ironsurfer10 said:My cycle is a mess right now. Does anyone know if you can delay your period two months in a row?

Last month, I was headed to the coast right when my period was due, so my OBGYN put me on Logitech for ten days—five before leaving and five while away. It worked out perfectly; it arrived just as I got back.

Now, here's the thing... I'm heading back to the beach again, and my period is due at the exact same time.😠 Can I start taking Logitech a few days early again and stop after about ten days?

The timing would be ideal because I have surgery scheduled for September 13th, and I can't be menstruating during that window. If I push this month back to, say, August 20th, the following month should land around September 17th. Perfect timing.

Anyone?

I suppose I'll call the doctor, but the office isn't open until Thursday. I can't wait that long; I need to adjust my plans if delaying twice in a row isn't a good idea.

Don't play games with hormones.
Birth control is meant for regular use, not as a tool to postpone your period just because you're going on vacation.
They are hormones, not candy.
😉

Use tampons.

Hi there!

I’ve been feeling a little bit anxious lately, and since my doctor is out on summer vacation for a while, I don't really have anyone to turn to for a quick check-up...

So, here's the situation: my period was about 3 or 4 days late, which isn't unusual for me, but then I started experiencing this light spotting and discharge—sort of a pinkish color, similar to how things look on the first day of a cycle. It stayed like that for about three days before finally picking up a bit, but even then, it was incredibly light and only lasted four days total. Usually, over the thirteen years I've been dealing with this, my periods last a full week and are quite heavy.

Since we've been actively trying to conceive, 😍 I couldn't help but wonder if this might actually be early pregnancy, especially since I've read that some women experience light bleeding that mimics a period during those early stages. To be honest, I've been procrastinating on buying a pregnancy test—I think I'm just subconsciously afraid of being disappointed, if I'm being completely truthful with myself. Now, it’s been a little over a week since that brief period ended, and for the last two or three days, I’ve been dealing with this intense abdominal cramping, much like the discomfort I get right before my actual period starts. My stomach feels bloated and tight, too, which is starting to worry me. Is it even biologically possible to have another period just seven or eight days after the last one? Or could this be something else entirely?

I'm 30 years old, and I’m honestly a little unsure how to explain this without feeling like I'm being trivial, but I really need some perspective. Up until now, my periods have always been painful, but otherwise very regular. However, for the last two cycles, I’ve noticed that my flow is much lighter, and the blood itself seems really thick—almost like it's mucus-y rather than being totally liquid. In the past, when I go to the bathroom, the menstrual blood would just mix in with my urine, but lately, even after a quick trip to the restroom, the blood stays completely separate and just settles at the bottom of the toilet bowl, while my urine stays crystal clear, as if I weren't even on my period at all. Could this be pointing toward some kind of gynecological issue or maybe something related to my blood? Just for context, I had my last OB-GYN checkup about two months ago and everything came back perfectly normal. I also recently had some blood work done, and all my levels were more or less within the standard range.

Birth control pills are meant to be taken consistently every month, not just used as a way to delay your period because you're heading to the beach for vacation.
At the end of the day, we're talking about hormones here; you shouldn't be popping them like they're candy.
😉

Tampons.

Using tampons while swimming at the beach isn't really a great idea either, since you run the risk of picking up all sorts of infections. I actually dealt with some issues this past summer because I used them while vacationing, and my gynecologist told me never to do that again—she'd much rather I just delay my cycle instead.

Anyway, I gave my doctor a call on Wednesday, and she mentioned that I could technically delay my period twice in a row, but after that, I shouldn't use that "method" for at least a year. And regarding the tampons? Her answer was a hard no—absolutely do not go swimming with them!

I totally get where you're coming from.
Honestly, that whole thing never really rubbed me the wrong way, but hey—could be a hormonal thing or whatever.🤷

I think what you're experiencing is pretty standard; it’s just that you haven't dealt with this before, so it feels off.
If you aren't noticing any other red flags, I'd say just hang in there until your next cycle and see how things settle.
Honestly, I don't think you have anything to worry about.🙂

Honestly, that happens to me once in a while too, but I don't really let it get to me much

It feels a little off to me, but maybe I’m just not used to this style or haven't really looked into it before. 🤷 Anyway, thanks for the input, ladies!

I have my moments, too. It fluctuates. No need for concern; things tend to shift as the years go by.🙂

I'm getting a bit worried, and there’s no way I can get to my OB-GYN right now since everyone is out on summer vacation...

