velvetangler17 said:Hi everyone... I've finally decided to go through with nose surgery. I just finished my consultation with Dr. Glumičić and now I just need to pick a date and let them know... ugh, I'm definitely feeling some nerves about it, but we're all in this together! To anyone else heading in for surgery soon, I'm wishing you a speedy recovery and a result that looks exactly how you envisioned it. 👍 If anyone else happens to be seeing Dr. Glumičić in the near future, please reach out—let's chat... 😉

Hey, I'm actually planning on seeing Dr. Glumičić too. Could you tell me how much the procedure ended up costing you, and do they offer any financing or payment plans through American Express?

His standard rate is usually around $1,950, but I'm not entirely sure if he offers installment plans. 🤷

Alright... since you're from the South, can you tell me why you didn't stick with Glušac for your surgery? I've been torn between him and Zambell, and now I'm completely lost. Have you actually dealt with him? Being from a small town outside of Makarska, I haven't heard much good about his work, even though plenty of girls around here seem to swear by him.

Honestly, it would be best if Glušac, Zambelli, and Bastaić just teamed up and manufactured my nose for me instead. xd

Mine ended up being about $2,200. Since I don't live in Washington, D.C., I’m staying at his place in an apartment nearby. Honestly, I’m really happy with Glumičić—especially after the consultation. We just clicked immediately, no guesswork involved. When are you planning to go? And as for the payment plans... I'm not sure, so you should probably check directly with them. Good luck!

I’ve replied to a few private messages already, but since I want everyone to benefit, I’ll post some of the answers here that I think you all care about. I went to see Glumičić for my consultation, and the second I walked in, instead of walking in there demanding "I want this" or "I want that," I just asked him how he saw my nose and what he would actually recommend. Honestly, after he spoke, I didn't have a single thing to add or argue. He’s not pushy at all—he actually listens and makes you feel comfortable... at least, he did for me. I asked for a quote based on my specific needs, my goals, and the fact that I need to stay in a two-day recovery suite. It came out to $2,000, and if you want to talk about payment plans, it's best to contact them directly. As for Glušac... I don't know. Makarska is such a small town that I just got this gut feeling he was the right one for my nose. I’d go with him in a heartbeat—not that he isn't good, but sometimes you just have to trust your instinct. I ended up choosing Glumičić, and I’m crossing my fingers that everything goes perfectly. Once this is all over, I’ll be back here to let you all know how happy and satisfied I am.🙂 If anyone else needs info, just ask. Cheers, everyone! And yeah, the nerves are officially starting to kick in.😢

Well, I figured I should chime in now that I'm recovering from yesterday's surgery. Sadly, I have to quote this specific post because I went through the exact same nightmare. 👎 It was like the anesthesia didn't even touch me. I could actually feel the blood flowing, the throbbing, the aching... everything!! I talked to some of the other women who didn't have any issues with local anesthesia, but apparently, I'm just one of those unlucky ones. I guess the only silver lining is that since they gave me the heavy sedatives, I don't remember the worst of it, but make no mistake—I felt it. 😢 That’s why I’m telling everyone: just insist on general anesthesia, no matter what the doctors tell you.

Generally speaking, I feel okay today. Yesterday was absolutely brutal, but things are looking up a little bit today. Breathing through my mouth isn't really a huge deal—it just happens naturally—but my mouth is constantly bone-dry. The real struggle is having to lie in one single position all the time, and my eyes are incredibly swollen. My eyes are watering non-stop, my head hurts a bit, but I suppose I can get through it. I knew I was going to be bruised and swollen as much as humanly possible, but I think I held onto this irrational hope that maybe it wouldn't be that bad... well, hope is a damn lie. 😂

Hey ladies—seriously, don't do anything without general anesthesia!!!!

Hey there! Ugh, I feel so bad for you. 😢 Did it actually hurt during the surgery? I mean, I know you felt *something*, but was it sharp pain or more just a general sense of discomfort?
I heard some rumors that Tončić isn't exactly top-tier when it comes to anesthesia—apparently because they're being cheap with the anesthesiologists... honestly, who knows...

