James Taylor3 said:It’s actually quite warm out today. The average for games featuring over 1.5 goals sits at 1.54—though we don't have the exact math on that specific metric—while the average for matches hitting the over 2.5 mark climbs up to 2.72..
Well, that’s certainly a massive step up from what we see with our own local bunch.

Looking at the odds over at DraftKings, the lines for these two specific bets are actually even higher than what we're seeing here, which makes me think there's some real value in playing them.

It seems Stanleybeta actually managed to hold their own quite well when you look at how the other national teams performed.
The odds for over 2.5 goals are sitting at 2.60, but I’ve decided to take a swing at the over 3.5 at 5.45. To be honest, my reasoning aligns pretty closely with yours, Jacob Torres21; besides, when the payout is that high, it feels like a missed opportunity to pass it up. Plus, if they end up being a total snooze fest while I'm watching, I can always just tune out and ignore whatever else is on the schedule—though I'll probably start by muting those Spanish teams if they don't pick up the pace. 😁) .

The odds for over 2.5 goals are sitting at 2.60—I decided to take the over 3.5 @ 5.45 (2/10) for the same reasons you did. Plus, the price is too high to pass up, and if they end up being boring to watch, I’ll just tune out—mostly looking at the Spanish side😁.

I saw it, but since they don't update their online odds instantly, I wasn't sure if that line was still live, so I held off on posting.

I'm still leaning toward goals here. If we get even a single goal in the first half—which is a very reasonable expectation—the second half should be absolute chaos.
If that happens, hitting your over 3.5 at those massive odds isn't out of the question.

Looking at Pinnacle now, the over 2.5 has actually dropped slightly to 2.86.
The over 3.5 is at 5.98. 😁

To make watching the game more interesting, I’m going to throw these on as well:

Pirlo scores 1st goal @ 25.00
Montolivo scores 1st goal @ 30.00
Xabi Alonso scores 1st goal @ 25.00

All three are favorites, and my reasoning is simple:

-Pirlo takes all the free kicks for Italy and is clinical with them. He likely handles penalties too, though I can't say for certain—correct me if I'm wrong.

-Montolivo is a top-tier player with a heavy shot; at these odds, he's worth a flyer.

-Xabi Alonso has arguably the most powerful strike on the US national team—well, the Spanish squad, anyway—he shoots from distance constantly and handles their penalties.

These three are locks to start, and given how inflated the odds are, I have to play them.
The stake is, naturally, peanuts. 😁

Well, the World Cup is officially over, so here’s my final wrap-up.

There were plenty of surprises and some truly bizarre results along the way—but at the end of the day, the heavy hitters actually made it to the semifinals.

As for me, I’m happy with how my betting went. I finished with a solid profit—and frankly, if every tournament ended this way, I wouldn't be complaining.

That marks the end of my betting season, at least regarding anything substantial. I’ll be back in the fall once the NFL kickoff and the NBA season get moving.

Seattle Sounders vs. Portland Timbers Under 2.5 goals @ 1.65
09.09.11, Seattle Sounders - Portland Timbers 0 : 0
30.04.11, Seattle Sounders - Portland Timbers 0 : 2
15.05.10, Seattle Sounders - Portland Timbers 0 : 0
18.10.09, Seattle Sounders - Portland Timbers 0 : 1
The home side is missing their top scorer, Yanusha (13 apps / 6 goals).
Portland is also down their star player and leading scorer Mozolevskiy (9 apps / 7 goals), plus they're without midfielder Maycon—who isn't exactly a game-changer, but still...
On the bright side, they get a crucial midfielder back, Pavlov.
Seattle is a powerhouse, especially when playing at home, and honestly, you don't even need to talk about Portland... this is a massive rivalry match. Things are heating up, and I'm expecting a gritty, physical game where there won't be much flow at all... just pure toughness.
Traditionally, Portland plays a super tight defensive game and doesn't concede much, and they absolutely cannot afford a loss today since Seattle is sitting only 3 points behind them in the standings.

Houston Dynamo vs. Chicago Fire Under 2.5 @ 2.50
The Houston squad was in a total tailspin recently—and I say "was" because management finally actually paid the players the back wages they owed, which happened right before last week's game against Minneapolis... though they still managed to lose 1-0.
Things are looking way better for them today, though, and some of the guys have even decided to stick with the club instead of jumping ship, which is huge news for the organization.
The Chicago fans are basically boycotting the team right now, so Houston is going to have massive support from the home crowd. The atmosphere is intense, kind of like how things feel back home for us, with everyone piling onto the bus for the trip...
There’s some seriously sweet value on a home win at 2.50 given the actual odds here.

