I mean, if it had been a five-second penalty, they would've just tacked that onto the total time at the checkered flag since nobody was hitting the pits... so basically, they needed to make sure the gap between Räikkönen and Ricciardo stayed wider than five seconds...
On a track like that, there is absolutely no way anyone is going to convince me that Ricciardo just happened to breeze past Kvyat by sheer luck...
It’s exactly what I thought—that whole business with stopping Kimi just to make sure both Red Bull drivers walked away with more points.

That's exactly it. That's why the second I saw it happen, I typed out: "Bravo Red Bull Racing." Seriously, talk about a masterclass in tactical decision-making by the crew!

At the very least, this adds some much-needed drama to what’s becoming a predictable championship. Rosberg has exactly one shot left at this: he needs to get inside Hamilton's head. If he has any intention of actually winning this season, he has to pull that move in Canada right now.

If Lewis is still struggling with his braking, Rosberg will have the perfect opening. But let's be real—that isn't going to happen. Rosberg is acting like a total coward, and it was obvious even after they climbed out of the cars. Of course he was secretly thrilled that Hamilton blew the win, but he played it off like a weakling—which is exactly what he is.

Then again, given where he comes from, it’s hardly surprising he acts like such a pushover. That's just how they are.

Vettel, on the other hand, is doing a fine job of settling for mediocrity and taking whatever scraps come his way. Whatever. It’ll probably define the rest of his career anyway.

Kudos to Jenson Button for picking up those first points for McLaren. The car seems to be improving every single race—not necessarily at the pace anyone actually wants or expects, but it is improving. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out in Canada.

Who on earth was the steward officiating this race? These penalties are absolutely ridiculous. Alonso and Hulk were driving side-by-side for at least 250 meters before he handed out a penalty, yet Ricciardo gets off scot-free even though he lunged in at the very last second and slammed right into Kimi Räikkönen. I don't see any logic here; in my view, both incidents were minor enough that they didn't even warrant an investigation. It’s absurd when they talk about implementing wider tires or whatever else, yet they obsess over policing these kinds of trivialities.

Like, Alonso and Hulk were driving side-by-side for at least 250 meters and he gets flagged, yet Ricciardo walks away totally clean even though he cut in at the absolute last second and slammed right into Kimi Räikkönen. It makes zero sense to me, though personally I think both situations were pretty much nothing and don't even warrant an investigation. They’ll probably spend all their time worrying about wider tires or whatever, but then they turn around and hand out penalties for nonsense like this.

Tom Kristensen is telling the truth.

My god, what a driver! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

He’s the kind of guy who actually knows how to milk a car's potential, especially when he's in the second fastest machine on the grid. It’s just something #7 clearly doesn't have a clue how to do.

Regarding point number one.

I actually fell asleep during the race.

Brian Campbell36 said:When Ferrari shows up to Canada with that stronger engine, they’re going to absolutely tear through both Mercedes-Benz cars on that track. 🍿

Maurizio Arrivabene basically said, “We aren’t dropping our tokens at the Canada Grand Prix, but don't go asking me when we actually will—I'd rather not tip off the Germans over at Mercedes-Benz!”

Canada is a wash.
At the end of the day, it actually makes sense, mostly because of this:
Kod:
Here’s the breakdown on the power units for the Ferrari boys:

05 Ferrari | Sebastian Vettel | ICE: 2, TC: 2, MGU-H: 2, MGU-K: 2, ES: 2, CE: 2
07 Ferrari | Kimi Räikkönen | ICE: 2, TC: 2, MGU-H: 2, MGU-K: 2, ES: 1, CE: 2

Belgium makes way more sense here. We’re already eleven races into the season... I just don't see the logic in taking a massive penalty for five engine changes when they'd probably end up swapping in three power units anyway just to stay competitive in Canada.

It is interesting that nobody mentioned how the odds on Rosberg were sitting at around 3.5 to 4 🙂 . The way everyone reacted to Hamilton's pit stop was quite curious; it felt almost like a staged farce to me.

