Last night, right around the 62nd minute, I put a $2 parlay on Barcelona—and man, they just couldn't find the back of the net. Then, out of nowhere at the very end, they actually 👋
.
Looking at today's slate, I’ve got both English derby matches pegged for "both teams to score." Both Arsenal and City play such an open, attacking style, while Liverpool always seems to step up their game against the heavy hitters. As for Man Utd—they've got a killer offense right now—though I'm still wondering if we'll see Rooney starting or if it's strictly Van Persie's show
. I'm eyeing Hannover at 2.60 as a solid play against bottom-of-the-table Hoffenheim, and Napoli at 2.30 looks tempting too. Personally, I think Malaga should hold their own as favorites against an Athletic Bilbao side that looks a bit out of sorts lately🤷. I also think Lyon at 2.90 against Lille is a great value pick; they seem like the more talented squad, even if they didn't get quite as much rest after their European commitments
.
So, here's the dilemma: which of these six picks should I actually pull the trigger on? Should I go with a system bet?

It’s just RVPs playing out there, honestly, not Rooney.

As for me, I’m putting my money on these favorites in the weekly sweep:

Werder 1 - Stuttgart is dealing with some significant roster gaps right now, especially after that grueling match in the Europa League. They aren't exactly firing on all cylinders lately, whereas Werder seems to be finding their rhythm and playing better with every game.

Twente 1 - My reasoning here is purely based on the talent gap between Twente and Heerenveen. Heerenveen has offloaded way too many key players; they just don't have the depth anymore to compete with the heavy hitters like Twente, PSV, or Ajax.

Manchester City 1 - I could easily pivot to a goals-based bet here, which wouldn't be a bad move, but I’m sticking with a straight home win. Their squad is simply superior. The only real wildcard is whether Pep decides to get experimental with the lineup again.

Copenhagen 1 - Like brightviper173 mentioned earlier, they are steadily finding their footing. They've climbed to the top of the table and are facing an opponent currently sitting dead last. Even if the Europa League schedule starts to take a toll, I think their bench is deep enough to handle it.

Lazio 1 - They’ve had a stellar start to the season—three wins and a respectable draw away at Tottenham's stadium. They have plenty of rotation options, so fatigue shouldn't be an issue. Genoa, on the other hand, tends to play much better when they're at home.

Galatasaray 1 - That performance against United was impressive; honestly, a little luck and they could have walked away with a point. Now they're facing a side that just got promoted to the top flight, making them clear favorites.

Benfica 2 - It actually surprised me how much they rested their starters against Celtic; it was almost like they were overconfident that they couldn't lose. That might actually work in our favor for today's odds. Besides, Academica had a brutal matchup against Plzen in Europe, and I doubt they have the depth to rotate effectively to combat fatigue.

St. Gallen 1 - This one is a pure momentum play. The home side is riding a three-game winning streak, while the visitors are reeling from three consecutive losses.

Club Brugge vs. Cercle Brugge 1 1.40
Vardar vs. Sileks 2 1.45
K - 2.03

I think these matchups are pretty much a lock. Vardar is playing lights out in their league lately... honestly, they've won six straight and their goal differential is like 18 to 4. Meanwhile, Sileks is having a rough time—they've lost three, tied two, and only grabbed one win, with a shaky 5:13 goal spread. If you just look at current form and who’s scoring, Vardar should easily take it 3:0. Maybe throw in a goal for Sileks since they're playing at home, so a 1:3 score feels realistic to me.
As for the first game, I don't have much else to say. For Belgian standards, the home team is playing way too good—just super efficient and strong. A 3:0 win seems like a safe bet in my book.
I mean, betting wouldn't even exist if everything was easy to predict, right? But hey, I didn't go crazy with these picks, so fingers crossed!

Seattle Sounders vs. Portland Timbers

The visitors are in a massive bind because their midfield is basically non-existent today. With players like Miller, Davis, Thompson, and Anderson all sidelined, they're facing a huge gap in the center. On top of that, they’re missing key defenders Groven and Sigurdsson due to injuries and suspensions. Even their striker, Magnussen, is a total question mark for this matchup.

