I wouldn't be shocked if LA Galaxy walks away with a draw. Honestly, I don't think Porto is nearly as dangerous without Hulk in the lineup. My money is on an under—probably fewer than three goals total, since both sides look like they’ll play it safe. Plus, let's not forget how LA Galaxy played their absolute hearts out in that first game against Real Madrid last year (they were a bit more relaxed back then, sure, but still...)

Real Madrid vs. Man City (Total goals 1st half under 1.5) @1.55

The opening match of the group stage—and what a brutal group this turned out to be... Given Real Madrid's sluggish start to the season and the sheer caliber of both squads, I suspect we won't see them charging forward with full intensity right from the whistle. It’ll likely be a cautious affair at first—just two giants feeling each other out... Usually, the odds for matchups of this magnitude hover between 1.25 and 1.40, but with the current pricing, there's genuine value here. Good luck to everyone...

It’s the opening match of the group stage—a tough group, too. Real Madrid hasn't exactly looked sharp at the start of this season, and you're looking at two powerhouses here. Honestly, I suspect they might not come out swinging full force right away—maybe just a bit of a feeling-out process early on... typically, the odds for matchups like this hover between 1.25 and 1.4, but given these specific numbers, I think it's actually worth a shot. Good luck, everyone.

I actually see things quite differently—personally, I think they'll come out aggressive and play an open game. 🙂
Since it's the very first group stage match, everything is still up in the air, and Real Madrid doesn't really know any other way to play besides going for it. 🤷

I'm going to take a shot at this double:

Borussia Dortmund - Ajax 1 1.45@SS
After that lackluster showing in the Champions League last year, Dortmund is clearly looking to make an impact this season. That said, being tossed into what everyone is calling the "group of death" has probably rattled their composure a bit. Still, they absolutely have to go all out against this first opponent; on paper, they are objectively the superior side compared to Ajax, and anything less than three points would be a disaster.

PSG - Dynamo Kyiv 1 1.65@SS
It’s interesting because just a few days ago, Zlatan Ibrahimović suggested that the Champions League isn't the top priority for this French squad this year. But let's be real—we all know how much Zlatan dreams about lifting that trophy. Of course, the team needs time to find their rhythm, but with a roster this stacked, they should be aiming for at least the round of 16, if not more. Honestly, he's capable of carrying them to a win against the visitors from Kyiv on his own. Even though Kyiv has bolstered their squad this year, they're still trailing Shakhtar Donetsk by six points. To be fair, PSG hasn't looked incredibly convincing in their domestic league lately, but after picking up two straight wins, it's clear things are finally starting to click.

And here is a lineup featuring three defensive midfielders—who knows... 🤣 personally, I think it's a value 🙂

After that underwhelming performance in the Champions League last year, Dortmund is definitely looking to make their mark this season. Still, their opening opponent is exactly the kind of side they need to hunt down all three points against, as they are objectively the superior squad compared to Ajax.

Dortmund 1:0 (Robert Lewandowski😁)
PSG 4:1

I hope someone followed along with these picks. Then again, most people probably cashed in on the LA Galaxy game anyway, so it doesn't really matter.🤣🤣

I haven't had a chance to look at the starting lineups just yet—but for tonight's matchup, I am definitely eyeing Manchester United at -1 with odds of 1.51 over at Pinnacle.

Maybe throw in a little reasoning here? Like, why would anyone take a handicap at such a ridiculous price? 😕
Besides, our local sportsbooks are giving us 🤷@ 1.80

Besides, our betting lines are sitting at around 1.80. 🤷

Based on my experience from previous seasons, I know just how difficult it is for a single team to pull off a handicap win—because, even if it sounds like a cliché, everyone is playing high-level football these days. Given my specific betting style, which focuses on maximizing value, I decided to take the Asian Handicap at -1. This means that if Manchester City wins by exactly one goal, my stake is simply returned. To be honest, it’s only happened a handful of times where my team leads 2-0, only for some disaster to happen in the 93rd minute that completely chills my blood. For those who want to gamble more aggressively, there is the -1.5 handicap available on Pinnacle, paying out at 2.0—so, by all means, go for it. Personally, I stuck with the -1, partly to protect my stake and partly because I can't tell if the coach will play it safe with this squad, or if he'll overthink things because it's the Premier League or because of the opponent's reputation. One thing is absolutely certain, though: Man Utd is at least two classes above them. I hope that makes things a bit clearer for you. Cheers.

Given my specific betting style, I opted for the Asian Handicap at -1. Basically, if Manchester City wins by just one goal, I get my stake back. Honestly, I’ve had too many heart-stopping moments where my team is up 2-0 and then some random goal in the 93rd minute just ruins my entire night. If anyone wants to chase that 1.5 handicap that Pinnacle pays out at 2.0, be my guest. Personally, I went with the -1—partly for the safety of the stake, and partly because I can't tell if the manager is going to play it safe, focus on the Premier League standings, or just respect the opponent's name. One thing is absolutely certain: Man Utd is easily two classes above them. Hopefully, that clears things up for you. Cheers.

My bad, I didn't realize we were talking about AH 👍
It makes sense now, and the bet actually holds water—just maybe include the reasoning right away next time 😉

It didn't even say anything about AH, and comparing these two handicaps is just apples and oranges.