My period was late by about 3 or 4 days, which is normal for me. Then I started having this spotting and discharge—pinkish, like the first day of a period. It lasted three days before things finally picked up, but even then, it was unusually light and only lasted four days. Usually, my cycle lasts a full week and is quite heavy. This has been my pattern for all 13 years I've had it.

Since we're trying to conceive 😍 I wondered if it might be pregnancy. I read that you can have something resembling a period during early pregnancy, just lighter than usual. But I procrastinated buying a test. I don't know why... maybe fear of disappointment. It's been about a week or so since that bleeding ended, and for the last 2 or 3 days, my stomach has been cramping like it's about to start again. My abdomen feels bloated and tight... and it's starting to worry me. Is it possible to get my period again after only 7 or 8 days? Or what else could this be?

I honestly don't get why you haven't bought a pregnancy test yet. 😕
There's no way for us to know if you're pregnant 😁 or if your period is actually coming 😁
The only thing I can tell you is that a friend of mine had a very light, short period when she was pregnant, took a test afterward, and it was positive.
But that's just hearsay. 😉
Bottom line: go to a drugstore and get a test. Besides, there's always some doctor available who isn't on vacation if you don't feel like waiting for yours. Personally, I wouldn't wait if I were you.

Help me out here, please!

I’m feeling a bit lost and don't know what my next move should be...

I'm 19 years old, and normally my cycle is pretty regular, coming in every 30 to 34 days. However, earlier this year, I was dealing with all the stress of taking entrance exams for college, so I tried to use Yasmin to shift my cycle around a bit. My last period was on June 6th, and since then, there's just been nothing at all...

I really don't think I could be pregnant, though, because the last time I was with my boyfriend was back in late January...

Thanks so much in advance for any advice...

Maybe you should just go talk to whoever transcribed your Yasmin🤷

I just decided to wing it myself...

Yasmin, you just winged it? No hormone monitoring at all?😕

I mean, what are we even supposed to tell you? At the end of the day—your doctor knows best.🤷
Or just wait until you get...

I know I probably went a little overboard with everything I said earlier, but you know how it is when it feels like you only get one shot at getting into college...

Look, please don't go playing around with your hormones or taking medication without professional advice—especially not just to deal with something like college entrance exams. I’m sorry, really, but you just have to push through it; it isn't like this is your first rodeo.
It’s particularly risky if you start a cycle and then abruptly stop. Personally, because of my blood work, I can't touch birth control pills—at least not for a while—and you just shouldn't mess with that stuff. I mean, we've all seen those horror stories in the news about people who skipped the basic blood tests and hormone checks before starting.

@Linda Diaz3/">@@Linda Diaz3, you should definitely go see a gynecologist.

I know you shouldn't play games with this kind of stuff, but I guess there's no other way to look at it...

Maybe I didn't explain myself very clearly:
I took Yasmin toward the end of May, and then my period came on June 6th, but I haven't had one since then...

Quick question.

My period lasted about a day and a half.
Then nothing for three days.
On the fourth day, I had some light brown spotting—just a little bit.
After that? Zilch.
Now it’s day five and still nothing.
I did pee on the morning my period was due, so there's no doubt about the pregnancy test.
🤷

Last month, I started taking Dufastone. It was the first of three cycles I'm supposed to go through.
Lately, my periods have been pretty light anyway—usually lasting 3 or 4 days followed by another 3 or 4 days of spotting.
So, I was really hoping the progesterone would finally get things back on track.
Instead, things just got worse.
🤷

Any suggestions?

Fine, I'll go get my hormone levels checked during my next cycle, but I'd love to hear what you guys think in the meantime. 😬
Why would it be this short? 😕

Please forgive me for starting a new thread, but I haven't been able to find a solution to my problem anywhere.
Over the last six months, my menstrual cycle has been steadily getting shorter. I am 25 years old, have one child, and have experienced one miscarriage. Within this six-month period, my cycle has gone from seven days down to just one day. I suppose this isn't normal. I wanted to ask for your opinions on this. Thank you for your replies.

My cycle is usually incredibly predictable—exactly 28 days, every single time. But this month? Everything is completely thrown off. My last period started on October 4th, which was right on schedule for my 28-day count, but then I started bleeding again today, October 21st. That’s only day 17 of my cycle! Has anyone else dealt with this kind of sudden irregularity? What could even cause a cycle to flip like this out of nowhere? I haven't been under any major stress or anything unusual, so the fact that this is happening is honestly messing with my head...