Perhaps for the next installment, we might consider moving this discussion to a more appropriate thread; if More or Eric Fox7 feel this isn't quite the right fit, they should probably feel free to migrate the conversation to the relevant topic...

Yesterday was, I must say, an absolutely brutal day for my picks. Personally, I had three strong favorites in my sights: Inter (to win and cover the spread), the Seattle Seahawks (to win and cover), and Real Madrid (to win and cover)...

Believe it or not, Inter managed to ruin eight of my parlays; in some instances it was a straight win, while in others it was the handicap that got me. I suppose on six of those tickets, I was still holding out hope for Real, provided they pull through.😉
Sometime tomorrow, I’ll likely upload the screenshots to the "One Bad Beat" thread, assuming Real finishes things up properly first.

Looking ahead to Real today... what can one even say? Barcelona has pulled ahead by 11 points, and I honestly don't see even a 0.001% chance that Real allows that gap to remain standing after today.

With two matchdays left until the massive derby at the stadium, the schedule looks like this: Barca travels to face Sevilla next week, while Real plays at home against Deportivo.

If—and I mean *when*!☕—they beat Rayo Vallecano today, they'll be sitting just 8 points behind. If we assume they handle Deportivo easily, and considering Barca might stumble in their away game against Sevilla... well, heading into that derby, the folks in Madrid have every reason to believe they could close the gap to just 2 points. If you think otherwise, please, do try to convince me.😉

If anything other than a Real victory happens today, we could be looking at a 14 to 16 point deficit. If that happens, it's basically "goodbye" to the title race, as the championship would be effectively decided by September. I doubt the superstars won't allow that to happen, which leads me to believe...

Rayo Vallecano vs. Real Madrid: 2 (1.30)
Rayo Vallecano (h1:0) vs. Real Madrid: 1 (1.80)
Rayo Vallecano (h2:0) vs. Real Madrid: 3 (3.20)

If anyone could give me the lowdown on Anzhi... I've been staring at the stats, but we all know statistics are just a fancy way of getting screwed.
Either way, I’m looking at pairing them against Real Madrid. It gives me a pretty solid +134 return on the favorite. 🙂

Either way, I'd pair them against Real Madrid. Getting a decent 2.34 line on the favorite is tempting. 🙂

Better off looking at those Swedish teams playing today. Anzhi is fine, but Alania looked sharp against CSKA—even if they did get blown out 3-0. I’d pass on this one. You don't want to travel to a team that actually knows how to create chances.

Chicago Fire vs. Columbus Crew 1p X 2,20
The game's being held at the Levadia stadium—well, let's call it a neutral site—so the Fire aren't really getting that home-field advantage everyone expects... which is a huge factor here.
Honestly, Chicago is a total mess right now. Their confidence is shot, morale is basically in the gutter, and their league performance has been pathetic—not to mention that absolute disaster of a game they had in Ljubljana... just embarrassing.
They haven't won a single home game this season. Seriously, they’ve only managed to find the back of the net twice.
Columbus is also from the East Coast area, but they’re looking way sharper lately. Honestly, they probably have a legit shot at walking away with a solid result today.
They kept most of the squad from last year, so they’ve got more experience... plus, they’ve got Bajevic on the sidelines, who is an absolutely top-tier, proven coach in the States.
Looking at the trends, Columbus has played two straight 0-0 halves, and Chicago is seeing the same thing—their last match was a 0-0 halftime score, and before that, it was 1-1 at the break.
This is a massive game for the home side. If they lose, the crisis just gets deeper, the fans are gonna be livid, and the coach, J. Ferreira, is likely staring down a pink slip... leaving the club stuck at the bottom of the table.
Just watch out early in the game... things could get dicey right at the kickoff.
Historically, these two teams play tight, low-scoring affairs. Out of their last five matchups, four of them were deadlocks at halftime.
I'm betting they stick to that same gritty, defensive style today.