FC Barcelona vs. Spartak Moscow: Over 2.5 goals at 3.25 odds

There isn't much point in overanalyzing FC Barcelona, as everyone understands they are the heavy favorites heading into this matchup... but honestly, betting on them at 1.10 feels like a total waste of money, even if I fully expect them to cruise through. My take is that even if their finishing is a bit off today, they should still manage to find the back of the net at least twice, which makes this bet feel pretty similar to just backing Spartak to score. I’ve been digging into some of Spartak's recent stats, and if my memory serves me right, they’ve managed to score in only three official matches since the New Year, and that isn't because they're playing in a weak league or anything... They generally prefer an attacking style, though they probably won't play quite so openly here, but their manager is already hinting that they have what it takes to catch FC Barcelona off guard. Speaking of which, the manager is Unai Emery—who previously led Valencia CF and UD Almería—so he knows FC Barcelona inside and out and certainly understands how to set up a counter... To my mind, this specific odd offers real value and stands out as the most profitable play for today's game. We know the FC Barcelona defense can be prone to those unforced errors, especially early in the season, and while it’s always a bit of a gamble, knowing FC Barcelona will likely hold about 70% possession, I decided to put a smaller stake on this one...

Richard Young10 said:Real Madrid vs. Dynamo Moscow, both teams to score + Over 2.5 goals @ 3.25

Don't waste my breath talking about Real Madrid. Everyone knows they’re the heavy favorites here. But betting on them at 1.10? Total garbage. Even if they cruise to a win, there's zero value there. I expect Real to find the net at least twice, even if they're having an off night finishing. Basically, this bet is just as good as betting on Dynamo to score. I checked the stats on Dynamo, and if I'm right, they've gone scoreless in almost all their games since New Year's—and they aren't even playing in a bad league. They usually go for an aggressive style, but they won't play wide open here, though their coach is promising an upset. Speaking of which, the manager is Unai Emery. He coached Real before and knows exactly how to mess with them. For me, this is the best value on the board today. Real's defense tends to slip up, especially early in the season. It's a gamble, sure, and Real will probably hold 70% possession, but I'm throwing a small amount on this.

Well, there goes the neighborhood. Hit the 2.80 instead.🙂

One pick for tomorrow's Europa League action:

Udinese vs. Anzhi Makhachkala — Anzhi (-1+) at odds over 2.40 on DraftKings or BetMGM

Looking at this matchup, I really think there’s some serious value in backing the Russians, given they're playing out of their minds right now. Betting on them to win by two seems a bit too conservative when you look at these lines, though... Word is Udinese might rotate their squad and lean on some bench players to keep the starters fresh for their big clash against AC Milan. Meanwhile, Anzhi has been absolutely clinical lately, coming off five straight wins where they somehow managed to hammer in 16 goals over just four games—including that absolute demolition of AZ Alkmaar on the road, winning 5-0. They’ve found the back of the net at least twice in seven of their last eight away matches across all competitions. In my book, seeing a side led by Samuel Eto'o take on a depleted Napoli lineup feels like a massive opportunity... definitely looks like value to me.

Today's double:

Bayern Munich vs. Valencia 1 1.5 @SS
I know plenty of people have already weighed in on this matchup, but here’s my take. This year's German champions have actually bolstered their squad even more than last season, whereas Valencia—despite some decent signings—is dealing with a massive injury crisis right now. The home side is only missing Gomez, but honestly, our guy in the center has stepped up and filled that void perfectly. It is absolutely vital to secure a win in the opening match, and I don't see the Bavarians playing any kind of cautious games here.

Shakhtar vs. Nordsjaelland 1 1.3 @SS
The Ukrainian champions are the clear favorites in this one. They have the Champions League pedigree, a demonstrably superior roster, and a massive chip on their shoulder after getting knocked out of the group stage last year—something they certainly didn't intend to happen. On the other side, the Danes are making their debut; while they aren't hit hard by injuries, they do have a slight handicap: they lost their derby against Copenhagen last Saturday in the dying minutes after leading most of the game. They definitely lack depth, so fatigue should start to set in around here.

The Ukrainian champions are the clear favorites here. They have the Champions League experience, a objectively superior roster, and they're hungry to make up for last year's group stage exit—which I'm sure wasn't part of their plan. The Danes are making their debut; they don't have any major injuries, but there's one small handicap: they lost their derby against Copenhagen last Saturday, blowing it in the final minutes after leading most of the game. Their bench isn't exactly deep either, so fatigue should start to set in.

I agree. Shakhtar is in great form, and after getting burned in the CL last year, I think they'll come out swinging this season.

After the big win by the local powerhouse yesterday brought in some decent cash, some people might be feeling too cautious today, but since this looks tempting to me, I’m going for the handicap 0:3 on Shakhtar at @6.50 in SS with a stake of 2/10. Let's see if my luck holds up.☕

Richard Young10 said:Real Madrid vs. Spartak Moscow - Away win & Over 2.5 goals at +325

I mean, there's really no point in overanalyzing Real Madrid—everyone knows they’re massive favorites here. But honestly, taking them at 1.10 odds? That’s just not worth the juice, even if I'm pretty sure they'll cruise through. I'm expecting Real to find the net at least twice, even if their finishing is a bit off today, which basically makes this bet feel similar to just betting on Spartak to score. I was digging through some Spartak stats, and if I'm remembering correctly, they haven't scored in only three official matches since New Year's—and it's not like they're playing in some bottom-tier league or anything. They usually love an open, attacking game, though they probably won't play that wildly here, but their manager is out there claiming they can pull an upset against Real. Plus, the coach is Unai Emery—you know, the guy who used to manage teams like Almeria and Valencia—so he knows the Real setup inside and out and probably has a few tricks up his sleeve to counter them. Personally, I think these odds have actual value, maybe even the best play on the board today. Real's defense tends to slip up sometimes, especially early in the season, so while it's always a bit of a gamble, since Real will likely hold about 70% possession, I figured I'd throw a small amount on it.

That doesn't change much, but Emery coached Almeria and Valencia, he never actually managed Real😉
