Wait, did I hear that right? Does soaking in a hot tub or a heated pool actually "speed up" your period or just delay it?
I’ve heard people say it’s something about dilating the vessels... but honestly, I have no clue if there's any truth to that...

And what about those old-school natural remedies, like certain teas or whatever?

The thing is, I’m heading down to Miami, and my "monthly visitor" is planning to show up exactly on that date...
I really don't want to deal with tampons because they're just such a hassle, and I know I won't be able to avoid them the whole time anyway, but I'd give anything if I could at least get a break for half the trip...

Push it in deeper. If you set it right, you shouldn't even feel it. 🙂

You shouldn't mess around with hormones; they aren't exactly something you can just pick up off a drugstore shelf without a prescription.
As for delaying things—there isn't a specific "period delay pill." It’s really just about using hormonal birth control, like >, to manipulate the cycle. You can speed up the onset by stopping the pills a few days early, or you can try to push it back slightly, though in my experience, delaying it usually just results in much lighter bleeding during the next actual period.

My humble suggestion? Go talk to a doctor. They spent years in med school and residency for a reason, after all...

Found this on a health forum, some cybermed site...
"I've got a trip coming up early next year, and honestly, having my period during it would be a total nightmare. Based on how things are looking, it’s scheduled to hit right when I'm away. I don't take birth control pills or use anything else like an IUD or whatever. Can anyone give me some advice on how to trigger it to show up a few days early, or maybe just push it back a bit so it doesn't start until after I'm home?"

Prof. Dr. Josip Djelmiš

"Dear lady,
If you want to delay your period, here is what you can do: starting a few days before you expect it to begin, you can start taking 10 mg Norethindrone tablets once a day. Just keep taking them for those extra days you need while you're traveling. "

Well, that's exactly what I need, so I'm heading to my OBGYN tomorrow to get it sorted...

Just head down to the pharmacy... you can ask them there, but basically, you need to pick up some pills. You should start taking them about two days before you actually get it, and then just keep going for the whole week. I'm not entirely sure what they're called, though...

You seriously think you can just wing that without a recipe? 😕

You aren't going to get any hormonal pills without a prescription. If you're already on birth control, then it’s pretty straightforward. But if you aren't, you really need to sit down and talk it through with your gynecologist first.
I don't take anything myself, but I just make sure to plan my whole year—especially my diving trips—around my cycle...

I think I’m starting to lose my mind too—my period is already a month late. As far as I know, we’ve always been super careful with protection, so nothing has ever broken. It feels a little silly to run back to the gynecologist since I just had a full checkup two months ago... ultrasound, Pap smear, everything came back perfect. I’m trying really hard not to freak out. I get these cramps like my period is right around the corner, but then all those PMS symptoms just vanish out of nowhere. It’s been doing that for days now. A friend is nudging me to just go grab a pregnancy test... seeing other people going through the exact same thing makes me feel a bit less alone. My cycle is usually a little unpredictable, but never a whole month late. I haven't been stressed out, and I haven't lost any weight either; if anything, I've put on a few pounds because I've been sitting at my desk studying so much. I honestly have no clue what's going on. Hopefully, it shows up soon... 🙄

Your period is a month late, you haven't even bothered to take a pregnancy test despite being sexually active, and suddenly it's "stupid" to see a doctor?

I'm honestly trying to find a polite way to tell you that you've got issues with your brain, not just your cycle, but nothing is coming to mind. 😢

I’m trying to find a polite way to tell you that maybe it's not just your cycle that's acting up, but your common sense too, but I'm coming up empty... 😢

1. If I make sure there isn't a single air bubble left when I put a condom on, the chances of it breaking are slim to none. Every time we've been intimate, the condom looked perfectly fine, and you can definitely tell when that's the case.
2. I actually went to my OB-GYN recently and everything came back totally normal, including my Pap smear. A year ago, my period was about two weeks late, and my doctor just told me, "The ultrasound looks great, it'll show up soon." That's why I'm just waiting it out instead of rushing back in...
3. Look, we can't all be geniuses like you. You're clearly the smartest person here, since you feel comfortable calling everyone else an idiot without even reading their posts properly...

. clearly we can't all be as genius as you

Yeah, being this smart is a massive curse on humanity. 😢

I was seventeen when my period skipped. I wasn't even close to my fertile window—thanks to a long-distance relationship—and we used protection, so the odds were basically zero. Plus, I'd just had a totally normal checkup at my doctor's office right before. Still, after taking a home pregnancy test, I went back to the clinic for an exam. I didn't run to some online forum to seek comfort by saying "it's probably nothing serious." Honestly? I don't get how someone thinks it's stupid to see a doctor, but perfectly fine to post on a message board saying, "idk what's happening but I'll probably bleed soon."

Kimberly Davis52 said:I am truly hoping that women who experience a delayed period will finally realize that visiting a gynecologist—just for peace of mind, you know?—wouldn't actually kill them! 🙂 🙂

And let's hope it isn't being caused by global warming!!!🤣
This is honestly one of the most hilarious things I have ever read online:

Oh, women... my own cycle is seven days late, so this post hit me right where it counts! Don't you think it might be due to this massive heatwave and all these crazy weather shifts?

Then there was this woman on a pregnancy forum who was seven months pregnant and only just realized it! Can you even imagine? She had been attributing the fact that she hadn't had her period for seven damn months to—wait for it—stress!

Wait, are you guys maybe on some kind of extreme diet right now?
+stress

Go grab some chocolate, immediately. And I don't want to hear another word about dieting from any of you!!!! 🧐 🙂

That is just wild🤣 🤣

But, uh, didn't you hear that condoms aren't actually 100% foolproof? 😉

Seriously, I’m asking again: why doesn't a brain come standard with the equipment? 😕

and maybe it's just delayed because of global warming!!! 🤣

Nah... 🤣

There's no way I'm pregnant since we use condoms every single time, and as far as I know, they haven't failed us once. What else could it be? Maybe a cyst?😲

Same thing happened to me, first time ever.
Probably menopause, huh? 🙂

First off, I started my period this morning 😍 . This might sound a little mean, but I’ve honestly never been on a diet in my life—if anything, I’m always trying to gain weight and just can't seem to do it. I'm 5'6" and about 123 lbs, and I can definitely tell that putting on a few more pounds would look good on me. I've tried chocolate, pastries, eating later at night... nothing works. I eat pasta and all sorts of high-calorie stuff, but my weight stays exactly the same. Honestly, gaining weight feels way harder than losing it. All my friends who decided to slim down actually succeeded because they were incredibly persistent and disciplined. They really needed the diet because they had let themselves go and gained quite a bit. Now they're much happier with themselves and have such a positive vibe. It was really about their health...☕

Hey, darksurfer39, talk to me about this... I’m 5'6" and weigh exactly what you do. 🙂 Honestly, I eat pretty much anything—tons of fruit, cheese, pasta, bread... my goal is to hit 58 kilos, just enough to give my curves a bit more shape, because naturally, I'm built quite flat through the hips and glutes. That 58kg mark feels like my sweet spot, and let me tell you, putting on weight is an uphill battle... we just have those lightning-fast metabolisms, you know? 😉

Also, I'm glad to hear your period finally arrived. 🙂

Well, if only we all had lightning-fast metabolisms...
I am truly happy for you, though I do hope everything is alright regarding your health.

I actually suspected it might be a diet; I went through a similar situation myself when I was on a really strict regimen about a year ago...
