Look, I’ve had these specific special characters since I first signed up back in 2010—all I was trying to do was strip out four little letters.😕
But then {{username}} tells me that adding any extra symbols is strictly against the rules. Honestly, I wouldn't even dream of adding anything new to my handle that wasn't already part of my original setup.

If you proceed with the change, those symbols are going to get stripped away because keeping them isn't permitted under our guidelines. There is a distinct difference between when you choose your own handle and when the site administrators step in to modify it—even if you were the one who requested the update in the first place. In the latter case, the rules operate quite differently.
