A few people I know head over to Grgić’s place on Martić Street—well, I think that's the right street—and they absolutely rave about him. I don't have his exact number handy, though I'm sure he's in some directory somewhere. Give him a shot if you can find him. I don't have a ton of details, but hey, if this helps you out even a little, then mission accomplished!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid systemic checkup in Washington, D.C.?
Should I look into Sun or perhaps some other clinic?
I visited Nemetov, but frankly, I wasn't impressed.
Thanks in advance—I'll post my thoughts once I've actually gone.

P.S.
I’ve cycled through several dermatologists mentioned here—basically treated my skin like a lab rat with endless rounds of corticosteroids—and got nowhere. It took two specific doctors to finally land on the correct diagnosis (which, turns out, had nothing to do with steroids):
My recommendation, in this order: Dr. Nola and Dr. Stanimirović, both in private practice.

I'm looking for a solid private dermatologist... ideally somewhere in Brooklyn or just nearby...

My scalp is breaking out in these breakouts, it's itchy and painful... if anyone here has dealt with something similar and actually found a doctor who fixed it... please, I need some help...

Look, if you're in Brooklyn, go see Dr. Stanimirović. I'm pretty sure he's one of the top dermatologists in the city. You can't go wrong.
The address is Badalićev 36. I found his number on Google: 01/ 3820 077.
Hopefully, it's not an old number.

I am quite satisfied with the doctors I have finally settled on. It took me a considerable amount of time to find the right specialists, particularly when it came to my dentist and gynecologist... there was even a period where I found myself relying on a dental clinic near my old college 👍

Primary Care Physician —> Dr. Đurđica Božičević-Radić, DZ Center, Fascist Victims Square 10

Dentist —> Dr. Ljiljana Knezović, who runs her practice within SD Cvjetan Naselje (she accepts Medicare)

Gynecologist —> Dr. Tihana Mazalin at the Eljuga clinic (private practice), and Dr. Suzana Bokić at DZ Prečka (Medicare)

Haring Vukovarski at 16 is an excellent dentist. Honestly, if you're a woman, your jaw might just drop because the guy is so handsome. If you're a man, his wife has her own practice, and she's just as great.😉🙏,🙏

Greetings. I wonder if anyone might be able to recommend a competent orthopedist in Washington, D.C.—perhaps someone at Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, or any other reputable hospital system? I'm dealing with persistent heel pain. This issue was actually diagnosed over eleven years ago—back then, an orthopedist from a small town in the Midwest told me the solution was simply to stop running and playing soccer; basically, just walk and wait for it to pass. Well, as luck would have it, after eight years of being pain-free, the discomfort has returned. And what’s truly frustrating is that I'm not even running much anymore—just the occasional game of soccer, nothing extreme. But after being on my feet for an hour or two—mostly just walking—the pain starts to set in. Does anyone here happen to have experience with this, or perhaps know if there is an actual solution? If not, a recommendation for a solid specialist would suffice. Thanks in advance.

So, my dental records are currently sitting with a dentist I actually respect—he’s a solid expert—but his office is ancient. It looks like he hasn't invested a single dime into the place in twenty years. Plus, since I moved, his clinic is now on the complete opposite side of Washington, D.C. I'm looking to switch to someone closer to home, and there's a guy nearby I might try, but I have zero clue about his reputation. If anyone knows anything at all about Ivica Mršić, please let me know...

Quick question... I saw someone mentioning those holey glasses here. Not sure if there's a specific thread for them since I couldn't find one... but has anyone actually tried them lately? Look, I know they won't fix my prescription, but can they at least slow down the progression? Honestly, I'm sick of it—every single year after summer, I’m stuck buying new lenses or contacts because my vision just keeps sliding. God knows why. Since I've been hanging out at home more lately, I haven't been wearing my glasses much. Maybe they'd be good to use while I'm just zoning out in front of the TV? Anyone got the scoop? I'd really appreciate it.

If anyone is looking for a solid private dentist who won't absolutely break the bank, I think I can recommend a really good one in downtown Washington, D.C., over on Draškovićev. I’ve been going there for about two months now, and honestly, I’m super happy with how everything has turned out. It seems like mostly younger people go there, which was actually a pretty big deciding factor for me. I guess I just haven't had much luck with the dentists covered by Medicare—they usually attract an older crowd, and it felt like those doctors didn't really care about actually fixing my teeth. Maybe for older patients it matters less since they're already dealing with dentures or bridges, but since I don't have either of those, I really needed someone focused on actual dental work.

crimsonhound28 said:Thanks for the detailed report, 😘 but you know how it goes—everyone’s sensitive about this stuff, and half the industry is just selling smoke, especially when treatments cost a fortune.
I won't even say I've heard rumors of negative reactions (one girl told me she broke out in acne after just two laser sessions, and I've heard other odd stories too).
So, it's definitely useful for us to swap experiences and advice. 😉
See how it turned out that Dr. Kaliterna isn't quite the superstar they market themselves to be? Plenty of people are unhappy.
Anyway, I'm heading to see Matesica for an initial consultation soon, so let's see what her take is.

Snjoxi, did you end up seeing Matesica? What did she recommend, and did you actually go through with any treatment? Please, share your experience with us. 😉

I was considering fractional laser (the ablative kind); apparently, it’s less aggressive and offers the fastest recovery time—maybe 2 to 5 days—with only needing one to three sessions. But after reading all those horror stories about Kaliterna using that specific laser, I decided against it. Instead, I'll probably stick to a few microdermabrasion sessions while it's winter and see what results I get. I have some old acne scarring that I previously tried to fix with a heavy chemical peel; recovery took about four days, my skin was basically scorched and peeling off, and the whole thing was incredibly expensive—and likely would have required multiple rounds. About five years ago, it cost roughly $0.50 at Cekovićka's. I didn't write down the exact amount, and she wasn't exactly clear on 😲 which acid was used or the concentration. After a while, my skin looked exactly the same as before. Basically, the treatment wasn't strong enough, and I wasn't interested in throwing more money at it just to make it effective.

