Hey everyone, figured I'd jump into this thread. 🙂

Here is what I am looking at today:

Dynamo Moscow 2 - They are simply higher quality than the home team and have much better depth. I've been following them every week hoping for a win, but they keep dropping points. This squad belongs at the top of the table, not at the bottom.

Standard 3+ - The only Belgian match on the schedule this weekend? Expecting 3 or more goals here.

Atletico Madrid 1 - Vallecano plays a physical game, but I think Madrid takes this one. It’s a solid play with decent odds around 1.45.

Utrecht vs PSV 2 1.5 @SS
When you look at the current form, there isn't much of a debate here. After stumbling with an opening loss, PSV has come out swinging with some incredibly convincing victories, and I fully expect them to keep this momentum rolling today. They have to stay neck-and-neck with teams like Seattle Sounders and LAFC if they want any shot at the title. If there’s a single variable to worry about, it might be fatigue from international duty for a few key players, but let’s be honest—their roster depth is just significantly superior.

Napoli vs Parma 1 1,6 @SS
The home side is the clear favorite here, and frankly, looking at these odds, it’s a play you can't ignore. Napoli is a powerhouse when playing in their own backyard, whereas Parma is more of a "homebody" squad—they might snatch a point on the road every now and then, but they struggle away from home. To make matters worse, Parma is dealing with a massive handicap today since both Biabiany and Amauri are sidelined, leaving their attack looking pretty toothless.

Genoa vs Juventus 2 1,7 @SS
Juventus kicked off the season perfectly with two clinical wins—one against Parma and another tough road win against a very strong Udinese. On the flip side, Genoa is sitting at one win and one loss. My issue with Genoa is that they seem to overhaul their entire roster every single year; they probably have the highest turnover rate in the league, and that constant shuffling always leaves them vulnerable while they try to find any semblance of chemistry. Juve doesn't have those growing pains. They took last year's solid core and added real quality with guys like Asamoah, Giovinco, and Islu. Everyone is available for the coach today, even though he’ll be watching from the stands due to a suspension. In my book, pure talent and cohesion should win this one. Straight away for the visitors.

Roma vs Bologna 1 1.45 @SS
Washington D.C. is absolutely buzzing right now following the arrival of Zeman. He’s brought a sense of optimism back to the fans by offering exactly what they crave: aggressive attacking play and a youthful energy. After a minor stumble in the first round against Catania, Roma corrected course with a brilliant performance in a victory over Inter in Milan. They’re riding a wave of confidence right now, and I don't see Bologna being able to stop them. It’s true that Roma will be missing heavy hitters like Osvaldo and De Rossi today, but their bench is deep enough with guys like Destra and Pjanic to cover the gap.

Anzhi vs Krasnodar 1 1.45@SS
Wrapping things up with a pick from the Russian league. Anzhi is in fantastic shape; Eto'o is scoring like he’s possessed, and he’s been joined by another major signing in Traore. Anzhi simply cannot afford to miss this opportunity to capitalize on Zenit’s recent slip-up; a win here would leapfrog them ahead in the standings. Plus, we might see the debut of Lass Diarra today, who just arrived from Real Madrid.

Orlando City vs. Inter Miami 2 dnb 2.50
The home side is a total mess right now, while the visitors are absolutely rolling.
Last season, they actually lost this one on their own turf, 3-2.
Honestly, you’ve gotta look at these visitors—they’re easily one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment.
I caught the Orlando game during their last away match, and man, they were pathetic... zero real threats, zero momentum, just completely toothless against the home defense.

-----------------
Houston Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy 1 2.10
Houston is riding a solid winning streak at home, plus they finally get Lincoln back in the lineup.
Galaxy are in a complete tailspin after two straight losses, and their roster is a wreck—missing guys like Durval, Felipe Anderson, and Edu Dracena, they just sold Gans to LAFC, and Neymar is basically running on fumes from the heavy schedule and national team duty...
There's some serious value on the home win here.