00,15 Santiago Wanderers vs. Huachipato

pick : Over 2.5 goals @ 1.65 odds

It’s the opening match of the second half of the season here in the US... basically a clash between two pretty evenly matched sides with almost identical styles. They tend to thrive on fast breaks against the heavy hitters, but in games like this one, they usually end up getting outclassed. Looking back at the first half of the season, their stats show an average of 3.41 goals per game, which is plenty to keep them sitting right there in second place just behind the leaders. They're also way better at home than on the road, so I’m expecting them to come out swinging aggressively for this season opener. Plus, they lost 2-1 away to these guys in the last game of the first half, so they've definitely got some points to prove.
Huachipato missed out on the playoffs in the last round after dropping a game to the top seed, while the other big contender squeezed into the top eight with a win. They're a solid squad, sure, but they aren't exactly elite. Their goal average during the first half was 3.12, which is more than enough 😁 for this pick, but when you look at their away games, that number jumps to 3.3. That tells me they play much more wide-open soccer when they're traveling. I won't even bother guessing the final score—in American soccer, sometimes just one goal is all it takes for things to get chaotic 🤣 and honestly, unless there's a massive favorite, anyone can beat anyone. I could see the "under" happening here too, but I can't quite put my finger on why, so I'll just stick with the over.

Seattle Sounders-Portland Timbers 1 1,60
The home side is on an absolute tear right now—playing sharp, clinical soccer, and they’re definitely going to be fighting tooth and nail for that top spot in the MLS...
As for Portland, things have been falling apart for a while now. They're dealing with serious money issues, the players are miserable, and management is actually trying to slash salaries by 25%...
The players are pushing back hard—they want their contracts honored or they want out so they can find teams that actually pay up properly.
The home team just absolutely crushed a local rival 4-0 in the cup, while the visitors are showing up in a toxic atmosphere, totally fed up with how everything is being handled.
I don't see Seattle having much trouble here, provided they don't get cocky and underestimate them...

Chicago Fire-Columbus Crew 3+ 1,55
08.13.11, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 2 : 0

09.14.08, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 6 : 0
08.17.08, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 4 : 1
07.01.07, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 3 : 2
05.08.05, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 3 : 1
Chicago has nothing left to lose—they're at the bottom, so they have to go all out and attack, especially since the visitors are looking really solid and efficient lately...
Double chance 2,48

New York Red Bulls-Minnesota United 1 2,10
The Red Bulls are playing their third match in about a week, and Minnesota is also dealing with a heavy schedule playing in the Conference playoffs.
Both sides are facing opponents coming in from the Pacific Northwest.
New York just came off a 0-0 draw, but they were playing a heavily rotated lineup.
They've got 5 or 6 key guys returning to the squad today, though they're still missing their captain, Aho.
The visitors will be missing:
James, Hoivala, Holopainen, and Taipale, but they do get their striker Zahovaiko back in the mix.
I'm giving the edge to the home team, even if they're a little banged up from traveling through the Midwest. Minnesota's roster is pretty thin away from home—definitely the weaker side here.
New York won the last two matchups

Early June saw Age Hareide get the axe because the results were just straight-up garbage...
He was replaced by Kjell Jonevret, who couldn't have asked for a worse debut—losing 1-4 to Rosenborg, and then getting knocked out of the cup at home after extra time. Just a total mess.
I seriously doubt they’ll pull anything off today against Aalesund... these guys haven't lost a single home game this season (3-3-0 record), while Viking is stuck in a massive slump and looks completely exhausted after playing three matches in seven days.
If there's any luck on their side, it's that they don't have any injury issues and didn't even have to travel outside of Stavanger... honestly though, I like the value here, so I'm putting my money on a home win.

2'5" plus 1'65" SS... wait, let me re-read that. Honestly, I think my eyes are playing tricks on me today. Is this some kind of math problem or just a typo? Anyway, whatever it is, it's looking a bit wonky.

One-to-one full time. 👎

Kickoff is at 12:30. It's the big match between Universidad Católica and Palestino.

Betting on a 1.5 goal over? Yeah, I'll take those odds. Seems like a decent little play if you're looking for something easy.

There’s a massive talent gap between these two sides. Honestly, Catolica needs to actually use their home-field advantage for once. They're great hosts, though—totally undefeated at home during the regular season with an 8-6-2-0 record and a goal differential of 20 to 4. It’s kind of ridiculous. If they hadn't played like absolute amateurs and made so many boneheaded mistakes, they wouldn't have finished fourth in the standings. They missed out on the semifinals by a hair too. Union Espanola was just better over the two legs. I mean, in that first match, Catolica got lucky they only lost 3-0; on the pitch, they looked completely hopeless. That said, they definitely have the roster depth to make a deep run in the big leagues. They rarely struggle at home, especially against a squad like today's. They really need to get their act together and play with some actual focus. 😁 God forbid they drop three points today... I mean, look, miracles happen, sure, but let’s not hold our breath.
So, looking at Palestino... they’ve managed two away wins where they conceded a total of 4 goals to 13. It’s a bit messy, I guess. They haven't actually found the back of the net in their last four road games, which isn't exactly a glowing track record. Honestly, they don't leave much of an impression on me. Still, even though the odds for a straight win by Catholic University are pretty slim, I'm thinking it might be worth a shot. Looking back at how these two teams have matched up, Palestino rarely walks away from these games with a clean sheet—usually, if they lose, it's just a narrow margin. But based on the current power dynamic, I'm leaning toward taking the handicap win; the sportsbook is offering 2.30 on that, which caught my eye. Clasure is starting things off, and after that lackluster showing in the playoffs, I think it’s best to see them follow up with a convincing win right out of the gate. This opponent seems like the perfect target for a statement game.
