I basically already knew all of this because I’ve spent a massive amount of time digging through research online and pouring over medical books. Honestly, my doctors here are essentially stuck in a state of doubt—they can't quite decide if it's strictly Sjogren or if it's actually overlapping with SLE. Personally? I am desperately hoping it's just Sjogren.

The only thing that really tripped me up was this whole business regarding the serum protein electrophoresis. I was doing some digging online and stumbled upon mentions of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and honestly, seeing that pop up made everything feel a lot less clear. It actually scared the hell out of me, seeing that connection in my results.

edit: I have one more little question: what exactly is a monoclonal protein? What would my results actually look like if that came back positive? Regarding what else might be elevated besides gamma globulins?

I don't have anything else to add, other than what I’ve already pointed out: some of these results are borderline, and when you factor in the symptoms, it’s leaning much more heavily toward SLE.
You did that too, and you were wrong about it. Period.

Hrvoje, I realized that was actually negative. I was just curious which specific value would have spiked if the test had come back positive. (I'm one of those people who needs to know every little detail, so if it ever does turn positive in the future, I want to be able to make sense of it myself right away.)

It would list the number and the class. But that kind of information gets sent over to malignant pathology.

Thanks so much!!!

Ma'am,

Are you certain all the spelling is correct? Specifically regarding that first word, carrus!

Is it possible that instead of carrus, it should actually be catarrhus?

If so, it would refer to what we call catarrhal respiratory issues—essentially an acute upper respiratory infection caused by a virus, typically accompanied by a fever and other breathing symptoms.

Are you absolutely sure you spelled everything right? I mean, specifically looking at that first word, carrus!

Could it be that instead of carrus, it was actually supposed to be catarrh?

If so, we're talking about what people call respiratory catarrh—basically an acute upper respiratory infection involving a fever and other breathing issues, usually caused by a virus.

Yeah, I am—I'm positive I wrote it down exactly how it was on the lab report. It’s possible the doctor got her letters mixed up; her American English isn't the best so maybe she struggles with writing too, or she was just rushing through things.😉
It's probably catarrh then, thanks a million!

Hi everyone, I could really use some help here... actually, make that a huge favor. I'm spiraling a little bit right now and honestly have no idea what to do. I went in for blood work yesterday because I’ve been worried about potentially picking up an STI... Here are my results (just the ones that fell outside the normal range): neutrophils 75.6 (44.0-72.0) and lymphocytes 18.1 (20.0-46.0)
My lymph nodes feel a little swollen, too.
I already tested negative for HIV, HBs Ag, and Hepatitis B and C... (Is it even possible for those to be false negatives?)
Is there any chance I've caught something, even though my partner at the time (this was a few years ago) swears he’s completely clear? Please, I really need some guidance—I don't even know who to turn to right now.🤷😕
HELP!!

Here are my full lab results: erythrocyte 4.55 (3.86-5.08), Hgb 135 (119-157), Hct 0.408 (.350-0.470), MCV 89.7 (83.0-97.0), MCH 29.7 (27.4-33.9), MCHC 331 (32-345), erythrocyte distribution 12.8 (9.0-15.0), platelets 238 (158-424), MPV 10.8 (6.8-10.4), leukocyte 7.9 (3.4-9.7), neutrophils 75.6 (44.0-72.0), # 6.00 (2.06-6.49), lymphocytes 18.1 (20.0-46.0), #1.43 (1.19-3.35), monocytes 5.6 (2.0-12.0), # 0.44 (0.12-0.84), eosinophils 0.4 (0.0-0.7), # 0.03 (0.00-0.43), basophils 0.3 (0.0-1.0), # 0.02 (0.00-0.06). I’m really hoping you can help ease my mind just a little bit. Honestly, I think I might be leaning a bit toward hypochondria—whenever I start digging around online and read about certain symptoms, I swear I start feeling them myself immediately (especially when it comes to AIDS stuff). Like, for instance, joint pain. I’ve also been feeling this tightness in my neck and arms, particularly right after a panic attack hits. I have this feeling that my lymph nodes are swollen, too. I’m 27. Sorry if there are any typos; I’m typing this on my phone!

Everything looks normal.
But honestly, none of this tells us anything about external infections.

What other tests would you suggest I get done? Also, is there any chance that serology results could come back as a false negative?

You haven't listed a single one of your serology results.

Evening everyone... I was hoping someone could explain this report to me in plain English. THANKS.
It’s for my kid...

On the imaging of the thoracic organs, there is a small, patchy shadow visible at the left base near the heart contour, which might indicate an early inflammatory infiltrate. Everything else inside the chest looks normal radiologically.

On the thoracic imaging, there is a small, uneven shadow visible at the left base near the heart contour, which might represent an early-stage inflammatory infiltrate. The rest of the intrathoracic status appears radiologically normal.

Basically, the radiologist is seeing something on the left side at the bottom of the lung that looks like it could be inflammation, but it's just getting started.

Thanks.
But she's actually feeling better now—we've been on the Sumamed for three days, and tomorrow is the last day.
Does that mean the initial inflammation is passing then? Like, is she finally over the hump?

does that mean the initial inflammation is finally clearing out, like, it's actually passing?

It’s probably clearing up since she's feeling better, but honestly, you can't really call it without looking at the rest of the labs (leukocytes, ESR, CRP, CBC) and matching it against the clinical picture from her physical exam)🙂

wiredcanyon2 said:It’s probably passing now—things are likely looking up—but honestly, you can't really make sense of that without looking at everything else together. You have to weigh it against the rest of the labs—you know, the leukocyte count, ESR, CRP, and D-dimer—and, more importantly, how you actually feel during a clinical exam. It’s all connected.🙂

Thanks.
So, we’re heading in for the follow-up this Friday to finally go over the rest of these lab results—fingers crossed everything actually turns out okay!

Does anyone have the expertise to take a look at my dream?
I suppose I’ll just have to wait and see which day the pain finally decides to show up..🤷