05.16.12, Columbus Crew - Chicago Fire 0 : 1 (0 : 0)
05.02.12, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 1 : 1 (0 : 1)
01.22.12, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 1 : 0 (0 : 0)
09.17.11, Columbus Crew - Chicago Fire 1 : 1 (0 : 0)
02.26.11, Chicago Fire - Columbus Crew 1 : 1 (1 : 1)

2nd game against the last guy... LA looks like they're 6-2-1 with 23 goals scored and 7 against... lately they've been on fire, maybe winning 5 straight+3
Portland is more like 1-3-5 with 8:10

My bad if I messed anything up for anyone... honestly, this just looked like such a total gift that I kind of lost my head and maybe went a bit too heavy, like I put half my bankroll on it or something...🙂

Good luck everyone, I'm gonna go take a bit of a longer break

Gonna give the German league a shot today

My first single is Cologne vs. FSV Frankfurt at 2.10

Then there's this parlay

E. Frankfurt/over 1.5 goals - B. Dortmund to win at 1.60
Schalke (1.5) - Mainz under 1.5 goals at 1.55
Total odds: 2.48

So, about that first one—Cologne had a pretty rough start to the season, but I guess you can't judge them just by the scoreboard. Looking at their recent games, they actually play decent ball, maybe just missing too many sitter shots. They swapped out half the roster, but they picked up some solid talent too, and the goal is still the same—get back to the top tier. I think they can still make it, though they really need to start pulling off wins once they get their rhythm down. Fingers crossed they do it this time.
As for the other two—Energie and Dortmund both love playing aggressive, attacking football. Energie has been such a wild card lately, while the visitors haven't quite hit the results they wanted. Honestly, I feel like this could go either way with a draw, but I'm thinking there will be goals. Dortmund definitely should score, and maybe the home side can ride that momentum from their recent form and scoring streaks.
Schalke and Mainz? Probably going to be a gritty one. Schalke rarely plays in these crazy high-scoring shootouts, so I’m hoping it stays that way. Mainz might play super defensive, maybe just sitting back to catch them on the break after seeing how Schalke's been playing. Meanwhile, the home team will be trying to crack a tight defense. I guess Huntelaar might find a way, but Farfan isn't exactly a clinical finisher—more like someone who relies on rebounds or just blasting it.
Just need a little luck, I guess. That's about it.
Good luck everyone, not just the bettors!

Looks like some people already placed bets on the matchup between the local town team and the big club... I say go with the underdog scoring a goal instead of actually winning
The starting lineup for the big club against the locals includes names like Ivan Kelava, Romeo Mitrović, Ante Puljić, Tonel, Šime Vrsaljko, Josip Pivarić, Arijan Ademi, Adrian Calello, Marcelo Brozović, Mehmed Alispahić, Mateo Kovačić, Ivan Peko, Bryan Carrasco, Ivan Krstanović, and Ante Rukavina.

Since this massive club has a history of getting knocked around by small-town teams in the cup, I’m putting my money on the underdogs finding the back of the net rather than an outright upset... if they pull it off, cool, but let's be real, the favorites are probably too deep for a shocker today after those last two losses, especially since they've got a huge rivalry game against the LA Galaxy this Saturday and then a big match against Dynamo Kyiv next week...

The first leg is FC Köln vs. FSV Frankfurt at 2.10 😁

The second one is this parlay

Eintracht Frankfurt/Away - Dortmund to win at 1.60 😁
Schalke (Over 1.5) - Mainz Under 1.5 at 1.55 😁
Total odds: 2.48

I might just cash out early before both games even wrap up, but hey, I've got a reason... looking for that sweet, sweet profit 😍

AC Milan vs. Rosenborg tomorrow
It’s pretty obvious.
Look, even though Milan has been absolutely trash and hasn't managed a single win at San Siro this season, they just have to pull it off. They've swept their last eight home games against Cagliari. Plus, Robinho is finally back in the mix.
Rosenborg is fighting for the title and they're closing in on the end of the season, but they've choked in their last two home matches—just ended up in draws. Now they're facing a KupS side that they usually walk all over, which is the perfect chance for them to reclaim the top spot.
I'm hoping I can double my money because the odds on those two bets sit at 2.1