Does your nose hurt at all?

Well, look, the thing about nerve blocks is that they only numb the sensation, right? So, while you don't feel the cutting, when they start working on the bone structure, you definitely feel that. They do have anesthesiologists on staff, but they're reserved for other surgeries; this one is done under local anesthesia... I guess I don't really understand why they do it that way.🤷
My nose doesn't hurt right now, though my head feels a bit heavy and my eyes are acting up a little. But I've just been lying here with compresses on all day, so it's manageable. I suppose the first day is always the hardest.

Carol Diaz31 said:What’s the point of even using anesthesia if it only numbs the surface? It’s like, sure, you lose sensation in one spot, but when they start hammering away at your bones, you still feel every single bit of it. They have anesthesiologists on staff for other surgeries, but for this specific procedure, they’re just doing it under local... I honestly don't get why. 🤷
My nose is finally starting to behave, though I’ve still got this nagging headache drifting around and my eyes feel a bit heavy. Honestly, I’ve just been lying here with cold compresses on all day, so it's manageable. The first day is always the absolute worst.

It'll all pass eventually. Just hang in there. 🙂As far as I recall, an anesthesiologist actually has to be on hand even during procedures involving local anesthesia with sedation...
By the way... why on earth are they still swinging hammers at that? Isn't it a complete demolition job now anyway?

That’s just not how it works. I’ve had moles removed myself using nothing but local anesthesia... and even at the dentist, when they're pulling a tooth, you're under local anesthesia, so there's absolutely no need for an anesthesiologist to be standing right there in those cases. As for the specific surgical methods or what exact substances are used, I couldn't tell you—that really just depends on the procedure being performed.

Rebecca Thompson76 said:Just figured I’d jump in here too! So, if you don't have a deviated septum, you can still go through with it, but you'll have to cover the costs yourself. But if you *do* have one, they can usually do the aesthetic part at the same time—though, I guess it really depends on the doctor whether they charge extra for that (if they do, it shouldn't be more than $3,000, $1333). I actually just had my septum surgery about seven days ago, and my doctor went ahead and fixed a little bump on my nose while he was at it—totally free! Just a heads-up though, definitely ask him when you're scheduling everything. If you don't bring it up, they probably won't touch anything outside of what was originally planned, since changing the external shape means they have to change your medical diagnosis.

I have a deviated septum and I’d honestly love to get the cosmetic stuff done too... how does that process even work? Like, did you just see your primary doctor to get a referral and then schedule the consultation, or...?

I was reading up on regional anesthesia, actually.

Yeah, basically... I went to my doctor to get a referral and headed over to the Mayo Clinic for an exam (you don't really need an appointment for that part). An ENT checked me out there and ordered a sinus CT scan, and after that, we worked out a plan for surgery. I ended up getting it done within a month of our first talk. While we were planning everything, I asked if he could also fix a little bump on my nose, and he was totally down to do it. I actually just took my splint off today! I'm feeling pretty good about it—even though things are still super swollen, I think it’s gonna look awesome.

Kate Taylor59 said:By the way... why are they still hitting things with a small hammer? Isn't it all about "stripping" the surface now?

The word on the street is that using a little hammer is actually better than stripping it down... apparently, if you go too hard with the stripping process, you might end up with these annoying little bumps or imperfections. Plus, you supposedly need that "hammering" action to actually break through the bone... no amount of stripping is going to snap a bone, after all.😁

rustygardener172 said:They claim it’s better to just "hammer away with a mallet" rather than shaving things down... I guess they think shaving causes those little bumps later on. And apparently, you have to "use the mallet" to actually break the bone... because obviously, no amount of shaving is going to snap a bone. 😁

Wait, what mallet???
When they perform an osteotomy, they use scalpels to open up the sides of the nasal pyramid to reshape it—that's how you get it narrower or whatever shape you or the surgeon is aiming for.
And if someone specifically asks to just shave off a tiny bump, then yeah, they'll use a rasp for that.
That's usually how it goes in these hospitals (assuming you ask them to just smooth out a bump), but there's no way they're going to throw an osteotomy in there on the fly.