That's the struggle for those of us trying to fix our complexion: on one hand, we're acting as guinea pigs, and on the other, these places can drain your bank account whenever they feel like it. I think the most important thing is finding a legitimate professional who actually cares about client satisfaction—after all, a happy client is the best advertisement, and if they refer someone, they get another customer. 🙂

I've rambled on a bit there, but that's why we're here—to help each other out with tips and real-world experiences. 😁

A friend mentioned he’d lend me those prism glasses—I’ve been having some vision issues lately, and I suspect one of my eyes might be developing a prescription. I haven't actually tried them yet, but he’s convinced they can help.

There’s an explanation here regarding how they actually work: http://www.biorama.net/rupicaste-naocale.html
I’m honestly just curious if anyone has actually seen results from using them.

On another note, I stumbled upon some sites claiming you can fix things through eye exercises—there’s this theory about strengthening the eye muscles to improve focus. However, there are also people arguing that’s total nonsense, claiming vision problems happen because the eyeball itself elongates or shortens, meaning light doesn't land on the retina correctly.
I’m really not sure if strengthening the eye muscle would even make a difference in a case like that...

Anyway, here are some links to some exercises I found:

restlesslynx7 said:A buddy said he’d lend me his reading glasses since my vision's getting wonky. Pretty sure one eye is starting to go out on me. Haven't actually tried them yet, but he swears they'll help.

Here’s how things work around here. I checked out that link about those weird patterned glasses. Honestly? Just looks like another way to give yourself a headache. Total gimmick.
I'm just dying to know—did any of that actually work for anyone?

So, I stumbled onto some sites claiming you can fix things just by practicing more. There’s even that whole theory about strengthening the ocular muscles to improve focus. But then you get the skeptics saying that’s total BS—arguing the real issue is just the eye length shifting, which throws the light off target. Total headache.
Not sure if muscle relaxers would even touch this case...

Here are some links to some exercises.
I can't believe people actually think clicking on a random link to some holistic health site is going to fix their lives. It’s all just noise. Total nonsense.
Staring at screens all day? Yeah, it’s killing us. Visionworks has some tips on computer eye strain, but honestly, we're all just walking headaches at this point. It's inevitable.

I’m not expecting any miracles here. I know damn well it’s probably a lost cause. But honestly? I just want to try and stop my prescription from spiraling. It’s exhausting having to swap out my lenses every single year—it's driving me crazy. If this helps me just keep things steady, I’ll call that a win.
So, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered them today... we'll see how it goes. Honestly, I’ve read enough about this stuff to be skeptical, so I ran a little experiment on myself. I actually made some makeshift paper glasses just to test the theory. Wore them for two weeks while watching TV, and yeah—I could actually see fine again with my current prescription. Meanwhile, back in September, my actual glasses were already too weak and I couldn't make out small print. Typical.
Been home for a while now... perfect excuse to get some practice in. Figured I'd focus on my eyesight and just see where it takes me. At least I can say I actually tried.

Post those results!

Maybe you could even try making a DIY eye test—just print out letters in different sizes, kind of like what they do at the optometrist, and then you can test yourself every week.

Yeah, true... I guess I could... I even downloaded some workout apps already... so I'll just try doing a little bit of everything... every single day. Can't hurt, right? 🙂

Does anyone here have any firsthand experience dealing with Dr. Jelen Ević at the university health clinic? Apparently, she’s the one assigned to my college... I’m looking for some insight—thanks in advance.

Amanda Rogers312 said:As far as recommendations go, you should definitely check out a private OBGYN at the "Nemetov Clinic"—they have two absolutely stellar doctors there.

Tomislav Miletić and Dr. Miro Šimun Alebić

They are both amazing; I’ve been seeing them for quite a while now and I am honestly so incredibly happy with the care I get. The doctor really takes the time to actually listen to you and they’re super professional, plus the nurse is just wonderful.
They have both morning and afternoon appointments available.
The prices are pretty reasonable too.
You can just look up their website if you want to check them out or get in touch.

Seriously, Nemetov is hands down the best clinic I've ever been to, and I'm never switching gynecologists again.

Dr. Alebić is still practicing over at Nemetov 😕, though I know he also works near Vuk Vrhovac

Does anyone happen to know a decent GP on the West Side of NYC? ... I am seriously losing my mind with my current doctor—honestly, I might as well just diagnose myself at this point (which I know I'm not supposed to do)—because I can't even remember the last time she actually gave me a prescription, a referral, or any kind of medication. One time, when I was actually sick, she basically told me I wasn't an old enough woman to be worried about it and that it was nothing, so I should just drink more tea. Meanwhile, I felt like I was dying—running a 103 fever, coughing my lungs out, sinuses were a total wreck—and she just sent me home with absolutely nothing. That’s just one example of... well, everything. To make matters worse, my regular doctor just retired, so now I’m stuck without anyone because I have no clue where to even go. Thanks...

Seriously, stay far away from that private clinic on Fifth Avenue right near the big hospital—the one calling itself "aesthetic dentistry." They absolutely wrecked my smile, and honestly, there’s no fixing it now. I'm beyond pissed, especially since they had the nerve to charge me a fortune just to mess things up. Consider this a warning: it’s all just superficial makeup anyway. You’re better off just keeping your actual healthy teeth intact.
