Man, this poll is getting absolutely wild. We started with four totally disastrous bands on there, but now it’s split—two are sinking like stones while the other two are sitting right at the top. 🤦 Honestly, if I had to start tearing into them after the voting ends, I wouldn't even know where to begin. But hey, I have to admit, it’s a blast watching it unfold. Since it's an open poll, the sheer weight of popular opinion is going to take over, which is something I’ve never really been a fan of. As far as my picks go, most of them are cruising along just fine, except for one outlier. I'm feeling pretty good about it so far.

What's so catastrophic about them? If you're gonna drag The Kinks like that, you're getting ignored.--😁

They aren't. They were honestly a potential fifth candidate for me, but in the end, I just couldn't bring myself to vote for them.

My second candidate is already sitting at number 9. My first one is up at 8. The other two seem way weaker—I honestly can’t wrap my head around why, but whatever.

Not everyone is going to get what music means to someone like me, so don't waste your energy trying to explain it...

I mean, obviously. This is just some casual entertainment for me; I'm not taking any of this to heart.

That’s exactly what I was trying to tell you, northerndrifter42—don't sweat what everyone else thinks. You've already got great taste and the right arguments to back it up, and honestly, that's enough.

I think you’ve got things mixed up—I'm pretty sure it wasn't some specialist suggesting the elephant musicians or Miles Davis, but actually the other way around.

You think I wasn't paying attention? 🙂 Believe whatever they tell you!

The Cure is dropping next week. It’s a good one. A really solid album, too. I used to spin it all the time back in the day, so revisiting it will be a nice trip down memory lane. Now, Mila’s jazz fusion stuff isn't really my cup of tea. I’ve always preferred her more post-bop or modal vibes. Still, I gave this one my vote because it’s genuinely great. I even split my votes here and there. It's been an interesting week with plenty of big names and heavy-hitting albums.

I remember you, Dennis Martin6, calling Get up with IT a monumental masterpiece—so, since it was decked out in that elephantine album art with Arthur Brown6's signature colored font, I figured exactly what I figured.

I’ve been drowning in literature lately, so given how brutally confident you are, I’m dedicating a Shakespeare classic—to myself—😁:

-
Ah, to whom did you give thanks,
you vain human pride?
The more you spread your wings,
the harder you shall fall!
-

Yeah, I stumbled upon Airin epizoda in the life of a traveling painter purely by accident, and then it hit me that you were the one who crowned him a great author. I totally agree. It's sublime, otherworldly prose.

You made a solid guess, but those two jerks just played that card perfectly and totally blindsided us. I have to admit—they played it brilliantly 😁

Disintegration is easily The Cure's crowning achievement. For so many people, it’s tied to those incredible memories from their concert in Denver back in May of '89... unfortunately, that's not my story, much to my own regret... but I guess I have no one to blame but myself here. 😠

On the flip side, I dealt with a massive letdown when I headed over to RCA Records to pick up their LP release... honestly, I don't think any official licensed vinyl has ever sounded quite that terrible—it's practically legendary at this point for all the wrong reasons. 🙄

Arthur Brown6 clearly runs things around here, and honestly, I’m trying to do the same thing by keeping my album description short and sweet. 🙏
I was thinking about calling my record a colorful postcard from the Middle East because that’s how it hits me, but since the label says it’s more like the Mediterranean, I didn't want to cause any confusion. 😁

That would sound pretty cool, honestly. Plus, some parts of the Middle East overlap with the Eastern Mediterranean anyway, so...

Oh sure, I’m so "influential" at this point that my reach probably extends into the Atlantic, if not every ocean on the map.

As for Milesa, this was the move:

"worldbeat fusion

Get with Milesa, even if it feels a bit premature."

Short and sweet. Much like the album itself. Brief, punchy, and easy to digest. 😁

I managed to nail Puky, Fass, the dollar, Jessica Morris6, analogbear40, and redbear12

I think I mixed up Arthur Brown6 and Dennis Martin6—kind of like how I was absolutely certain Dark was the one who suggested Type o ' negativ Disintegration😁

Anyway, Disintegration should be dropping any day now🙂

I feel bad for Buckelya, but clearly, I just didn't see it coming

Charles Ramos4 said:You hit the nail on the head—those two jokers played their cards perfectly and totally blindsided us. Gotta hand it to them, they pulled it off. 😁

Clearly they’re cooking up some schemes behind our backs—schemes too complex for us plain-old, salt-of-the-earth Americans to grasp. If I didn't know better, I'd say they—just like Jessica Morris6 and me recently—had completely lost the plot. 😁

But they haven't. I'm certain of it. It's more like authenticity is running through their veins, so they just flipped the script—instead of turning on each other, they both decided to come for US at the exact same time. Honestly, it feels like they're channeling those nihilistic vibes from a Dostoevsky novel. Might even be an avant-garde strike against Culture, testing out how a guerrilla underground outfit operates in a digital space. 😁
