I honestly don't get it. What was she supposed to do to make the "performance" satisfy you? Stand on her head while singing or wave her arms around like a Seagull?

She really should have just read the lyrics first. Then actually understand them. After that, sing them. Start by doing it silently in your head. Once that's done, give it a vocal run. Or maybe just lie on a beach and click like a Seagull. Laugh hysterically at your own clicking. And then do the whole thing over again. Repeat that several times. Wait about five years. In the meantime, just belt out "Let's go crazy tonight...". Avoid those annoying vocal mannerisms. Just be smart about it. Don't use your skull as a resonance chamber. Some people are born with a gift for singing, while others are born with a French key. It’s almost nothing—just pure predisposition.

She could probably skip all that if she were an actual talented singer, rather than someone who just happens to have decent vocal range.

Is anyone else finding this forum incredibly slow today?

Yeah, it's sluggish... 🙄 It's honestly infuriating. My connection just reported it throttled down to 24 kbps instead of the 64 kbps I actually have it set to. 👎 As long as those guys over at AT&T make sure they charge us full price for it, right?

Well, aren't you making things complicated! I'd bet anything you could sing that much better than anyone else here!

Well!
We’ve officially crossed into personal territory here.
Honestly, I couldn't sing it any better myself (though I suspect mistypanther could).
I don't have the voice, I certainly don't have the pitch, and as for the motivation required for something like that...
well, I don't have any of that, though I suppose I do have the facial expressions down.
But—that isn't quite enough to get by.
🙂

Fine, then at least name one American female vocalist currently out there who you think actually sounds better than Natalie Portman.

I'm not sure if mistypanther even sings.😁

Oh, he absolutely sings.
Sure, he won't sound like Natalie Portman after crushing three packs of cigarettes,
but even after four packs, he’s still better than Rafe.😁

Honestly, I sing better than Rafe, and I can jump further and higher, too. 😁

It’s not even a song about a guy, it’s about a Seagull. A bird that just drops stuff from the sky. There's nothing deep or Taoist about it—though, hey, everything is Tao if you look hard enough.
"Seagull" is just one of those festival anthems that somehow turned into something way bigger. We shouldn't be getting all dogmatic about it now. It's not like Oliver Hudson was clicking on beaches—he was probably just clicking his glass against the table in some local pub.
And honestly, Runjić wasn't clicking either. Nobody was clicking. People only clicked when Joseph Stalin came to visit Miami. Back then, everyone was clicking. And look at them now, calling Račan a communist... please, give me a break, as if they're any different. Did I totally derail this thread? Yeah, but I did it with style. 😁 😁

Man, Tajči...

Look, I’m actually trying to have a serious conversation here 😁

Honestly, I’m pretty sure Nives Celzijus could have delivered a much better vocal performance. And don't even get me started on how "brilliant" she is in her private messages! 🙂

Someone brought up Dylan, so I’ll just jump in and say it: he has the most beautiful voice on the planet. 😁 😍

I didn't catch the performance, but from what I've heard of Natalia, her vocals are stunning—period. Honestly, looking for some massive, soul-stirring moment at a random little talent show? Please...

Hebes will leave me completely bewildered if that video of hers doesn't air on NBC one more time. Just for the soul. You've missed out big time if you haven't heard that!

Keith James812 said:that Tajči...

😁

and I'm actually trying to have a serious discussion here 😁

The point was Tajči was singing songs that actually fit her age—and honestly, she nailed them. She’s got the voice and the ear for it. She could've been a massive star in this country if she’d wanted to, but she just didn't. And let's be real, she was never trying to act like Natalie Portman, even though she didn't exactly hit the big leagues through those American Idol style auditions.
So, calling Tajči an "unserious" singer just because Natalie Portman is considered "serious"? That’s just plain stupid.
Like I mentioned before—and Jason Morgan2 put it way better—Natalie Portman is basically a resonance chamber. Just empty space. A great echo, though!
I'm not saying she won't succeed. But sorry, but a woman who only knows how to love herself? It's hard for her to sing a love song, no matter how good her voice is. That's really what we're talking about here—not vocal training, but actual emotion. A song is just a bridge for the artist's feelings to go from their soul, through the singer, and into the listener's ears. Someone can nail every single note technically, sure, but they can still sound totally soulless or just get the vibe completely wrong.
For instance, I don't doubt Natalie Portman would "perfectly" sing something like a Zvonko Bogdan ballad, but I also wouldn't want to hear it—I'd probably just laugh. Unlike Bogdan, who performs a song and leaves the listener feeling absolutely wrecked by the end.
It's about the emotion, not the technique. Kind of like sex, too—it doesn't matter how many tools or skills you have if the woman isn't into you, right? It's just not gonna happen.

Nope. She just won't care whether you're enjoying yourself or not. 😁

Look, Koka, I don't mean to sound cocky or anything—but just stick to the music. And honestly, if everyone else can't wrap their heads around what the songwriter actually meant, maybe they should just skip over the sex references entirely.

Sure, even the people who called her out for an encore realized she didn't nail the performance, right? It was clearly just a group of amateurs over there. I honestly don't know what you're all talking about. Let’s get real for a second. The song itself was performed perfectly fine; whether Natalie Portman is a genius or not isn't really the point here. You can't compare Tajči to Natalie Portman under any circumstances—Tajči relied on stage presence and gimmicks, and her vocals were mediocre at best, if not outright subpar. It's like trying to compare Bono to Daniel.

manager said:I mean, yeah—those people calling her out for an encore realized she missed the mark too, right? Everyone there was just clueless about what they were listening to. I don't even know what you guys are talking about. Get real. The song was performed well, regardless of whether Natalie has any brains or not—that’s beside the point. You can't even compare Tajac and Natalie; Tajac relied on her looks while her voice was... well, let's just say it was subpar at best. It's like comparing Bono and Daniel.

So you think Natalie's got more going on upstairs than just her looks? Maybe grab some better glasses, man. 🙂
And since we're bringing up Bono and Daniel—technically, Daniel has a better range, and he actually understood the soul behind the lyrics about Julia. That song is still a staple for us younger crowds and has been covered by tons of punk bands, which just proves how universal it is. Honestly, your comparison totally missed the mark. Bono is great specifically because he knows how to channel raw emotion through his music.
And apparently, wearing perfect makeup is what gets you an encore now? That's a pretty wild argument. They should've just put some seagulls in the crowd and seen who actually calls for an encore then.
