He clearly hasn't dealt with actual heroin before. 😬That’s exactly why he’s talking out of his ass.

Why not just save those kinds of takes for the Politics section? ☕

Girl... I think I'll take your advice. I'll definitely keep those types of remarks strictly for Politics.
My mistake... 🙂

I suppose I can tell you how to distinguish cocaine from heroin just by the taste... though I'd highly advise against trying that at home, obviously. Heroin has this sharp, bitter bite to it, whereas coke is... well, different. It’s actually kind of tragic, really. A friend of mine—who, by the way, is currently a junior in high school—told me he started out just messing around with joints, but over the last three months, he’s spiraled straight into coke. It’s just... it's a mess. You should see the look in his eyes lately; it’s haunting, I guess.👍

"started with a joint and ended up on coke"🙄

Look, from that very first hit, your cells basically grow these opioid receptors that just start screaming for more

So you think you're just chilling with some weed one day, and before you know it, you're reaching for the cocaine or heroin just to feel normal🙄

The truth is, those receptors are already there—it’s not even about the specific high. The only reason people say you "slide from weed to coke" is because they’re all lumped together under the "illegal drugs" umbrella. It's not some mystical chemical progression; it's just because we decided to make them all outlaws in the eyes of the law

I swear, I will never wrap my head around why smoking Marlboros or grabbing a beer is totally fine, but lighting up a joint is treated like it's a direct ticket to an overdose on crack

So, let me try to break this down for you, even though I’ve always been pretty terrible at explaining stuff

Basically, you’ve got two different worlds when it comes to psychoactive substances
The legal ones—think things like tobacco, alcohol... or even prescription meds if you're using them exactly how they're supposed to be used
And then there's the illegal stuff (marijuana, coke, heroin, LSD, etc.)

See, once you start messing with the illegal side of things, you've basically crossed over to the other side of the law. You start hanging out with people who are also smoking weed, and then eventually, you might feel like trying something new, and boom... there you go

It’s really just about the vibe; when you're drinking, you're still "on this side" of society, and you aren't lumped in with the "junkies"
But once you move into marijuana territory, you’ve stepped onto "that side," and I guess that's where you end up staying

I mean, there are all sorts of psychological processes and reasons behind it and everything else too
There are entire books written about this stuff, and honestly, I don't think I could ever tackle the whole thing in just one post

Plus, if you're the type of person who naturally leans toward using substances—whether it's booze or actual drugs—just to feel better or calm your nerves, then frankly, it doesn't matter if you start with weed or a beer. There's a huge chance you'll both end up in the exact same place

Give me a break; even my grandma could tell the difference between h and coke.😬

And going from weed to coke in three months? Sounds like a pretty efficient progression, I guess. 🤣

"Started out with a little weed and ended up on lines of coke."🙄

People can keep rolling their eyes if they want, I suppose, but for me, this is just the reality—this sad, messy reality... 😢

and honestly, going from a joint to cocaine in just three months sounds like quite the rapid progression.

Well, that goes for you too, I guess... because what do you actually know about this kid? You don't really know him, do you? You don't see him every single day, and you certainly haven't witnessed all his "brilliant" little exploits firsthand, right? I highly doubt it.

rustymoose54 said:I’ll never get why everyone thinks smoking cigarettes or grabbing a drink is totally fine, yet they act like using a joint is this direct gateway to hard drugs like cocaine or meth.

Exactly my thoughts. ☕

+ Clearly there's something wrong with me, because despite having tried weed before, I haven't exactly ended up on a mountain of cocaine. 😂 🤣

Look, I never actually said that smoking a joint always leads straight down a rabbit hole toward cocaine or horse or whatever other nonsense people get into. I was merely pointing out a rather well-known example from my own life experiences.🙄

Listen, some story you heard through the grapevine isn't an example from your actual life. Don't overstate it.

whatever, he's just some kid from a local high school.
his coke money's gonna dry up fast😁 and then it's over.
like he's the only one who's ever screwed around like this.

Honestly, I think you might want to give my previous post another read. She saw it with her own eyes—like, she could practically smell the situation—yet somehow she's sitting there trying to lecture me on the nuances of flavor profiles. It's quite something, I suppose. 🙄

Oh, please, we're talking about a high school junior here.
The money he blew on those fancy drinks will be gone before the semester ends.
It's not like he's the only kid who's ever messed up this badly.

Hmm.

I smoke weed pretty regularly, and I might indulge in some cocaine every few months or so.

The logic is simple: there's a massive difference between experimenting with hard drugs and actually being a user.

The reality is, if you only touch the heavy stuff two or four times a year—and you actually keep it to just those few occasions—you aren't going to end up in a ditch.

A smart person will dabble occasionally with lighter substances without facing any real consequences. Most side effects only really kick in when you're deep into long-term use, or addiction...

But the real issue is the idiots out there who can't find a limit. They have no self-control in any part of their lives, so why would they start now?

As for coke, it’s incredible for about 95% of people. If you try it, there's a very high chance you'll want it again.
Because the rush is unbelievable. It just is. That's the truth.
Some people might be able to resist that feeling once they've felt it, but most can't.

The biggest problem with drugs is... the harder they hit, the better the high, and the more fragile your psyche becomes.

Because that rush is insane, damn it—it’s just the truth.
Some people might be able to resist that feeling, but most? Not a chance.

Exactly. And honestly, that’s the whole reason I don't want to touch the stuff. I'm pretty sure I'd get hooked.

I'm with you on everything else you said, though.
You gotta practice moderation and actually know how to pull yourself back.👍
