Recommendations: Wolf Brotherhood

I suppose this movie isn't exactly terrifying in the traditional sense, though I would probably categorize it as a milder sort of horror. The narrative is actually quite beautifully told, and the cast is truly wonderful. I would certainly suggest giving it a watch if you have the time........

But somehow, I’m actually digging it. I just have a huge soft spot for wolves and redheads 😁

I suppose I’ve never been particularly fond of those werewolf movies and all that nonsense, but I have to admit this particular film is quite exceptionally good. If I had to choose my absolute favorites, I think I would go with Dracula or maybe even Jason Bourne versus Freddy...

How on earth can you call this movie trashy?
For me, it was damn good; I’ve watched it two or three times now and it hits just as hard every single time. It’s easily one of the better recent American productions—solid effects, great acting, and a actually decent story.

What exactly are we looking at with that wolf? Is it some kind of legendary creature from folklore, or perhaps some sort of mutated beast?
I also can't help but wonder about Jean-Francois—was his hand ravaged by some mysterious illness, or was it more like a sorcerer casting some dark curse upon him?

Pure gold! Just by virtue of the fact that this isn't some cookie-cutter Hollywood-made crap, it’s already an instant winner in my book! 😉 Honestly, the plot is just incredibly cool. And Cassell? Absolutely legendary! The atmosphere—especially those outdoor shots—is nothing short of perfection. I also thought the way they handled the combat sequences using stop-motion was such a clever, brilliant touch. Truly a fantastic film!

Not really related to this movie, but has anyone seen that French flick, Grimace River or whatever it was called?
I’ve been passing by it at the local Blockbuster forever, but I can never bring myself to rent it. 🙂

Honestly, the film is pure genius from start to finish! My only gripe—and I say this with all due respect to the director—is that the ending feels a little rushed, like they just handed the answers to the audience on a silver platter without letting us breathe. But aside from that minor hiccup, it’s a fantastic piece of cinema! 😉

When I first watched Wolfish Brotherhood, I practically spat at the screen.
So, I owe everyone an apology; I completely missed the whole complex web involving those three guys, the three ladies, and the narrator.
Those six characters were actually brilliantly developed. I didn't grasp the entire mystery surrounding the ash, nor did I catch the details about the device used on the red-eyed ones.
Neither did I realize Kuvra was a secret Vatican agent, or all that symbolism regarding how certain villains meet their end due to their own petty fears...
The beast being struck down by a hunter's bullet.
A fine struggle, the photography...
It was worth the watch.

It’s definitely worth a watch. It’s been a minute since I sat down to watch Wolfish Brotherhood and Grimace River, but if I remember correctly, Grimace River actually takes the win for me. Especially that first half.

This movie is absolute perfection. The fight scenes were incredible—and honestly, I’m usually totally turned off by action choreography in most flicks (think Jackie or Van Damme and that whole crowd). But here? The story is top-tier and keeps the momentum going perfectly. It actually keeps you guessing, unlike those predictable, cookie-cutter American blockbusters. 😁

Plus, it’s just nice to have a break from the usual Hollywood nonsense. 👍

Well, hey, that's their opinion, and I guess I'm right along with them, though I wouldn't go so far as to say it's total trash... but, you know.

The movie is a little cheesy (which, full disclosure, I actually love!) and doesn't have much deep substance. But the worst part—don't get me wrong here—is that it isn't just some mindless American junk; it's got that slightly "European" vibe to it.

Anyway, it's definitely worth a watch.👍

The cinematography and costume design are breathtaking... plus, those fight scenes are incredible...

but honestly, that touch of kitsch is what gives the movie its mystical vibe; if it weren't quite so over-the-top, it probably wouldn't have worked nearly as well as it did.

I can't quite shake the feeling... I was genuinely captivated at first, especially since it's in French, which has always been such a lovely language to me, and the pacing felt solid through those first five parts... but by the end, I think I started to lose my footing a bit. It felt somewhat tacky toward the finish. 😢 I suppose I wonder if a second viewing might actually land better for me? Though, I suspect I might struggle to find the motivation to sit through it again.

That specific brand of kitsch actually lends the movie a certain mystical quality; if it weren't quite so tacky, I don't think it would be nearly as good a film.
