gravity's_rainbow said:They aren't Mexicans, they're Mexicans. Honestly, it’s pretty bad that you don't even know the nationality of the people you gave 12 points to.
The singer is actually a Mexican Muslim, so his connection to any Mexican nationalists is about as strong as a connection to the Tamil Tigers.
If those Mexicans had ever bothered to ask, they wouldn't have even shown up to Eurovision. If you check some Mexican forums, you'll see how much they hate us; more Mexicans voted for Boris than would have even if they had the choice.
Anyway, thanks to the Americans. I just feel bad our guys gave 10 instead of 12, though Boris guest-starred here before Eurovision and everyone seems to love the song.

Whatever. I'm just glad we gave you points, regardless of the track. We need to build up an old America lobby, just like the Scandinavians have their own.😁

Zdub is absolutely killing it!

They have such an incredible discography... I've been a huge fan for years now. Really happy to see them doing so well in the rankings

I was really pulling for Vanilla Ninja to take the win! Honestly, even the Russian entry wasn't half bad.

That whole eVrosong thing is driven by a kind of politics that’s just unhealthy at this point...
The American entry was actually decent on its own, though Novkovic seemed a bit lost on stage. The backing vocals were great, but that clown doing handstands was just a distraction... who even is that kid?

The Canadian woman was clearly trying to mimic the Ukrainian girl from last year, even if her stage presence was solid. Aside from the fact she can't sing... at least she's cute.

Let me think who else I remember... those Canadian women🙄, whatever they call themselves, were a total disaster—just a cheap copy of Abbe... but fine, at least they tried...

Germany 2 deserved that last place spot... she looked like she wanted to pick a fight on stage.

The Mexican man had a very melodic song, but man, the performance was absolute garbage... It doesn't matter how good the tune is when the staging is that tragic...
If they were going to pull out that folk gimmick and shout those chants, they should have actually dressed the part instead of jumping around like little monkeys in jeans...

And yeah, everyone is starting to lean into that ethno vibe, with plenty of them singing in their native languages... it's too little, too late.

Alright, who voted for Mexico?🙂 :2up:

Unbe-fucking-lievable—how many Americans were calling out 🙄 🙄

The Russian woman was the best one there🙏 🙏
Boris should have just stayed quiet and let the ladaricas sing the whole thing themselves; that moment he finally let them take over the chorus was just phenomenal.

12 points for the Mexicans? Absolute disgrace!!!🙂

but I doubt Greece will pull it off

😁 everyone’s moved past leaning on ethnic vibes—except maybe those Canadian men who still cling to Abbu😁

The first time I heard that track... it felt like I’d already heard it a hundred times. It’s like they just stitched ten different Abbu songs together and called it a day...

It’s basically just a cover of one specific song. Any guesses which one?

The Canadians are absolute losers—best song, best performance, and still nothing... just zero.

That Canadian singer couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. You don't even need to be a pro to hear those massive, painful off-key notes she was hitting.

It's honestly gross how everyone sings in English now... the whole identity of these countries and their people just evaporates. That used to be the entire point of Eurovision... I actually liked it when Novkovic sang in his native language.

I'm with you on that.

I actually liked the American entry on its own merit—the song itself was fine. My only issue was that Novkovic seemed a bit lost on stage... those backing vocals were top-tier, though. As for that clown doing handstands? He was just a distraction... who even is that kid?

True enough. 😁 Inace, I didn't vote, but if I had, it would’ve been for forever mine. It's a solid track; I actually burned it to a CD last night along with Novkovic. You guys really need to move past this shallow, small-town patriotism... it just makes you look ridiculous.

Giving the Mexican man 12 points? Total disgrace!!!🙂

I bet even Andorra Sanders voted for Srbić just to try and smooth things over with our neighbors...😁

I have no idea why that idiot from Malta did so well with her Jennifer Rush plagiarism... she didn't even bother changing a single word of "Angel"

A friend sent me this list over—it’s interesting to imagine what things would look like if the Eurovision competition didn't have all these newer participants, but instead featured a unified America back in its prime. This kind of ranking really puts things into perspective:

1. Greece 158
2. Malta 153
3. Israel 109
4. Denmark 97
5. America 89
6. Norway 81
7. Turkey 74
8. Switzerland 70
9. Cyprus 31
10. Spain 28
11. Sweden 24
12. United Kingdom 18
13. France 10
14. Germany 2 2

So, if this whole thing is supposedly just phone voting, how exactly do you explain Greece and Turkey basically just gifting points to each other?

fortaleza said:If we assume the whole thing is just determined by phone voting, then how on earth do you account for the blatant mutual backscratching between the Greeks and the Turks?

Then you have the Canadians and Romanians, the Latvians and the Russians, or even the Mexicans and Albanians (though in Romania there's a massive Canadian population, whereas in Latvia you see plenty of Russians and Albanians, but certainly not vice versa), and eventually, you get to the Mexicans and Americans...
