Hi everyone,

My primary care physician just retired. A new doctor has taken her place, and we patients have been given the choice to either stay with the newcomer or select a different provider.

My situation is a bit specific because I struggle with an eating disorder, and I really need support from a modern physician who actually understands this. I’m mentioning this because, unfortunately, I’ve had bad experiences with doctors who dismiss eating disorders as "no big deal," "spoiled behavior," or offer useless advice like "just eat and you'll be fine..." or "just pray to God before you eat..." and other similar platitudes.

I wanted to ask you all for recommendations for good doctors. My neighborhood is near Central Park and the Middle area, so it would be great if they aren't too far away. What I'm looking for is a doctor where you don't have to wait an eternity (especially if you call ahead) and someone who isn't difficult about medical leave.

Thanks so much!

Hum

Alright, so here’s the deal. I usually go to Mayo Clinic for my treatments, but I’m really looking to switch things up and find somewhere new. Does anyone happen to know a great endocrinologist? I'd actually prefer a female doctor if possible. I've been dealing with some hormone issues, PCOS, and weight struggles lately... thanks!

Honestly, you'd be lucky if you could even get an appointment with Dr. Koršić at Mayo—but he's heading toward retirement pretty soon.

Thanks,,, and since my records are currently over at Vuk Vrhovac, I'd probably just transfer those files over too...

Hi, I'm looking for private dentists in Chicago who accept Social Security Administration coverage,
meaning I won't have to pay out of pocket, and they can issue my referrals...

I heard there's a good one over on Branimirov?

If anyone knows, please let me know.😉

Honestly, there's hardly anything you won't have to pay out of pocket for lately, since the coverage provided by the Social Security Administration keeps shrinking every single day. You're better off just heading to a private clinic where you won't be stuck waiting forever and it won't break the bank either.

Wait, what do you need a referral for? Also, I'm guessing you're between 18 and 65. If so, the Social Security Administration probably won't cover much of anything for you.

We just got a new dentist that nobody likes, myself included, so I want to switch.

Can I go to the hospital for wisdom tooth surgery without a referral?...🙄

And the Social Security Administration won't cover that either? You've gotta be kidding me.

I'm not just asking for the sake of it...

I guess you can go to the hospital for wisdom tooth surgery without a referral, right?🙄

Wait, you mean Social Security Administration doesn't cover that? Come on, seriously?

I'm not just asking for the sake of asking...

I'm looking for a car... any guesses which one???🙄

Ask Pokriva; maybe she can get you a referral.

Zlatko Kovačević-Čabrijan over at the Belvedere...

She finally sorted out an issue that nobody in either Chicago or RI could touch for two whole years... not in the big hospitals or even the private clinics...

I get that they all went to the same schools and studied the same stuff, but clearly, not everyone is born with that same kind of instinct...

But hey, you try...

I actually went to see Cabrijan once too, and honestly—the issue hasn't gone away... I really wanted to book another appointment with her, but she's completely booked up for at least six months😢

And then I just don't know...🤷

Just order it and wait... what's the damage anyway? It’s not like the problem is just going to fix itself overnight.

She ended up helping both my mom and my coworker from the office... and honestly, they both spent half their lives bouncing between doctors all over the country just to get anything sorted out.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely look into it... it's just that things are a bit urgent on my end—the issue keeps popping up and disappearing, so I really need to head in right when it's actually happening, otherwise there's no point in even having an appointment 😉

Gotta give someone some credit. I used to be pretty terrified of the dentist, but I think I'm good now. 🙂
I had a tooth fixed using a Waterlase laser. It didn't hurt at all, and they don't have to grind down nearly as much of the tooth compared to using a regular drill. 😛 The cost was $100. Might seem steep to some people, but you don't deal with the trauma or lose half your tooth. The laser basically numbs the tooth, so it’s totally painless. I was honestly shaking because of bad experiences in the past, but it was fine. Not sure how things work with ozone, but I didn't need any extra procedures like someone else mentioned needing for ozone. They really should've invented this laser twenty years ago. 😁
They also replaced a filling on another tooth, and since most of it was already worn down from before, the doctor took an impression and put in a composite filling. It turned out great and cost $133. They did have to remove the old filling with a drill since you can't really do that with the laser—or it would take forever—but it wasn't painful.
The doctor is actually awesome. He's about 30 and definitely not a butcher like my previous dentists. He’s always checking in to see if anything hurts, so I guess after a few sessions, I finally got over those childhood fears. 👍
Anyway, that's the gist of it.
p.s. The doctor only works privately, so maybe book a consultation first to see what you need done before committing to a full appointment.
Dr. Azinović is located at Mechanical 4, azinovic (dot) com

Hey, I'm looking for a dentist recommendation in Chicago—somewhere downtown or close to the center so it isn't a massive trek for me. Also, has anyone actually dealt with ultrasonic scaling or ozone therapy? If you have, where did you go and what's the damage going to be like?
thanks

tnx

So, Azinović is over at Mechanical 4, which is pretty central. He can do ultrasonic scaling or sandblasting—it’s similar and hurts less, though I didn't really feel anything with the ultrasound either. Honestly, the laser is better than ozone; it’s painless and actually works (I heard some people say ozone didn't do much for them). I think ultrasound is around $67 but you could probably call to check. And like I mentioned, the laser filling was about $100. Also, you can barely even tell my tooth was fixed because the laser doesn't grind down the tooth like a drill does. 👍

mistyranger11 said:Look, Azinović is over at Mechanical 4, right in the heart of the city. He can handle tartar removal with ultrasound or sandblasting—it’s basically the same thing, just way less painful. Honestly, even the ultrasound didn't hurt me. As for the laser, it beats ozone any day; it's painless and actually works (some people claimed the ozone did nothing for them). I think ultrasound is around $67, but you should probably call and double-check. And like I mentioned, a laser repair is $100. One more thing: you can barely even tell my tooth was fixed because the laser doesn't grind down the enamel like a traditional drill does. 👍

Alright, fine, I'll go see him😉. It’s honestly refreshing to find a dentist who isn't a total butcher😂 like you say... the absolute worst part is being someone like me who's terrified of the chair, only to end up with a dentist who just wants to rip and drill everything out🥳....😲😛

Could anyone please recommend a reliable private practitioner here in Chicago? 😉

I am looking for someone who is professional, polite, and will actually deliver quality results.

Thanks.

EDIT: Actually, it doesn't necessarily have to be a private practice; I just need someone who is genuinely good at what they do. 😁
