(if only. working Saturday. 🙂)

Hey, you and Dennis Martin6—guessing you two are the biggest fans of this stuff—can someone explain how you actually listen to these wavy, ambient, drugstore-trip vibes? And I don't mean "how dare you," I mean is there some kind of psychological prep needed for music like this? I just don't get it. Some music guru suggested this wonder to me a month ago, and after 15 minutes, I seriously wanted to jump out a window. Thank god I shut it off, because even Metallica wouldn't land on this!

This latest set is probably the weirdest one yet—it’s like some massive compendium of global music history from the Middle Ages to now, man.

It’s not that I don't want to, I'm just switching things up and moving. I'll be stuck with pretty limited internet access for a while...

Just grab a subscription from T-Mobile. You get 20 gigs plus unlimited calls around $40. ☕

It’s got nothing to do with the gigs, man. They just want to mess around—I’m telling you, they're only looking for trouble.😁

Nothing like that yet. I’ve already got a cheaper plan (and honestly, I won't be getting hooked on being online all day every single 🙂 anyway...)

And yeah, thanks for the constructive criticism too—maybe the second round will go a bit smoother.

So, here’s the list of nominees from the last round:

Aksak Maboul - Onze danses pour combattre la migraine (1977) ... Arthur Brown6
Bob Dylan - Desire (1976) ... Amanda Robinson4
Bon Jovi - Bon Jovi (1984) ... Gerald Jackson48
Can - Tago maga (1971) ... Dennis Martin6
Gal Halid - Hajde da se drogiramo (1990) ... Jessica Morris6
Harumi - Harumi (1968) ... cosmiccobra2
Hildegard von Bingen - Hortus Deliciarum (12 tracks) ... Lisa Davis46
Michael Jackson - Thriller (1982) ... Crow89
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (1991) ... quietbison86
R.E.M. - Hi Infidelity (1980) ... kvekukvaku
Tool - Lateralus (2001) ... Jason Mendoza
Various - Various - Rijeka-Paris-Texas (1987) ... analogbear40

I was pretty sure cosmiccobra2 had put forward Thriller 😲
Was Tool suggested by Amanda Robinson4 or Jason Mendoza? 😁

That unlimited data plan slows down after about 60GB, so it's honestly not a great substitute for a real home network connection.

Honestly, that's garbage because you're dealing with shared bandwidth; I’ve had setups where the speed is lightning fast during the winter, but once summer hits, the whole thing crawls along like a snail in molasses.

The best move is probably just to ditch the internet entirely—it cures all those modern ailments and actually lets you live a normal life.

There’s this one album I’ve been meaning to suggest for ages but never quite got around to it, which is basically Acid Bath - When The kit string pops!

The thing is, the record label that owns the rights to this album is absolutely obsessed with scrubbing it from YouTube whenever someone dares to upload the full record or even just a single track. They actually go as far as picking fights with fans over it, which, if you ask me, is a pathetic, low-class move. Since they keep everything off YouTube, there’s really no point in posting it here because nobody can actually hear it. You can find a version at this link where the audio is pretty muffled and rough, but hey, better than nothing. If you have an account, it’s available on Spotify if you want to give it a spin.

As far as the music goes, though, Acid Bath is this incredible fusion of everything under the sun, and they are hands down one of my all-time favorite bands. They’ve got grit, aggression, melody, and those twisted, dark lyrics—they really cover the whole spectrum. The album cover itself is actually a painting by John Wayne Gacy, also known as the killer clown (God, I hate clowns), who was one of the most notorious serial killers in the US.

An album I actually intended to suggest is easily one of the greatest conceptual records ever made—arguably even more pretentious than Kaddish by the Towering Inferno project. But honestly? I highly doubt there’s much of an audience for a famous industrial-classical crossover album about the Holocaust with a title that translates to "prayer."

And when I say "how can you," I don't mean "shame on you." I mean, is there some kind of psychological prep work required for music like this? I just don't get it. A self-proclaimed music expert suggested this freakshow to me a month ago, and after fifteen minutes, I seriously wanted to jump out a window. Thank God I turned it off, because even Metallica wouldn't be able to save me from that one!

I don't know. Usually, I put stuff like that on when I need to find some alignment or inner peace. So, I guess there isn't really any "prep" needed. 😁 You should probably ask Arthur Brown6 or Gerald Jackson48 instead; it seems like they swim in those waters much better than I do.

As for that recommendation you got... yeah, I’d have jumped out the window even sooner. 😳

I guess I don't see what the big deal is. Maybe everyone is just overreacting, but honestly, it feels like a lot of noise for nothing. I don't know. It’s just my take. kaže:
And an album I was actually planning to suggest? It’s easily one of the best concept albums ever made—even if it is a bit over-the-top and pretentious, I guess. Kaddish Regarding that Towering Inferno project... I don't know. I seriously doubt there’s much of an audience out there for some big-shot industrial-classical crossover album about the Holocaust, especially with a title that basically means "a prayer." Maybe? I guess we'll see.

Look, why don't we just talk about those albums here while we're on summer break? You know, while everyone is out there giving you a hard time.
Why should you even bother listening to them? I mean, honestly. Maybe they have a point, or maybe they’re just talking in circles. It's hard to tell sometimes. But if you want my two cents, there's a reason people pay attention. They don't sugarcoat things, and frankly, I think that's why. It's blunt. It's raw. You might not like what you hear, but at least it feels real. I guess you have to decide if you can handle the truth or if you'd rather stick to the usual fluff. Personally? I'd rather listen to someone who actually says something worth hearing. 🙂

And there's plenty of room to cover the topics mentioned above, which that expert from the coast pointed out so well:
Looking for some album recommendations? I'm open to suggestions. I think you might have cut off there. You didn't actually say anything. What’s on your mind? Music reviews.

As for what you were recommended... honestly, I'd jump out a window right now just to avoid it. 😳

Listened to Enov on Land yesterday, and yeah—it actually chilled me out.

Honestly, everything went downhill once that week with music legends disappeared—this sub just hasn't been the same since.

Dennis Hall41 said:Everything basically went downhill once "a week with music legends" bit the dust, if we're being honest... this subforum just hasn't been the same since then.

Then a little while later, when that whole heated debate broke out over those historical factions on the Music board and the guy with Henry Ford on his avatar got all worked up... my brain just stalled trying to process it all.
It was honestly just repulsive to read...

And this thread isn't dead; the mods are just out on vacation right now and they'll be back the first Monday in September. I've already got my proposal ready to go.

The music section of this forum is, unfortunately, long dead and buried.

Every attempt to breathe life back into it—no matter how much effort went into them—has fallen flat.

I still find myself looking back fondly on that stretch about ten years ago. We used to gather in huge numbers every single week for that "listen and choose" series. Dila would dive deep into the 80s, meticulously breaking everything down (with just a little nudge from the rest of us) one week at a time. Honestly, if you actually sit down and dig through those old threads, you'll realize we covered almost everything there was to cover back then.

Reading that was straight-up disgusting.

The place really lit up then. Honestly, it was gross. Ah, good old days of failed moderation. I mean, if two dedicated moderators couldn't get things under control, why should I blame myself?

Suburbia was one of those forum members who was just such a joy to read... so eloquent yet somehow managed to stay concise. He never really rambled on, yet he had this way of packing so much meaning into such tiny snippets of text. With him gone, this PDF has definitely lost its spark...
