We've been watching your overclocking results, so we figured it was time to share some of our own.
🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

Intel Core i7
P4 2.8Ghz Prescoot
Corsair 2x512MB 500Mhz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX, PCI Express
ATI Turbine 5800RPM, 2John Doe koji nije zadovoljio moja očekivanja.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX, PCI Express
ATI Turbine 5800RPM, 2John Doe koji nije zadovoljio moja očekivanja.
Running at 3.6Ghz, temp is 51C, which is pretty standard. Noticed better performance while rendering in 3Ds Max.
Here is how things look in Windows Ultimate:
Memory read test: 7630MB/s
Memory write test: 5446MB/s

GIGABYTE GA-8N-SLI
P4 630 3.0Ghz 800Mhz FSB
Corsair 2x512MB DDR2 800Mhz
Cooler Master
Raptor HDD 2 x 74.5GB, 10.000RPM (Paralell)
2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX, SLI
Corsair RM750 (Intel Hyper-Threading), SLI Ready
Running at 4.228Mhz, CPU Clock Speed=1.625V

🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
The only issue is we can't set up water or compressor cooling yet. If we did, the performance would be much higher.

To be clear, that temperature was recorded during CPU Load. Plus, my PC is sitting right next to a solid fuel heater. 😈 Just so you know, when I'm on Idle, it runs at 40C. That's because I tossed that piece of junk ATI card in the trash and picked up a Cooler Master instead.🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

I noticed there’s some skepticism here, so I figured I'd just show the proof myself. I don't want anyone calling things "unbelievable" later on like the esteemed rustydriver22 did!🙂 🙂 😎 👍 😠 Just imagine what happens once I install the EVGA (compressor cooling) unit.

For anyone who still thinks this looks "unbelievable," take a look at the photo.

rustydriver22, watch your tone—I've dealt with enough of this stuff to know what I'm talking about.

Can anyone tell me if this setup is actually worth the asking price? I'm mainly looking to get some gaming done here:

AMD Athlon, nForce4, socket 939, FSB HT2000, 4xDDR/400 dual channel, PCI Express x16, PCI-Ex4, 2xPCI-Ex1, 3xPCI, 133*2+SATA 3Gb/s*4+SATA*4, RA

AMD Athlon64 3000+ BOX (64-bit, integrated memory controller, 512K L2 on-chip cache), Socket 939

DDR 512 MB PC 3200 (DDR400) Kingmax, Apple, Intel - brand name

GECUBE X550XT 256 MB, PCI Express, 128 bit DDR2 HyperMemory 512 MB, DVI+VGA+TV-OUT, VPU: 400 MHz, mem.clock:533 MHz

Western Digital, Caviar 80 GB, WD800JB, 9 ms, 8MB, Ultra ATA/100, DATALifeguard, 23Mb/sec, 7200rpm, EIDE, 3 YEAR warranty

MSI MIDI VENUS SILVER 4HA-0207-2-400W - MSI MIDI TOWER, SECC METAL, USB 2.0, AUDIO IN I OUT, 400W POWER SUPPLY WITH TWO 8CM FANS

and also an Asus DVD+RW/drw-1608p3s, retail, dual layer.

I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know if there's anything else I should add, or if there's any particular component here that looks questionable, assuming I want to stay within a similar budget.

No, but you can see for yourself it's running at 45 degrees.

Hey everyone, does anyone here happen to have a setup similar to this Kawasaki 😬 P4 box 3.0, 1MB 800MHz? Under the hood, I've got a Gigabyte 8IPE775-G—it's a 775, i865PE, SATA build—and tucked on the side, there's 2x512 SuperRAM Kingmax PC3200 at 400MHz...

So, basically, has anyone actually had any luck overclocking that P4?

I'm wondering if there's any way to get more overclocking out of this chip and how to go about it. Every time I try pushing the CPU FSB past 215MHz, Windows just won't boot properly.

You either slow down the memory or hunt down some damn fast RAM so you can keep that FSB:RAM ratio at 1:1. Otherwise, you’re stuck dropping the FSB to match the RAM.

Can you walk me through how to actually do that? Like, what should I be setting my memory to?

That motherboard isn't exactly built for overclocking. It might be the culprit here. I noticed it's using GoodRAM with CL3 chips, which should technically perform better, but I think you've just hit the ceiling with that CPU. Even though it's known for being a cheap little beast when it comes to overclocking, it simply won't go any further.

So I guess that's it then. I won't be getting any more speed out of this unless someone knows a different way to go about it.🙄

I'm looking to overclock my PC, but I'll be honest, I'm a little out of my depth here and don't really know where to start.
Here is what I'm working with:
CPU: AMD Sempron 2200+ (1500 MHz) with a 100 FSB
Motherboard: Asrock K7VT4A Pro
RAM: 2x256 DDR333
Multiplier: 9x

Is it actually possible to overclock a Pentium Core duo?
For instance, if I have a Core Duo running at 2.4 GHz, how much headroom would I realistically have to push it on a standard Asus motherboard?

Thanks!

thx..

I guess you can overclock anything, but there’s really no point in pushing a Core 2 Duo. It feels like overkill, and you'd probably just end up breaking it.

Would anyone be so kind as to provide a few links to processor reviews? I am looking to conduct a thorough comparison between AMD and Intel Core 2 Duo performance.

A Core Duo isn't a Pentium. There is only the Pentium dual core (though even some of those aren't technically Pentiums, stores just label them that way), Core 2 Duo is an entirely new processor line. The "Pentium" name belongs to the past.
And yes, I'd say it's a mistake not to overclock a C2D. These chips have massive potential, regardless of which model you pick.

P4 3,2; 478, Prescott. I think I read somewhere that his operating temp hits around 73.2 or maybe 72.3, which is... well, you know, pretty hot.
I was wondering, at what temperature would that processor actually melt?
I mean, I joke about throwing a BBQ on it sometimes, but I'm genuinely curious..
