Bad circulation sucks for me too.

Whenever I’m consistent with my workouts, things improve, but the second I skip training for even a few days, I'm right back where I started.

My feet are always freezing; no matter what I do, I just can't get them warm enough.😬

Hey, stumbled upon this health thing by accident... have you guys seen this blog www.123.blog.hr
I was trying to quit smoking, and they linked me to this site... I think it was called NRG something? It had some info about staying healthy during winter and vitamins... anyway, check out the correct link on this little blog.

This winter is absolutely killing me. I spent my entire life living in a mild, sunny climate, and then suddenly, over the last few years, I’m stuck dealing with sub-zero temperatures.
The wind might howl in coastal towns, but out here, the cold just cuts right through you to the bone.😁

People claim it’s because I haven’t put on enough weight. Honestly, I’ve gained about fifteen pounds in the last year alone, so that shouldn't be the issue... yet it's still freezing. This winter is just miserable.

I’m dying to know... do you just walk up to people you meet in real life and call them "idiots" whenever they have a different opinion than yours? Because wow... ☕

s3v3n, honestly, does it even matter if it's summer or winter when your dad bought you a car with AC anyway?🙂

Sure, if you live in a place where the wind howls off the coast, you know what a breeze feels like, but here? It’s bone-chillingly cold.😁

Rodena and I grew up in the exact same city, and clearly, that shared history doesn't make the weather any easier to swallow. Personally, the summer heat is what does me in. 😁

Ugh, honestly, nothing gets under my skin more than those people who insist that winter is "good for you"—that it’s somehow the healthiest season of the year... what on earth are they thinking? For me, winter just means being stuck with a cold 24 hours a day; any bit of sunshine is a godsend because it might actually clear my sinuses—even if it's just by a tiny fraction.

Gloves don't do a damn thing to help... especially during these freezing mornings. If I happen to pull my hand (glove and all) out of my pocket just to grab a pastry at the bakery............. I'm done for—my hand freezes solid, and it stays that way for the foreseeable future. It's gross.👎

And I truly cannot wrap my head around those folks who go ice swimming in the dead of winter and claim it's healthy; I guess it works for them, but for me, that's just a guaranteed way to invite illness for the rest of my life. At the end of the day, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I prefer taking showers so hot that other people would get burns... but even then, it hardly helps.😁

I've got a pretty low threshold for losing my cool when it gets hot 😢

it rarely happens to me, though. say, when it hits 104 degrees outside 😁

boldeagle3 said:Is there any way to finally put an end to this? Honestly, year after year, it just gets harder and harder for me to deal with the winter season, the biting cold, and all that gloom. It’s becoming quite a struggle!
It’s the absolute truth!
If I had to guess, I’ve dealt with poor circulation my entire life!
If I had known how much I would end up hating being outdoors, I would have learned how to pass out back when I was a kid!
Playing in the snow was always just a distant dream for me. Honestly, I couldn't bring myself to do it because my fingers would end up aching terribly from the freezing cold!
I’d say those gloves would be about a 20% help to me!
I have to layer up in a mountain of clothes just to feel even remotely warm! It is absolutely freezing out there.
I swear, my head feels like it’s about to fall right off whenever the temperature drops! It is absolutely baffling to me—how do some people actually function without ever wearing a hat? I honestly don't understand how they do it. 😕 )
Well, perhaps my weight is a bit on the lower side right now—I think I'm sitting at about 105 pounds—but honestly, I’ve never actually been heavier than this! It's not like I've been dieting or trying to slim down... if anything, I've actually put on a little bit of weight lately!
If I were an asthmatic, and my mother had spent my entire childhood cranking the heat up to 95 or 100 degrees in my bedroom—thinking that keeping me sweltering would somehow prevent me from getting sick because I was "fragile"—I honestly don't know how I would have coped! It’s such a wild concept to think about. My goodness, the sheer discomfort! 🙄
It’s quite a predicament to find myself in—having absolutely nothing to do while being stuck in this sedentary role! Honestly, it feels like I'm just watching the clock tick away. It’s one thing to have a manageable workload, but sitting here with zero activity is a different story entirely. I occasionally find myself staring out the window at the skyline, wondering how I can make these hours feel productive when my desk is completely still. Such a strange sensation, really!
It’s just too much! Honestly, I can barely wrap my head around it. It's simply overwhelming!
What are your thoughts on this?

