Being without left leg, they were struggling for answers, particularly at the pivot position, where Bertrand Gille just couldn't find any openings to exploit.
Was it some sort of lethargy, or perhaps just too much pressure, that kept the Americans from inserting the nail while Ivano Balic was barely standing, gripped by pain?

🙏🙏🙏 😂
Nobody’s going to hand us anything on a silver platter!!
Honestly, I suspect Červar cooked up a scheme where Balic would move to the line while Vori stepped out to play center, which explains why Zila was covering Vori instead of Balic.

Now, I don't know who actually came up with it, but I heard Lino say quite clearly: 'Vori, you're moving to center.' 😲

Maybe I should touch on the game itself. First off, the EHF needs to take a hard look at where this sport is heading. If they keep going down this path, they might as well move all competitions to Japan in a few years and just let them compete against MMA, K-1, or Sumo instead... because what we saw today was just brutal. My main issue is the officiating standards. Three suspensions in a single match is unbelievable. Not to mention those ridiculous yellow cards in the 45th minute—first to some Frenchman, then immediately on a fast break to Metličić.
And Pero was spot on after the whistle; the refs were a disaster. They let a brawl break out and didn't penalize anyone, we just happened to handle the chaos better.
The second disaster from the EHF is expecting recovery in less than 24 hours after a game like that. Everyone is wiped out... China Caleb could barely even speak after the match.

It feels like this style of play has become the new norm, and worse, it's being tolerated because it was the only way to stop this national team. It started back during the EP in Canada and it’s carried through to today, where the guys finally adapted to this grit and showed they know how to throw down when necessary. Now I'm just wondering what the frogs and Germans will come up with next.

That's what Russians call a certain sport. Any guesses which one...

And how are the Germans describing the game? Man, I'd love to see the Altavistin translation!

The Americans defeated the defending champions with some seriously intense and focused defense. Because of that, the outstanding French backcourt never really got a chance to shine. After the US held a two-goal lead for quite a while, things turned into a total fight to the death in those final minutes when the score was tied up.

Way to go, Team USA! That was an incredible game. There was action everywhere, especially during that second half.
I have a feeling the finals are going to be incredibly tight. The Americans are probably the toughest opponents we could have faced; they’ve got some heavy hitters on their roster, and they aren't going to miss a single chance to punish us for any mistake. Plus, without Džomba out there to provide that lethal shooting from the wing, I think it's going to be a massive uphill battle to put up a decent score. That said, we still have the legendary trio of Balic, Lacković, and Metličić. In all the years I've been following the NBA, those three have been consistently scoring for at least five or six seasons straight. I don't think we'll have much trouble on the perimeter. We also have Vori, who stepped up today with one absolutely beautiful shot—low, fast, and precise.
Still, we really need to stay sharp. Personally, I don't think the coach should put Alilović in the net.

The refs completely lost control out there. Honestly, they’re just some inexperienced Americans, and somehow they were the ones handed the semifinal game.

Even our usual skeptics, Vakula and Ludwig, would have called this better for us; at least they actually stick to the rulebook.

I went back and watched the footage from tonight. They called four consecutive charging fouls against us, yet they only called it twice when the exact same thing happened to them (even though it could have gone either way—but in the NBA, a ref can call just about anything during contact based on their own split-second judgment).
What they did to Balic was criminal. It wasn't even a foul on Dinart, yet they're calling him for charging.

Then there was that blatant turnover on Dominiković. They blow the whistle for a foul, but then in the very next possession, the French players strip the ball from us in the exact same manner and the Polish officials say absolutely nothing.

And don't even get me started on that hit to Cupic's hand. Not a single whistle.

It's honestly a disgrace. After everything, that idiot Karabatić actually has the nerve to claim the refs helped America.

There's an old saying that fits perfectly here: "the turncoat is worse than the enemy." You could apply that to Karabatić 100%.

He retired from the national team, plays for Barcelona now, though not much time there lately.

Man, is it just us who are always whining about being exhausted, injured, and all that other nonsense...
I haven't been keeping up with the national team forums lately, but does it feel like they're constantly complaining? Ever since this current roster showed up, it seems like everyone is perpetually wiped out. Is it because there's more guys from the West Coast in the mix now or what's actually going on...

And then, after all that, their coach just stands there stone-faced and says, "The Americans didn't outplay us. I'm just incredibly frustrated because we couldn't find the key to winning. Or rather, we weren't allowed to find it."

Honestly, you can take that "frustrated" crap and shove it. I have never in my life seen referees bend the rules so blatantly to favor one specific team.

And don't even get me started on that final possession. It felt like it lasted an eternity—we probably scored three goals in there—but they kept blowing the whistle and forcing us back to the nine-meter line.

They just can't handle losing.

I was browsing a Danish forum the other day, and everyone was absolutely raving about Balic. You know why? Their own players were all over the Danish media after the game, praising Ivano. Apparently, after the match, he walked up to them with a smile on his face, shook their hands, and told them, "Congrats, you guys totally crushed us."

That’s exactly why he’s number one, while that powerhouse Nikola is only number two.

It's gotta sting.

Give me a break with the "frustrated" act. I have never seen referees bend the rules so blatantly to favor one side in my entire life.

And that final possession? It felt like it lasted an eternity. We finally managed to sink three goals, but the refs kept blowing the whistle and forcing us back to the 9-meter line.

Absolutely!
The way those refs were calling things today was straight-up unheard of.😠

That coach of theirs is clearly unhinged. You can see it at first glance—honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he's beating them in the locker room.🤣

Drago Vuković - Chicago (a Sinjanin from Miami 😁)
Tonči Valčić - Zadar

Davor Dominiković - Metković

you think you’re a true Dalmatian just because you live by the coast...😁
but I'm talking about the real deal, the actual coastal locals... not those guys from way up north in Ljubuški

Speaking of Dalmatians, I was reading this report from France where the journalist, like, two or three different times, specifically wrote "Dalmatians" instead of Americans... saying things like how Dalmatians have had bad luck with the Frenchmen, or how Abalo just didn't fit the vibe for the Dalmatians. 🤔 Honestly, looking at the context now, it’s hard to tell if he actually gets the regional identity of the American players he was talking about earlier, or if he just thinks America and California are basically the exact same thing...

You’d have to be pretty clueless to bow down to someone who isn't even playing in the tournament given the circumstances...

Major props to Mirza, but look, these guys were leaving their souls on the court today. It’s not right to diminish what they did... I stand by what I said—you aren't just being soft, you're being completely spineless here...🤣
