It really makes me wonder—did you lose some sort of bet that we aren't privy to? 🙂

Ricciardo lost this race because of corporate compliance and subordinates being too afraid to act.

Look, the pit crew had tires ready to go, but they were a different compound than what the pit wall actually decided on. There was a massive communication breakdown—the guys on the ground had no clue what the higher-ups wanted. By the time the order finally trickled down, the crew had to ditch the prepared tires for the right ones, and that hesitation cost them precious seconds.

If someone in that pit lane actually had the guts to say "no" and just slap on the tires they already had ready, Ricciardo would have come out ahead of Hamilton. I’m pretty sure he would've held his ground. Sure, the tires would have been softs and it was a little cooler out, but I’m convinced that would've been plenty to defend against those ultra-softs used by ultra-Hamilton.

Word on the street is there’s an agreement over at Mercedes-Benz—if one driver isn't hitting their stride and ends up handing a win to their teammate, they'll let them through. Now, whether that's actually reality or just paddock gossip... who knows, right?

Ricciardo would have struggled significantly just trying to get heat into those tires.
Don't forget, there was still plenty of dampness off the racing line.

Lewis's outlap was absolutely disastrous (1:42), though he did manage to warm everything up later.

It would have been an interesting dynamic, but thirty-odd laps of Lewis in a faster car on superior rubber...? It likely ends exactly how TBF predicted.

Either Lewis sails right past him, or he crashes both himself and Ricciardo in the process. 🙂

Why did the person who posted that poll on this thread leave out one very obvious option... that both Ferrari drivers will completely fall apart and finally show everyone their true colors?

Penalties for the next race:

Kvyat gets a 3-place grid penalty for that collision—which makes 7 total penalties over the last year. Unbelievable.
Ericsson also gets a 3-place penalty for his crash—that brings him to 6 total penalties in the last 12 months.

Consider this an exclusive scoop from me—not some tabloid rag...

It seems the more Ferrari struggles, the better Vettel looks on the scoreboard.
In the last two races where Ferrari completely fell apart,
Vettel actually managed to close the gap to Nico Rosberg by 21 points!

I guess it’s not always a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire"—sometimes one thing's failure actually clears the way for another.

If he’d actually managed to shake off Felipe Massa, Nico Rosberg, and those other slowpokes, I guess he would've been right on Lewis Hamilton's tail and even ahead of Ricc once he finally exited the pits on fresh intermediates.
Just look at how fast Ricc—who wasn't held up by Massa—was closing in on Hamilton when he was on those fresh intermediates...

All this "if this, if that" stuff... we're talking about Monaco, where racing means someone who's two seconds faster per lap can't even pass the guy in front of them. Honestly, I think Sebastian Vettel's chances of winning basically evaporated on Saturday around 3:20 PM... maybe like 99% of them did.