Atlanta United (Moneyline) - Orlando City Draw 1.65
Bayern Munich / Dortmund - Hamburg Yes 1.70

Lakers - 2.80

The logic for that first matchup is pretty straightforward, I guess. Neither Atlanta nor Orlando have even played a single home game yet this season. Since they’re basically evenly matched—Orlando is slightly stronger on paper, but Atlanta has the home-field advantage—a halftime draw feels like the most logical play. But, uh, just to be safe, I went with Atlanta Moneyline over the Draw.
For the second one, I was really torn between picking Stuttgart or Bayern. Stuttgart absolutely needs this win, like, it's non-negotiable for them, but I'm not totally sold on how the visitors will hold up. Bayern doesn't score a ton lately, but I'm hoping their offense can exploit Hamburg's shaky defense. Plus, Hamburg has been looking better lately in terms of both results and overall flow, so maybe they'll manage to find the net. Both teams desperately need the points, so they'll probably attack hard.

Good luck everyone, not just the bettors!

1. AC Milan welcomes Cagliari, and after a three-game winless drought, I have a feeling the clouds might finally be parting for them. The Rossoneri have been struggling quite significantly lately; they’ve managed only three points from four league matches and are sitting down in 15th place. To make matters worse, they haven't even managed to find the back of the net once in front of their home crowd. Given that Cagliari is also playing poorly and languishing in 17th, they seem like the perfect candidate for Milan to finally turn things around. There's also a good chance Robinho returns to the lineup following his injury.
2. Inter heads out to face Chievo right after that absolute disaster where they surrendered a lead to Siena in the final moments. It was a massive shock to both the players and the fans, and I am fairly certain they will be playing with a point to prove today. Historically, Inter has held the upper hand against Chievo with a record of 12-5-4. Following the loss to Siena, the manager noted that they have no desire to lose games in such a heartbreaking fashion; he pointed out that while the defense isn't the issue, their aggressive attacking style leaves them far too exposed to counterattacks—exactly what happened against Siena—and that is something they definitely need to address. While Rodrigo Palacio is sidelined with an injury, Gabi Mudingayi and Joel Obi are expected to return to the squad.
3. Even though Betis holds the edge in head-to-head matchups (11-10-9), I find myself leaning toward Atletico. They’ve brought in a new striker, much like how a team might land a superstar like Aguero, and this guy has been absolutely clinical, netting five goals in just three league games. I’m crossing my fingers that he isn't rested today and can keep that scoring streak alive. Although Simeone has hinted at a physical, tough encounter, he clearly expects his side to maintain their current momentum.
4. Basel is in somewhat rough form as they prepare to host third-place Sion. After nine matches, Basel is stuck in 4th place, trailing the leaders by seven points and sitting five points behind Sion. Basel really cannot afford a collapse like this; a win is essentially mandatory if they want to remain competitive in the league. My only hope is that their top scorer, Streller, who has already bagged five goals, gets the start to help solidify their standing.
5. I know the least about this particular matchup, but Manchester is currently riding a wave of good form. Just a few days ago, they secured a tough away win against Liverpool, which should provide plenty of momentum. The big question is how much the League Cup means to Ferguson—will he decide to "stay out of the way" and give Newcastle a run? What I do know is that Manchester hasn't lost to Newcastle at Old Trafford in twenty years, which serves as a pretty strong motivator, if not for a full victory, then at least for a strong first half. Ferguson will likely rotate the squad, but even his bench depth is superior. The rumored starting XI includes Angelo Henriquez, Nick Powell, Alex Buttner, Michael Keane, and most likely captain Darren Fletcher. That is about as much as I could dig up!

Good luck!

Just a heads-up for anyone who happened to put some money down on the game between the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders—the halftime score was actually 0-1, not the 0-0 the betting sites are reporting right now 😉
