Elizabeth Howard45 said:Ever since I started birth control, my periods have been light and almost never painful. Honestly, nothing at all! Before I was on the pill, I used to feel that uncomfortable ache, but I never actually had to reach for a painkiller for my period in my entire life!🙂

I just take some Advil and call it a day. My uterus can be pretty brutal sometimes.😁
I call it "the shifting" when I'm in the gym. At first, it feels like my ovaries are trying to exit my body (metaphorically speaking), and then after a few days right before it ends, the pain hits again—maybe everything is just settling back into place? (again, metaphorically).😁 ...so, yeah, the shifting.

I'm ten days late! It’s never been this late before, and honestly, what's making it worse is that I don't even feel like my period is coming—usually, my PMS hits me like a freight train right before it starts, but this time, nothing.
There's no way I could be pregnant because we use condoms every single time, and as far as I know, they haven't failed us once. So, what else could it be? I'm starting to worry it might be some kind of cyst.😲

My cycle ended up being three and a half months late. I wasn't pregnant, my exam results came back clear, and all my bloodwork looked fine. Honestly, who knows what causes these things to shift sometimes...

Maybe one did break... or maybe you just caught a cold. I guess cycle shifts happen sometimes. As for whether it's a cyst... nobody here can really tell you that, right? Just wait a few more days, and if it still doesn't show up... go see a gynecologist. That’s probably the only right thing to do, just for your own sake.

Man, the stress is real.

A few years back, I actually went through two major life upheavals in just about a month and ten days.

Has anything big been shifting in your world lately? Like, are you diving into a new career, packing up for a move, dealing with relationship stuff, or maybe even facing some loss? Just curious what kind of heavy lifting your life is doing right now.

We can't be pregnant—we use condoms every single time, and as far as I know, none of them have broken. So what’s the deal? Could it just be some kind of infection?😲

Man... maybe it’s just stress—or maybe my hormones are acting up. You never really know.
My OB-GYN told me that anything within 45 days—counting from the start of your last period—is totally fine. Once you hit that 45-day mark? Time to make an appointment.

Maybe you should just take your damn hormone replacements and chill out—you’re constantly picking fights with everyone around you, acting like it's the sidewalk's fault if you trip. Between the hormones throwing you off balance and those damn hot flashes—if that's even what's happening—you're just gonna end up leaking through your clothes anyway.

And look, it could totally be an eating disorder too... starving yourself (aka that "diet" life) can definitely make your period vanish. I mean, think about the women in the military during the war—they didn't get their cycles back until they finally had access to actual, decent meals, right?

You've got a clear split between watery and thick discharge. The watery stuff clears out with every cycle (though you’d have to be constantly lagging behind for that to happen), while the thick stuff—well, you don't even have a cycle to begin with.

Look, if you think a late period means you're ovulating, you're mistaken. Ovulation happens when your cycles actually stay regular. We're talking about progesterone here—a hormone from the progesterone group, specifically a pregnadiene derivative.

The only downside? Everything and everyone is going to get under your skin. You'll be as high-strung as a guitar string... but after a few days... it all just leaks out.

Go see a gynecologist tomorrow.

Otherwise, just lie down, spread your legs, and shove a computer mouse up there so we can read the results ourselves...

My period was three and a half months late!!! My OB-GYN finally prescribed some Logest pills (just a 6-pack), which I basically inhaled in three days. My period showed up just a couple of days after that last pill... so now I'm on Yaz and I'm really hoping my cycle actually decides to behave itself again...

You're out of your mind. 😁

hiddenscout362, good luck. 🙂 Fingers crossed it's just stress or something.

Stress aside, how can you be 100% certain that a condom didn't break?

Honestly, I can never seem to get things on schedule... It’s either arriving two or three weeks late, or somehow showing up two or three weeks early. I truly haven't the slightest clue what's going on with the timing.😠

What goes through your head during sex? If things get particularly intense or kinky, it can actually delay your cycle. Give us the details.😕