I’m sitting here staring at the odds for this matchup between the LA Galaxy and Portland Timbers, and I honestly can't wrap my head around why Portland is sitting at 2.50, especially when they're basically the heavyweights fighting for the title right now with five wins in their last seven matches, while the Galaxy have absolutely nothing going for them after dropping four straight... isn't that just wild? ☕

Inter Miami vs. Orlando City @2,05ss[/B
-The leaders at home are killing it with 10 wins, 2 losses, and just 1 draw, plus they've been scoring like crazy with a 26:12 goal ratio
-Orlando is sitting pretty in 3rd place with 4 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses... kind of a shaky 13:11 goal spread
-Last time these two met back on August 12th, Orlando walked away with a solid 4-1 win

Seattle Sounders vs. Portland Timbers @1,5ss
-Seattle is looking strong at home with 9 wins, 2 losses, and zero draws, and man, that 26:6 goal difference is wild
-Portland has been struggling on the road, picking up only 2 wins and 3 draws while giving up 18 goals compared to their 9 scored (and honestly, they've lost 4 of their last 5 away games, maybe just one draw there)

-TPS is sitting pretty in 3rd place in the league, coming off 4 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses... with a 13:11 scoreline
-Last time these two faced off back on August 12th, TPS walked away with a solid 4-1 win

Halmstad vs. Ljungskile 1 @1.5ss
-Halmstad is looking strong at home with 9 points, 2 losses, and 0 draws, scoring 26 while giving up only 6
-Ljungskile is struggling on the road with 2 wins, 3 draws, and 6 losses, and their goal differential is a rough 9:18 (they actually lost 4 and drew 1 in their last 5 away games)

Since Nisan hasn't posted in quite a while, I figured I might as well contribute a few thoughts of my own...

I’ve been looking over tomorrow's slate, though I certainly don't claim to be a genius... looking at the sportsbook, four matches seem to be a toss-up 50-50, while another four are listed with the home team as the heavy favorites.
What really caught my eye, though, is that these supposed "favorites" are Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, and AC Milan.
I wonder if it's just me, or have you all noticed that these four are looking a bit shaky? Take Milan, for instance; I watched them play this past Saturday, and they looked quite disjointed—they seem to be lacking depth in their roster right now. Their odds feel somewhat unrealistic given their current state. As for PSG and Real Madrid, they haven't exactly been shining lately; their form is hit-or-miss, perhaps because we are still in these early stages of the season, but based on these lines, it feels a bit unreliable. Besides, their opponents aren't exactly underdogs either. A draw in Paris seems entirely plausible, and in Madrid, anything could happen—I suppose the safest bet might just be "both teams to score and over 2.5 goals," and we'll just see where the chips fall. Then there's Borussia; they are a formidable squad, but even if you don't follow them closely, everyone knows they can be quite inconsistent in European competition, so the odds seem a little too low for a serious wager.

Another thing that piqued my interest was the selection of matches with 1.5+ goal lines, where the odds are sitting at a decent 1.25 to 1.35 (with the exception of Real and Dortmund).
Thinking about the start of the season and the first round, if you've followed European football over the last few years, you'll know the game is played with a certain level of madness... goals tend to flow quite freely, especially in competitions like the Europa League. I think this represents a solid opportunity. If I recall correctly from looking at last season's opening round statistics, it felt like at least six or seven matches consistently cleared the 1.5+ line, particularly toward the end of the schedule... but I suppose we shall see.

Personally, I'm being a bit frugal with my funds (trying to make the most of what little I have) in anticipation of Thursday, where we have 12 matches spread across several slots... haha. God willing, we'll focus on those 1.5+ bets. I seem to remember from last season that they were quite reliable; looking back, 22 out of 24 matches hit the 1.5+ mark... it was truly wild.

P.S. I'm placing my bets through DraftKings as singles, but that's mostly just out of loyalty.😁 ☕

I hope this wasn't too long-winded... best regards.

