Samuel Scott54 said:The sequel is actually great!

I went ahead and rewatched the first one just to get back into the right headspace, haha..

By the way, those special tactical units really do exist...

I stumbled upon a documentary on YouTube about the BOPE unit http://youtu.be/6YoLjpLDC_I

No subtitles, though.

Watched it yesterday and, honestly, I walked away feeling pretty let down. Based on all the hype and comments floating around here, I was expecting something that actually topped the first one. But in reality? It’s just another movie that, unlike the original, fails to bring anything new to the table. I’ve seen a mountain of films with this exact same setup—just one guy taking on the system. Look, it’s a decent enough watch, but it doesn't come close to the first one.

The pacing dragged for me halfway through, though the ending managed to save it.

I guess I actually like the sequel better than the first one, no question about it...
even though the original was pretty solid

This is hands down the best movie out right now. I still remember watching Elite Squad and being completely floored by how intense the action was. Honestly, I used to think Americans only made movies about samba. While Elite Squad 2 isn't quite on the level of the first one, it’s still a solid watch. They seriously need to get the actor who played Nascent to join the cast for The Expendables 2. 🙂

Personally, I think the first one is superior, though I definitely enjoyed the sequel too...
All things considered, I'm on the same page here:

I felt like the second movie was more about the political backdrop, whereas the first one felt more like a raw, street-level action flick.
That’s why I preferred the first one. Honestly, I felt like something was missing from the Nascent character in the sequel—like, where was the female perspective? Or just some actual emotion? Why on earth did he have to be so damn alone throughout the whole thing?

Absolute masterpiece. Truly a fantastic film.
Between the great direction, the killer script, and the stellar acting, this was top-tier.🙏
Even with Wagner Moura in it, the movie just leaves you breathless.
You honestly can't take your eyes off that movie.
Of course I’ve seen it—that unit was absolutely top-tier.
It’s pretty safe to say that the sequel completely outdid the first one.
Alright, I see everyone's jumping in here saying there’s less going on in this duo.
Look, let’s be real about Elite Squad 2—it’s just one of those movies where the plot is secondary to the sheer intensity of the action.
The most important one.
I disagree that the movie didn't bring anything new to the table. I haven't even...
I just finished watching that movie where they go all out on showing the direct link between crime and everything else. It’s incredibly explicit about how deep those connections run.
It all comes down to the police and the politics behind them.

The first installment is easily one of the best non-English language films I've seen. I'll be checking out the sequel sometime this week.
