And honestly, that’s probably the only way things should have gone down anyway. 😛

At the press conference, Louie mentioned he was actually telling the pit wall about his struggles with rear tire warm-up—it was a joint decision they made together.

All in all, if little Max hadn't been such an overhyped kid, I guess this whole race would've just been a total snooze fest. Having a wild, absolutely livid Hamilton on the track can only be a good thing for the rest of the season, really. A massive 👍 congrats to Button for snagging those first points for McLaren Honda.
Everything else was pretty much forgettable, honestly.

Kvyat actually let Ricci move ahead just so he could stay on Raikkonen's tail, essentially hedging his bets in case Ricci ended up with a five-second penalty. Once they announced there wouldn't be any penalty, Ricci simply reclaimed his position...

Actually, that's not quite it—they let him through to try and overtake Hamilton since they were running different strategies; once it became clear he couldn't make the move, Kvyat just gave the position back.

I just finished watching the highlights on ESPN, and I have to say, it was quite something to see how perfectly the German driver managed to outmaneuver the self-important Hamilton; it felt like a genuine moment of justice. Perhaps Rosberg was simply settling the score for all those comments Hamilton made last year regarding having a "privileged upbringing"—honestly, he can just take his attitude elsewhere. Monte Carlo belongs to me, not him.😂

That’s actually a pretty plausible theory. 😁

jadeseal7, don't be ridiculous. 🤣
In what crazy universe was Ricci ever going to overtake Hamilton? 😂
Maybe if Vettel and Rosberg had completely shredded their tires, he might have stood a chance. But Hamilton? Not a chance, even if he were standing on his eyelashes.

I don't know, maybe we should just 🤣
So, what's next? Give Hamilton fresher, faster tires and tell Rosberg to just hand over the win... why stop there? 🤦

Back in Abu Dhabi, the wall took out Webber, not Alonso, but hey, blame the wall again, right?
And it was the wall's fault when he smashed into Alonso during Monaco 2010 even though he had the absolute best car on the grid, and yeah, the wall was to blame in Fuji 2007 too...
Every single time, those freaking walls just ruin everything. 😢

And here he goes again, obsessing over Alonso... 🙄

Just finished watching the highlights on ESPN—man, seeing that German driver absolutely shut down Hamilton was pure poetry. It was such a satisfying payoff. Rosberg finally got his revenge for all those comments Hamilton made last year about having a "privileged upbringing." Honestly, he can take that attitude elsewhere. Monte Carlo belongs to me, not him. 😂

👍Heheheh... Looks like Ricci finally got what was coming to him.

stormybadger8 said:It’s entirely possible that was actually the main reason. 😁

jadeseal7, don't be ridiculous. 🤣
In which crazy movie was Ricci actually able to overtake Hamilton? 😂
Maybe he had a shot at taking on Vettel and Rosberg if their tires had just given out on them. But honestly? There was no way he was catching Hamilton, even if he’d started the race on eyelashes.

You clearly weren't watching. He was closing in on him fast. If the race had gone on for just a few more laps, he could have actually pulled it off...

Seriously, what's the deal? Is Alonso Lord Voldemort now? Like we aren't allowed to even say his name? What kind of kid behavior is this? 🙄

Looks like Max's penalty just got bumped up—not exactly the news we were hoping for!

It was actually Daniil Kvyat who said that—you're the one being silly here.

Yeah, sure, he could've kicked his ass...
If Lewis Hamilton, driving an absolute beast of a car with thirty laps of fresher, faster soft tires left in him, couldn't catch Sebastian Vettel, then forget about it. You can't expect Lewis Hamilton to make anything happen on old, worn-out rubber in a significantly slower car...

Honestly, the only interesting pass we saw the whole race was a slower car squeezing through, and even that only happened because Kimi fell asleep at the wheel and Lewis Hamilton forced his way in...
That was it. Nothing else. Everything else was just faster cars lapping slower ones...

I mean, it’d totally be fair to just hand Lewis Hamilton better, fresher tires and then force Nico Rosberg to give up his position too... I mean, obviously. 🤦

Just kidding, just a little joke.

Would Lewis Hamilton even bother hitting the pits if those experts—who usually obsess over thousandths of a second—hadn't botched the timing by a couple of seconds? Not a chance, especially since he’d be cruising in that Tiger Pirot anyway. Honestly, all this talk about it being some "joint decision" is just a joke.

Maxx's penalty was far too harsh.

I feel the penalty was quite excessive and perhaps a bit illogical. I suppose one might wonder what Maxx actually did wrong in that accident; he was simply racing and looking for an opening to overtake, so I am not entirely sure why he is being blamed when Romain Grosjean chose to brake suddenly in a spot where nobody ever brakes.

FIA!

By the way, I also think Alonso's penalty was unnecessary and somewhat forced... I guess these people just keep ruining the sport.

Maybe Daniel Ricciardo would have had a shot at Sebastian Vettel if Lewis Hamilton hadn't taken him out about 4 or 5 laps from the end... everything else is just pure fantasy.

He can say whatever he wants, but Daniel Ricciardo didn't stand a chance against Lewis Hamilton ☕
The only way Daniel Ricciardo was passing Lewis Hamilton was if Lewis slammed into Sebastian Vettel or hit a wall, and Daniil Kvyat and everyone else behind him had that exact same opportunity...

And honestly, rowdyrider12's theory actually makes sense. Right after Daniel Ricciardo passed Kimi Räikkönen, the word came out that the incident was under investigation—not that they'd look at it after the race, but that it was being investigated *right then* 😉
Which means a decision was coming down during the race... and that’s exactly why they let Daniel Ricciardo ahead of Daniil Kvyat, because they were almost certainly expecting a penalty.
If the stewards had made a snap decision during the race without hesitation, Daniel Ricciardo wouldn't have given the spot back to Daniil Kvyat; he would have just slowed down enough to finish right behind Daniil Kvyat but still ahead of Kimi Räikkönen...

Max's penalty is a joke

This penalty is pure stupidity. 🤦
From the replay, you can see Grosjean braked way earlier than anyone else on track—way earlier than he did just a few laps prior...
If anyone actually deserved a penalty here, it’s Grosjean for braking too early, not little Max...

Look, they didn't screw up the math *that* badly... it just turned out bad. 😉
reason 1. boxing
The pit stop took way too long. We're talking 4.1 seconds, which is an eternity in this era when 3.0 seconds is considered a decent stop...

reason 2.
Sebastian Vettel either got lucky or timed it perfectly to be right on Nico Rosberg's tail the moment Lewis Hamilton exited the pits...
Hamilton popped out about half a meter behind Vettel (meaning he crossed the line roughly half a meter back). If he had come out just 10 cm ahead, he would've taken second...
And honestly, if he had actually secured second behind Rosberg, he definitely would've hunted him down by the end of the race. At the very least, Rosberg would've been forced to dive in and give up the spot...

They really went overboard with the penalties this time... Max Verstappen didn't deserve that; it was just a standard racing incident...