LA Galaxy vs. FC Porto 2

Let's be honest—if it weren't for the way the Champions League format was overhauled by UEFA, LA Galaxy wouldn't even be in this conversation. It felt pretty obvious last season.
The Galaxy have been struggling against some seriously mediocre sides. I mean, look at how they handled that matchup against the Rockies—it was close, and they almost missed out on European contention entirely instead of dreaming about the spring playoffs. They barely scraped by against teams like Sheriff, which are just average squads they couldn't even dominate. Even when playing Maribor at home, it was basically a dead heat until they finally pulled the win together, but man, they looked rough.

I really don't see how LA Galaxy pulls anything away from Porto, especially after seeing them struggle against those other teams. Porto are the current champions of Portugal. Don't let the fact that Hulk left fool you—they still have plenty of talent on the pitch. This Porto side looks much tougher than Lyon or Ajax, both of whom the Galaxy had zero chance against last year.

Honestly, I can't see a way where Porto doesn't walk away with points tonight, especially since they need to advance. They can't afford any slip-ups—anything less than a win would be a total disaster for them.

Good luck to everyone! 👍

I'm sitting here scrolling through tomorrow's lines and honestly, I don't feel like a genius today... looking at the spread, there are 4 games that are basically a coin flip, and then another 4 where the home team is sitting as the heavy favorite.
What really caught my eye, though, is that those "sure thing" favorites are Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, and AC Milan.
Is it just me, or have you guys noticed that these four are kind of a joke right now? Take Milan, for example—I watched them play this past Saturday and they were just all over the place, totally disjointed, plus their roster depth isn't exactly elite. That oddsmaker price feels totally unrealistic for where they are right now. Then you've got PSG and Real; they aren't exactly lighting it up lately, they're playing okay, I guess, but it's hit or miss. At least during this early part of the season, it doesn't feel reliable, especially given those odds, and let's be real, their opponents aren't exactly pushovers. A draw in Paris is totally on the table, and in Madrid, anything can happen—I'd probably just play "both teams to score and over 2.5 goals" and see where the chips fall. And Borussia? They're a powerhouse, sure, but they've been super inconsistent leading up to the season opener, so even the local birds know they're hot and cold in European play. The odds are way too low to put any real money down.

Another thing that jumped out at me was the Over 1.5 market, where the odds are actually pretty decent, sitting between 1.25 and 1.35 (except for Real and Dortmund).
Thinking about how the Champions League usually kicks off, if you've followed European soccer lately, you'll know the game is basically pure chaos—goals just fly in constantly, especially in the Europa League. I think this is a solid opportunity. If you look back at the stats from last season's opening round, I'm pretty sure we saw 6 or even 7 matches hit that Over 1.5 mark, especially toward the end of the tournament... but hey, we'll see.

I'm being stingy with my cash (you know, the little bit of change I've got left) to save up for Thursday, where we've got 12 games spread across different slots... hehe. Thank God, we're just hammering the Over 1.5s... I remember last season, it was crazy, we were hitting those consistently—like, 22 out of 24 games went over 1.5... absolutely wild.

P.S. I'm placing my bets on DraftKings singles, mostly just because I like the interface.😁☕

Hope I didn't ramble too much... cheers!

Look, man, if Milan were actually playing at a world-class level, the odds would be 1.20, but this is likely the max they could offer since I don't know what you were expecting against Anderlecht. Milan isn't exactly firing on all cylinders, but getting 1.50 at home against a Belgian side? That's a steal.

The guys over at FC Atlanta have been riding some serious luck through these Champions League qualifiers—honestly, just looking back at that second leg against Ludogorets and that goal scored in the 8th minute of stoppage time... it felt almost unfair.

It’s about time our boys actually step up to face teams that are legitimately better than them—unlike those clubs from Bulgaria, Moldova, or Canada we usually see. Our first real test is Porto, the Portuguese champs, who are heading to Atlanta this Tuesday.