Vettel was at 10.0 😁
So I guess they would've just called both Hamilton and Rosberg in for a pit stop then...🤣

And there he goes! Just as I thought.
The pit wall sees everything, and they know way more than the drivers ever will. They have access to data that just isn't available in the cockpit. That’s exactly why they should have stepped in and stopped him.
Nah, it looks like they're just paralyzed by fear over there. If Lewis Hamilton even sneezes, their knees start shaking. If he so much as coughs, they lose their minds and panic, which leads to all this absolute nonsense.

cosmicridge5 said:Hamilton was the one calling for the pit stop, and the team just buckled under the pressure instead of pushing back to make it work. That’s really all there is to it. No grand conspiracy here, unfortunately. 😁

So, you're telling me it’s a shame there aren't any conspiracies going on? Right. 🙏
So, just a little bit of circus to break up this boring, dry slog of a 2015 season.

Man, Lewis really knows how to get under people's skin. 🙂 Everyone is out here trying to shift the blame onto some incompetent pit crew member who just made the final call to bring the driver in.

Just thinking out loud here—what should the 2017 lineup actually look like before Red Bull Racing makes their move...

Red Bull might just pull the plug entirely since Volkswagen already announced they're staying out of Formula 1.

I've been chewing on that whole mess at the Monaco Grand Prix 2015 and those questionable calls from Mercedes... Honestly, if that hadn't happened, I don't think we'd even have anything to talk about after the race. And hey—only two weeks until Canada.

I’d almost say everyone’s just making stuff up at this point...
The reality is Lewis Hamilton was right—he knew those tires were shot when he asked for the box. But the pit wall wasn't totally wrong either; they saw enough of a gap when they finally gave him the signal...

Honestly, Scuderia Ferrari screwed him on track. Lewis Hamilton caught them before he even pitted, which is where he lost those crucial one or two seconds (plus the pit wall was too slow to react) + then they topped it off with a sluggish pit stop...

On top of that, the Lap Time app threw a flag around lap 50 saying Hamilton's telemetry had failed, even though his lap times were still showing up...
And while you could see sector times, the live track view showed his car just sitting parked on the grid...
It's entirely possible the crew was relying on gaps via Brawn GP's Lap Time app, which is about as reliable as a screen door on a submarine. 😬

Bottom line? It was just a total clusterfuck. Hard to pin it on just one person when there are so many moving parts and outside factors involved. And honestly, trying to figure out who actually pulls the trigger on these calls seems like a nightmare. In Mexico, it looks like there are way too many layers of bureaucracy involved, which clearly makes them too slow to make a decision...

Mercedes-Benz: We totally blew it for Lewis Hamilton

Team boss Toto Wolff admitted they made a massive call error during the closing stages of the Monaco GP.

"Yeah, we absolutely ruined Lewis Hamilton's race. We just didn't read the gap to Nice correctly—total miscalculation. All we can really do now is apologize. I feel terrible for Lewis, and honestly, I feel for the crew who made such a bad call. We should have cruised to a perfect 1-2 finish today. We need to sit down, dig into what went wrong, and send Lewis Hamilton a formal apology," Toto Wolff said right after the race wrapped up.

Yeah, right. I'm sure they did it all just to give us something to gossip about.🤣🤣🤣

It's all rigged, if you ask me. It drives up their value because now everyone's talking about them. If it had just ended Lewis Hamilton 1st and Nico Rosberg 2nd, nobody would even be mentioning this boring race right now.

neonfox65 said:Mercedes-Benz: We totally screwed Hamilton's race

I don't buy this for a second. It's just not true. 😳

lap time:
Code:
44 PIT 2:11.321
19 PIT 1:59.733
11 PIT 2:00.310
12 PIT 1:59.948
3 PIT 1:59.200

It’s a total mystery why Hamilton's lap was about 11-12 seconds slower 😲 than everyone else hitting the pits, especially since his pit stop itself was basically as fast as the rest...

Pit time:
Code:
44 Lewis Hamilton 25.495
19 Felipe Massa 24.395
11 Sergio Perez 25.119
12 Esteban Gutierrez 26.420
3 Daniel Ricciardo 24.244

Clearly, Hamilton is the one who botched it with a painfully slow lap approaching the pits. Either he went wide, braked way too early, or caught the SC...
Hard to blame the crew when he's the one driving a much slower lap than necessary. Let's be real, he definitely knew he was bleeding massive amounts of time before pulling in...

There was plenty of space to pit and get back out with a huge advantage.
He probably didn't go off on the team because he knew damn well he was largely responsible for this mess.