If it makes you feel any better—though it certainly doesn't make things easier for me—being about 20 pounds heavier than you doesn't actually make me any warmer! Honestly, every single winter, I end up looking like a total grizzly bear because of how much I have to layer up. I’m talking multiple pairs of socks, thick thermal leggings under everything, heavy sweaters—sometimes even two at once! I refuse to step foot outside without a hat, scarf, and gloves, otherwise, it's just not happening. Even then, my eyelashes freeze inside my hat, and my nose actually aches from the sheer cold. And don't even get me started on my feet; even with double socks and heavy-duty boots, my toes feel like they might actually fall off! To top it all off, I seem to catch about five different throat infections every winter, which means I can never go more than two weeks without feeling under the weather. The absolute worst part is that once the sore throat clears, a nasty cold always follows right on its heels. It feels like every bit of fluid in my body just drains out through my nose, and then, predictably, the coughing starts. 😠 It’s just inevitable at this point! Even though I make it a strict rule never to touch anything colder than 60 degrees—I can't stand that icy feeling hitting my mouth—it still happens. To stay ahead of it, I’ve been loading up on plenty of honey and lemon as a little preventative measure.
I truly hope this brings you even a little bit of comfort.
I understand that you can't simply quit your job—most people are stuck behind a desk all day just like you are. That is exactly why you absolutely must sign up for a gymnastics class or force yourself to exercise at home. Just remember how much you were complaining about your back! No one else is going to fix that for you, for goodness' sake. You're still young, and you only get one body; why on earth would you treat it so poorly? It isn't true that you can't find at least an hour and a half twice a week to work out. Personally, I don't feel quite like myself until I start exercising regularly. Once it becomes a habit, exercise is truly wonderful. You stay in shape, which is perfect; you feel better and you can handle so much more. Aerobics is such a fantastic option. Please, just give it a try! I know you tend to tire yourself out easily, so why not pick up yoga again now that you have the opportunity? Don't let yourself hit 40 without doing this, or your body will start seriously collecting on those debts you owe it. I actually have some great home workouts from Jillian Michaels that I pulled from my Kindle library. They mostly target the core, back, and glutes. They aren't difficult at all—just a few minutes per exercise—and you don't even have to do them every single day. Besides that, there is a wealth of literature available at any local library; you just have to decide what you want to focus on. Remember how we used to warm up during PE class in school? That was truly so good for the system. It doesn't overexert you, which is ideal for you, but it stretches and warms up the muscles exactly as needed. You’re essentially killing two birds with one stone by improving both your mobility and your circulation, which means you'll actually feel warmer! If you need a push, I will be the one to motivate you. You can come over to my place and I'll lead the workout; my room is a bit cramped, but we will make it work somehow. The most important thing is having the willpower! Or, perhaps, persuade someone to join you for whatever activity you choose. Currently, I'm a bit short on cash, so that's a factor. Most importantly, please learn how to eat properly. You can afford to prioritize your nutrition now. No more pizza or junk food. In the morning, you absolutely must drink something warm. Without exception—cocoa or milk would be best. Warm yourself up before heading outside. Put your shoes on early so your feet stay warm while you're still indoors, and only then head out. If you feel a chill the moment you step out, go back inside and add another layer. And please, don't stand still in one spot for too long. Keep moving; just keep moving!
Once the first snow finally hits, you absolutely have to go out and have a little snowball fight. Go ahead and wake up that inner child! Honestly, I’ve got some heavy-duty ski gloves at my place that are completely waterproof—I’ll lend them to you so you can throw snowballs to your heart's content. Believe me, you haven't truly experienced winter until you've actually played in it; otherwise, it’s just a season of being freezing cold. Just be careful not to aim for anyone's neck or head; we don't want any accidents! And make sure you demand that same level of care from him or them, too. Have fun! You'll completely forget about the bitter cold, the numb hands, the poor circulation, and how much you usually dread the winter months. Just let yourself be talked into it—don't just say "no" right away.
After you finish reading this, you need to actually accomplish something. Don't just skim through it; if you have to, print it out and stare at it every single morning. You need to hit at least one major milestone before spring rolls around.

Best regards, take care!

Maria Kelly6... printingggggg 😁😁😁

Can you give me your take on these ski gloves—assuming we actually get any snow this season 😁?
As for the rest of it... goodness, I didn't realize you were quite so sensitive. Personally, I’m dealing with a constant head cold, but I can count my actual sore throats on one hand—literally, in my entire life—but then again, I have that other thing... 🙄

Post-New Year's plan: EXERCISE :jendvatri: 😁

Are you going to lend me those ski gloves of yours? (Assuming we actually get some snow 😁 )
As for everything else... goodness, I had no idea you were such a sensitive soul! Honestly, I’m constantly dealing with a sniffle, but when it comes to actual sore throats, I can count them on one hand in my entire life—but hey, I guess I just have a different constitution... 🙄

Post-New Year goals: EXERCISE! :jendvatri: 😁

Oh, please, you don't know what you're talking about! And like I said, I saw you the other day—you're way more disorganized than I am, so of course you're freezing in just a single fleece jacket! Even I get chilly in my grandma's heavy knit sweater! Seriously, even today with it being 40 degrees out, I'm bundled up in a scarf, a hat, gloves, and double socks. You have to be careful! Okay, once the New Year hits, we'll start working out and keep each other in check!

One day after hitting the pool, I just stood under the hot shower until every last drop of warm water was gone. It probably went on for over half an hour.

I warmed myself right down to the bone, and honestly, that heat lasted for at least three days.

It felt like a total rebirth.

