Do mods ever actually get banned?
Like, does a rotation happen after a user successfully wins an appeal?

Of course I can. There were instances, if I recall correctly. It’s just that at that point, they aren't moderators anymore.

So, how does one actually become a super mod or an admin?

What’s the actual distinction between them and people like you and me?

And why are they considered "super" when most of the other—so-called "regular"—mods aren't?

Furthermore, what is the process for becoming an admin, and what is their specific role here on Reddit?

It comes down to authority. A moderator handles their specific subreddits. A supermoderator can moderate the entire Reddit site and they're basically the direct boss of the regular mods. Then you have the administrators—they don't usually spend much time moderating posts; instead, they handle the backend stuff (depending on which admin we're talking about), like overseeing the moderators, dealing with angry users, technical support, site maintenance, and all that.

Supermoderators are also known as global moderators because of what I just mentioned.

That’s not even accurate—mostly because a whole bunch of people had their post counters "temporarily" reset.

I mean, I hear you, but it feels like we’re pretty much in the same ballpark there. 🤔 Honestly, I don't think I've ever even scrolled past a single thread where someone with over 30k posts on Reddit was actually complaining about their post count disappearing...

I have a question regarding warnings and bans...

Let’s say I receive a warning—for instance, a 35-point penalty—that carries a duration of, say, 20 days.

Once those 20 days have passed, the points and the warning are cleared from my record. Does that mean, effectively, that they are treated as if they never existed at all? 🤷

If that is indeed the case—how does the system handle it when these individual points are aggregated to trigger an actual ban? 🤷

The 35-point cards generally have a 30-day lifespan.

Correct. Once a card expires, those points are wiped out. Only points from active cards count toward the ban threshold.

The cards themselves don't just vanish. They stay visible on their respective posts and in the user records indefinitely. It's just the points that stop counting once they expire.
