If they hadn't censored Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis—which, honestly, they totally should've left alone—we’d have a clear winner right now with at least 10 votes. It was experimental but actually pretty smooth... definitely something that could've brought new people to the table.

My Van is heading out later today.

Probably just because the mods have a massive grudge against Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis—honestly.

I’ve been saying this from day one—we need to switch things up and vote on the best songs by decade instead of just focusing on albums. Honestly, I'm pretty sure we'd end up with twice the candidates and four times the amount of posts.

Honestly, I’ve always been super picky about people suggesting albums to me—ever since I can remember. Back in high school, whenever CDs were a thing, I felt like everyone was just trying to borrow mine instead of actually sharing music. The only exception was this one guy I used to snag some punk records from. Otherwise, I’ve always had to hunt for my own stuff—just how I am, I guess. Songs are different though—I don't know why, but they hit differently.

So, I guess we’re all tasked with coming up with a new way to keep things fun. What Fass is suggesting—voting for the best song of the year or decade—is actually a pretty solid idea, but if anyone else has a different thought, please don't be shy about sharing it 😁

Locking this thread at midnight...
we’ve officially hit album #121.

Since we already have 5 albums sitting in the queue from that batch, we’re skipping new suggestions this week.
We need to wait until everyone finishes writing the intros for those on the waiting list. Until the topics actually pop up.

What?

I’ve got two albums ready to go, and since we're basically in "Christmas Week" where everyone suggests holiday stuff, I was actually gonna pitch two different Christmas albums by the same artist.

Why are you guys doing this to me!? 🙂

EDIT: Oh, okay, I get it now—this is just temporary. How about we do a Christmas Special one week where we only take holiday albums? If someone managed to get two Bruce Springsteen albums in, I should be allowed two too. 😳

Personally, I’ve always been incredibly resistant to anyone else’s album recommendations; honestly, ever since I can remember, back when CDs were first being handed out in high school, people would basically just borrow them from me. The only exception was some punk stuff I’d grab from one specific guy. I’ve always felt like I had to hunt for my own music. But songs... it’s different with songs, for some reason...

I don't mind picking up suggestions from others if I see our tastes actually align.

As for the idea itself, you could always just start the thread yourself. There isn't any rule saying the moderators have to be the ones running these little games.

No way, man—Dila and analogbear40 already tackled that, and I know firsthand how much of a headache it was. I just can't deal with that kind of mess. It takes way too much digging and you have to be totally unbiased, plus half the genres out there don't even interest me to begin with.

Locking the thread at midnight...
we've officially hit album #121.

Since we already have five albums sitting in the queue, we’re skipping new suggestions this week—
we need to wait until everyone finishes writing the intros for those on standby. We wait until the threads actually go live.

Look, I know I’m risking a ban or a reprimand here, but shutting things down isn't the answer. The real solution would be for you to either step away from moderating this subforum or actually participate meaningfully in this thread.

When I got back, I reacted the way I did because you’ve never actually stuck to the rule about opening threads on time—not that anyone noticed when Fass and I called you out on it simultaneously. Since then, others have picked up that exact same habit. My suggestion was simple: if you don't open the thread on schedule, you shouldn't be suggesting albums or voting. But of course, that wasn't even considered. So, what's the endgame? Last week, you were busy trying to rewrite the rules and ended up suggesting—no less than—two of the most vital albums in Bruce Springsteen's entire discography, and naturally, you didn't even open the thread. Now you're acting surprised that people are saying the thread has gone dead...

It reminds me a bit of the heroine in this song...

I was actually hoping to suggest that album this week...🙂

I get where you're coming from regarding Nebraska, but do you seriously think The River is one of the top two?

In any case, he’s overrated—just like Springsteen himself and his entire body of work. He's basically just the Balašević of New Jersey.

Maybe the people aren't the issue. It’s just that time is moving way too fast lately. 😳

brightwolf48 said:My suggestion was pretty straightforward: if someone doesn't get the thread started on time, they shouldn't be allowed to suggest an album or cast a vote anymore. That part hasn't really been considered yet.

I am 100% on board with that.

I’d take it a step further and say there should be a hard 24-hour deadline to open the thread once the voting wraps up.

It would bring a much-needed sense of order to the whole process.

IMHO.

I’d also suggest setting a hard deadline where any new thread has to be opened within 24 hours of the vote wrapping up.

At least then we might actually see some semblance of order around here...

Just my two cents.

Maybe we should start issuing formal violations too.

I mean, I kind of agree that The River is overrated, but saying that about Nebraska and his entire discography feels like a bit of a stretch☕

Exactly. 🙂

Thanks for all the comments, everyone.

It's not about whether threads get opened on time—we aren't going to punish anyone over that kind of nonsense. The real issue is the vibe being created by all this constant whining and complaining. Very few people feel like participating, and even fewer want to actually post when the atmosphere is this toxic.

We'll be back sometime soon...

You asked, you got it. It’s officially themed day for Christmas albums! I'm not taking any other suggestions for this one, and honestly, this is probably the last time we'll ever pick an album like this... anyway, let's go 🙂

Filthy Phil and Fast Eddie "Naughty Old Santa's Christmas Classics"

Just a heads up, I'm not really sure about the exact year this came out. It showed up for sale back in 1989, but since Eddie left the band in 1982, I guess it's pretty unlikely that it actually dates all the way back to '89.

image

A1 The Coming Of Naughty Old santa
A2 The Sheep song ( While Shep's )
A3 Away in a Manger
A4 The First Noel
A5 god Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
B1 12 Day's of Christmas
B2 jingl Bells
B3 WE Three Kings
B4 Away in a Manger
B5 Christmas 1939 (Cabbage Crates Over The Briny)

The main headache here is that there isn't a single YouTube link with the full tracklist, and the whole album isn't just one big file, either. So, I guess I just have to lay it out like this, damn it.

I was fully planning on sitting through every single album from start to finish for this Christmas special. But yeah, nope. Not happening.

As for bad Religion (listened to everything), I can't tell if it’s a tribute or just straight-up mockery, but man, those tracks actually sound pretty killer in a punk rock style.

Then I moved on to this next album and bailed right after the third track. It’s just pure, blasphemous nonsense 👎 I honestly can't torture myself like that 🕺