Now? I don't even bother trying to finish my showers with cold water. Not a chance. In fact, I crank the temperature up at the end, trying to replicate that poolside move. The only reason I can't quite pull off the same magic trick is because I feel too guilty about wasting all that water just to keep my backside warm.

As for socks, if they aren't at least ankle-length, I’m not wearing them. I found these thick, gorgeous ones, grabbed four pairs, and now they're basically my entire wardrobe.

A scarf is non-negotiable, plus a faux-fur coat—it actually holds heat—and I always keep gloves in my bag just in case. I skip the hat because I hate how it messes with my peripheral vision when I'm out on my bike, but I'm hunting for the perfect model, and I'm already looking forward to finding it.

Man, honestly, I’d probably be feeling pretty under the weather right now if we didn't have winter to deal with. I actually find myself missing this cold stretch of the year every once in a while 🙂

Honestly, I’d do that every single day if I actually had central heating at home... my water heater barely gives me five minutes before it goes cold. 👎 👎 👎

Solid thread! 😁

When I say "solid," I don't mean perfect, but there are definitely some gems in here 👍

Now, I’ll admit I’m one of those people who catches every cold under the sun, but unlike some of the more "polarized" folks on this board—you know, the ones who either absolutely loathe winter or swear by the summer heat—I can't stand either extreme 😬

When true winter hits, I’m perpetually shivering and feeling under the weather, yet once summer rolls around, I feel like I’m constantly trying to shed layers just to stay sane (thankfully, my current job doesn't require me to wear a full suit 😲 because if it did, I probably would have quit by the first heatwave; it would be an absolute nightmare... 😲 ))

My sweet spots are spring and autumn, though lately, with global warming making things so unpredictable, it feels like we aren't even getting real seasons anymore

Fortunately, our winters haven't been quite as brutal or prolonged (at least until that first apocalyptic Yellowstone volcanic eruption 😬), though summers are increasingly becoming far too sweltering and humid

There is plenty of useful advice here... some of it is already part of my routine, and some will certainly come in handy
A couple of weeks ago, I finally invested in a heavy-duty winter jacket, and for the first time in a while, I actually feel warm when I'm out. Long socks are a non-negotiable for me, along with a scarf and gloves, though I generally avoid hats unless the temperature truly drops
If we manage to get the central heating sorted at home this year, life should be pretty comfortable... 🙂

A Spa City, a spa city... sounds all well and good, but you can't exactly pack up the whole resort and haul it out onto the highway 😬

just bring the highway into the spa.😁 heheheh imagine a massive TV screen in a bathroom that's practically a ballroom, say 10 by 10 feet.😁 then you could really get a clear view of how ugly everything looks.😁

How did I miss the point of this thread before? 🙂

It’s a lot easier to bundle up in full "tactical gear" now that I realize everyone else is also just pretending they aren't wearing double socks under their boots.

Seriously—I see all these women out there in those cropped puffer jackets, no joke 😁, beanies, gloves—and honestly, mad respect! I can barely survive the weather as it is.
This year, I finally invested in some Gore-Tex boots—waterproof, obviously—so at least my feet stay dry, and today's slush in Chicago isn't soaking through my socks. ☕

Speaking of socks—my boyfriend actually got me five or six pairs of heavy wool Pendleton socks this year; I wear them over my regular ones whenever I'm just lounging around the house.

But I have to ask—is anyone else's skin just absolutely cracking from this cold? I’m being aggressive with the hand cream and ChapStick, which helps a little, but the cuticles... oh god, the cuticles! 😠 😠

It is an unsolvable crisis!
Help!

I'm off to go soak my hands in hot water now.
🙂

Robin Collins5 said:Basically, I see these crowds of girls out there in tiny crop tops—no scarves 😁, no hats, no gloves—and honestly, good for them! I can barely survive the weather as it is.

Anyway, I wanted to ask you all... does anyone else deal with their skin cracking from the cold? I’m constantly slathering my hands in lotion (and using lip balm, obviously), which helps mitigate things slightly, but then there's the issue of the cuticles!!!!! 😠 😠

A total nightmare!
help me out here...

Regarding that first point, I have never quite understood it... my sister heads out at night wearing nothing but shoes and fishnets (just fishnets, mind you—her legs are basically bare. And when she goes to her university classes during the day, she wears the exact same thing... just maybe some sheer tights... I mean, how, how, how... 😕

As for the second issue, I don't really have any problems; my skin stays as soft as a baby's... 😳 😁

I've been dealing with this constant coughing and congestion for the last two weeks—just hacking up phlegm from deep in my lungs constantly. To make matters worse, my hearing has taken a hit over the past few days; it feels like I’ve got water stuck in my ears. Some days it's just one side, but today both feel completely muffled. What should I do? I haven't bothered heading to the doctor yet since I don't have a fever, and honestly, with flu season hitting everyone right now, the wait times at the clinic are ridiculous—I'd probably just end up catching whatever the flu is currently circulating in the waiting room anyway.🙄
