I am truly grateful to you all. I certainly did not anticipate receiving such prompt responses.

"St post" is actually just shorthand for "status post," which comes from Latin and basically means "the condition after" an event has occurred.

Hi there, I couldn't find a specific thread for this, so I figured I'd just post my questions here...
My mother had an accident at her workplace, which resulted in a broken hip, and she ended up having a replacement surgery. This all happened about four days ago.

Now I've realized that the deadline to file a workers' comp claim is eight days. Does that window include the weekend? Since you can't really file anything over the weekend, I'm wondering if we have until the end of the eighth day, or if it has to be done by then. I'm honestly a little worried we might miss the cutoff.

I suppose my mistake was probably not jumping on this immediately. I wasn't entirely sure how the whole process worked, and I think I mistakenly assumed the employer had already started the paperwork.

If I'm understanding the procedure correctly, the employer is the one who submits the initial report, fills out their portion, and then I take that to her primary care physician to complete the rest, before finally submitting everything to Medicare?

Hello,

I just placed my first order through this new e-ordering system—but honestly... I haven't been briefed on how any of this works. How am I supposed to know the appointment times? Where can I actually see them? My doctor sent me this note:

'Referrals for the clinic and the hospital have been sent. Blood work can be done every weekday from 7-9 AM at both the hospital and the clinic; no appointment is needed, and referrals are handled electronically.'

I followed up with her to ask exactly what I'm asking you all, but she didn't really give me a clear answer.

What exactly was ordered?
It only mentions blood work here.

So, I just sent an email to order my appointment at the hospital and mentioned that my referral was already sitting in the system. I also included my MBO details in the message, and honestly? I got a confirmed time slot without any of the usual hassle. For the actual lab work, I just showed up and that was it!

velvetbear372 said:Hey there,

I just tried using this new online scheduling system for the first time, but man... they didn't explain a single thing about how it actually works. Like, how am I supposed to know when my appointment is? Where do I even go to see the schedule? My doctor sent me this note:

'Referrals for the clinic and the hospital have been sent. Blood work can be done any weekday between 7-9 AM at the hospital or the clinic—no appointment needed, and referrals are handled electronically.'

So I asked her follow-up questions about the timing, but she didn't really give me a straight answer.

Don't sweat it—for blood work, you don't need an appointment. You just show up wherever you want to get tested, hand your insurance card to the person at the front desk, and you're good to go.

For everything else that actually requires booking (you know, the stuff you *do* need an appointment for), every hospital has its own little way of doing things. Some use email, some have you fill out a form, whatever. You basically just tell them your referral came from the local health center, give them your Medicare ID number, and they pull the digital referral right out of the system. Honestly, even the health center can just book it for you through the portal, so... yeah. There are ways to make it happen.

Hey everyone. Since I'm pretty much a newcomer when it comes to navigating the healthcare system here in Chicago, I was wondering if anyone could walk me through how the whole scheduling process actually works? I know the referral gets uploaded somewhere into the digital system, but what’s the deal with the waiting lists—how do they actually move along?
I ended up calling in to schedule a specialist appointment, and then my doctor's nurse issued the formal referral over the phone right after. Is there any way for me to actually check where I stand on the list or see how long the wait might be?

I don't quite follow.
When you placed your order over the phone, didn't they provide you with a specific date and time for the appointment?

I mean, when you booked that appointment over the phone, didn't they give you a specific date and time?

Well, yeah, they did, but I suppose if someone scheduled before me has to cancel or something, my slot might get bumped up earlier. Honestly, I'm just sitting here wondering if they'll reach out to let me know about a new time, or if I'm supposed to go hunting for it on their website—and frankly, navigating those portals is always such a headache for me.

I suppose you just stick to the scheduled appointment and leave it at that.

It doesn't work like that. Medicare isn't run that way. Your appointment stays exactly where it is.

Ah... well, that's unfortunate...
Thanks for the answer.

Hey everyone

I am totally lost in the maze of Medicare and the healthcare system here in Chicago..

I went ahead and paid for a private ultrasound.. they found a few things, and the recommendation was to see a specialist/urologist for more testing..

I need some help figuring out my next move. I called my doctor this morning and she opened up an electronic referral..

I've been Googling like crazy, but I just can't figure out how to electronically book an appointment with a urologist...

I couldn't even check the health portal to see if my referral is active or what the status is..

Can anyone give me some advice or help on what to do next?🙏>

Why don't you try opening Google, typing in "rebro ordering," and just clicking on the very first link that pops up?

Just a blank white screen, like the page crashed or something.

For me, the most straightforward thing to do is just open their website.

Greetings, I was wondering if all family practitioners are currently drowning in work to the point where they simply can't answer the phone? I am stuck in self-isolation, and I have attempted to call my doctor's office over 150 times, yet the nurse either fails to pick up or the line remains constantly busy...

Regarding the Ursofalk capsules... My doctor mentioned she can only provide a private prescription because Medicare doesn't cover them for my specific diagnosis (biliary gastritis). That means I’ll have to pay out of pocket, which will be roughly $67. I pointed out that the instructions clearly state they can be used for this condition, but she insisted she could face disciplinary action if she issued a standard prescription for it. The gastroenterologist wants me on them for two weeks, taking one capsule every night before bed. During my endoscopy, they found quite a bit of bile in my stomach along with a few pre-pyloric erosions.

Who is being unreasonable here?
