, so the last thing I want is a shaky ride out on the road.

When the weather is nice, 50-50 miles mile intense rides are basically nothing to me—just my standard routine. I know cycling doesn't target belly fat specifically, but I still want to burn calories so those extra 2-3 pounds of gut fat finally disappear (or so my "medical degree" tells me)... but they just won't budge...

Yeah, you're right: it's mostly about a bad schedule. In my case, like I said, my "gut is poorly scheduled," but again—I honestly feel like hitting the gym wouldn't get me anywhere at all.

Just stick with the cardio because you definitely need to drop some weight somehow. You can't really control the schedule, that's just how it is. Abs will help a little—they might not shrink your waistline per se, but they'll firm up the muscle. Just keep up the cardio and watch the calories.

What really gets to me is how that same weight just... redistributes itself over the years—those extra pounds start migrating from the places we actually want them to be to everywhere else...😁
Like, my mom has been the exact same weight for 50 years, but she went from being this skinny teenager to, well, having a bit of a mom bod.
Sorry, Mom...😘

Dorothy, by the time you hit your late 20s, you start losing muscle mass and gaining fat if you aren't staying active or hitting the gym. So it's totally possible to weigh less than you did at 18, but it’s more fat than muscle—which doesn't look great.

Your mom's situation doesn't have to happen to you... you know what you need to do.

I’m standing at 5'10" and weighing about 128 lbs—and yes, I am indeed a woman 😁.

The scale just won't budge upward. 🙂😁

Because those pros use much more sophisticated methods—they aren't just looking at weight vs. height, they’re factoring in three or four other body fat measurements too.

That's how you end up with someone who's 5'5" and 100 lbs but actually has way too much body fat compared to muscle mass and stuff like that.

I finally decided to get serious about my weight too—even though I actually look pretty good right now (not that I'm complaining! Honestly, I’m kind of proud of my curves, I've got a great bust 😍 😳 and a firm backside 😍 😳 )