For Coach Miller's squad, the mission is simple: they have to do better in the Champions League than last year. Last season was rough—we finished with a goal difference of 3-22, which set a pretty miserable record for most goals conceded in a group stage.
To be honest, Atlanta isn't much stronger than they were last year—so I can't say I'm surprised that more losses seem to be looming.

Porto has always played it smart—selling high last summer with guys like Hulk and Alvaro Pereira, then picking up talent cheap. Their big move was grabbing 26-year-old Colombian striker Jackson Martinez from Jaguares de Chiapasa. He’s already crushed it, scoring three of their eight goals in his first four appearances.

They've got a stacked roster too. On top of veterans like Helton, Rolando, and Moutinha, they’ve added Belgian talent Steven Defour, Brazilian fullbacks Danilo and Alex Sandro, and the Colombian star James Rodriguez.

Porto is a powerhouse. They know that with the way this group looks—facing off against heavyweights like PSG and Dynamo Kyiv—they really need to take care of business in Atlanta if they want to advance. If I had to pick, I'd give the edge to the visitors.

I just took a quick look at the upcoming matchups—just a glance, really—and in my opinion, Dortmund and Blackburn are the two standout picks here. They both look like solid bets. Honestly, though? The current odds are absolute garbage. I’m planning to wait and see if the live lines hit a combined 2.5 within the first 15 minutes; if they don't, there's simply no value in touching this. It feels like there might be some heavy manipulation at play, so we really need to think this through—maybe even just sit out this opening round entirely.

LP folk picks

image

Dortmund vs Ajax: 1

Look, Ajax is looking pretty decent lately, but you really have to give the edge to the two-time Bundesliga champs—especially when they’re playing on home turf.

LAFC vs Porto: 2

It’s pretty much been said already, but I think it might finally be time for Coach Miller to take his first L at the helm here. Intentions are one thing, but reality is another beast entirely. Sadly.

PSG vs Kyiv: 1

You've got Ibrahimovic and Balotelli going up against Krenk and company... honestly, I just don't think the Kyiv squad has the depth to keep up. 🤔

Montpellier vs Arsenal: 2

The French champs are struggling after losing their star player—who was basically half the team, if you look at how this new season has started—facing off against those London kids who just picked up Giroud 🙂(even though they also lost their top guy, Peach) and showed some serious flashes of brilliance over the last couple of matchdays.

Real Madrid vs City: Over 2.5 goals

A total clash of the titans.
A shaken-up Real Madrid facing off against those Manchester billionaires... I'm expecting fireworks, constant pressure, and naturally, plenty of goals.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Schalke 04: Both teams to score at 1.75
Look, the Lakers aren't quite what they were last season—they've definitely lost some steam—but man, when they play at home in front of a packed house, they are always dangerous... seriously unpredictable.
They actually let Mirallas go from the attack and sold Mellberg from the defense too.
And those guys were huge pieces for them.
Their backline looks pretty shaky this year—really uncoordinated and just haven't found their rhythm yet.
With Manolas, Contreras, Papazoglu, and Holebas lacking actual playing time and the necessary experience at this high level, it’s easily the biggest weakness for the Lakers right now.
On the other side, Schalke 04 has had a killer start to the season.
They're dealing with some absences since a few key players are out, but they're still pushing through (even without Marica, Metzelder, Chined Obas, and Hildebrand up front or in goal)
Their defense isn't exactly a fortress either—especially since they'll be missing their keeper and main defender—so the whole game is really just gonna be about who can outscore the other.
Up front, you've got Huntelaar, and he'll have help from Farfan, Barnetta, Holtby, Draxler, and Afellay.
But let's be real, Schalke, much like most teams from Germany, tends to give up goals way too often when they're playing away in Europe.
I'm calling it: goals for both sides. Also, looking at the intensity, the yellow card count is probably going to be pretty high too.

Malaga vs Zenit St. Petersburg: Both teams to score at 1.80
Both of these squads have loaded attacks, but their defenses? Not so much.
Malaga plays a really tight game through the midfield with some solid talent—Isco, Joaquin, dud, and Francisco Portillo Soler—while leading the charge in the attack are Roque Santa Cruz and Saviola...
Zenit will likely run a three-man front with Faizulin, Kerzhakov, and Hulk, with Shirokov, Zyryanov, and Denisov supporting them from behind.
Honestly, both teams are more than capable of putting on a quality match.
I'd give the edge to the visitors, mostly because Malaga is dealing with the nerves of making their debut in a competition like this.
My bet? At least one goal per side.

Personally, I think anyone betting on them is just throwing money away. Avoid AC Milan tonight at all costs.
I caught their game over the weekend, and honestly, I haven’t seen them play this poorly in a long, long time. They actually opened the season with two straight home losses—apparently, according to some stats I saw online, that hasn't happened to them since the 1930s. They’re just an average squad right now. To me, 1.50 feels way too low for a risk like this. If the odds were sitting around 1.8 or 1.9, maybe I'd consider it, but at this price? No way.

It’s been over eight months since I last placed a bet, but I just couldn't pass up this Porto vs. Dinamo Chicago matchup. I still have such fond memories of Dinamo; they were a total gold mine for me during last season's LP.
Anything can happen on paper, but honestly, I just don't see how a Dinamo side that's struggling against some bottom-tier teams can pull off a win against Porto. Porto isn't going to walk into this underestimating anyone like they did with APOEL earlier this year.
10/10 on Porto.

Montpellier-Arsenal X 3,10
Honestly, they’ve always been absolute trash on the road—if you can even call it that—compared to any other team from England... they usually just scrape by with a point here and there.
Plus, they're dealing with a massive list of absences: Wojciech Szczęsny, Tomáš Rosický, Jack Wilshere, Emmanuel Frimpong, and Bacary Sagna.
And get this—Arsène Wenger already hinted he’s gonna rotate the squad, probably resting about 7 or 8 guys who played this past Saturday.

Mannone
Jenkinson (A Santos), Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen, Alex Gibbs
Gibbs-Arteta, Mathieu Diaby, Santi Cazorla (Gervinho) (Theo Walcott)
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud (Marouane Chamakh), Podolski

The home side is gonna be fired up, though... they'll give it everything they've got to pull off a decent result.
Actually, most of the Montpellier players are basically making their Champions League debut.
I’m putting my money on pure motivation and that insane hunger the home team has when they play at home. They just really lack a killer edge in the Match...
Jourdén -
Bocaly-Mapou Yanga Mbiwa-Hilton-Bedimo -
Saihi-Estrada -
Cabella-Belhanda-Camara-
Herrera

Arsenal has never lost in France, so I doubt they'll lose tonight either... but then again, facing a gritty, hard-fighting home team? Man, a win is gonna be tough to come by.
Both sides would probably settle for a draw, though obviously Montpellier would want it more.

2.30 odds on an Arsenal win seems like a solid bet to me—definitely worth a look. Even with some lineup shifts expected, I don't think the squad will lose any real strength. We might see Mannone stepping in for Wojciech Szczęsny after that tough outing against Southampton where he was largely to blame for their lone goal... Mannone actually looked quite sharp against Liverpool and Stoke City earlier on. In defense, we'll likely see Laurent Koscielny return, possibly alongside Santos instead of Thomas Vermaelen/Per Mertesacker and Alex Gibbs. Honestly, I don't see that as a downside—Santos is such an attack-minded defender, after all. My only real concern is if Santi Cazorla sits out, though I'm betting he gets at least one half of action. Arsenal is playing beautifully right now, creating plenty of chances and finding the net, so the vibes around the club are great—meanwhile, things aren't looking too bright for Montpellier.

Steve Bould will be on the bench—and considering how much Arsenal's defense has tightened up since he joined the coaching staff, I doubt his presence will be anything less than a plus tonight...

Right, because clearly this Porto match is totally irrelevant and the players will just wander around the pitch aimlessly. They'll obviously just wait to find their chance to advance by picking up wins against a weak PSG and Dynamo Kyiv instead.🤣>
