You don't really need the "org" part—you can just call me Joshua Jones10 if you want. But please, don't call me Reddit.com.

Honestly, I’d stay far away from Wikipedia.org—not my scene at all.
Is there anything here that doesn't involve Wikipedia.org?

Well, you've gotta come up with your own handle, I guess, and once you actually tell me what you're thinking of switching to, maybe then I can give you my two cents on whether it's anything like your current one or if it's a total departure 🙂
And just so you know, you can't use any weird symbols or whatever in there

Is it okay if I go by wiredfox4 🙂? Since there's "octo," "octopus," and even "octopussy" (some people have even more), I wasn't sure how else to change it without completely losing my identity 🤷 😢

Come on, seriously... Get in touch with Miami.

Honestly, I'm stumped on what would work. The tricky part is that it should probably be somewhat similar, but then why bother changing it at all?

Let's give it a shot...
Harvard?
Chicago?
Traborg?

I mean, it’s gotta be somewhat similar, right? Like, you need to make sure the regulars on Reddit can actually link you back to your old handle. There’s really no point in doing a complete 180 and changing it so drastically that people have to play detective just to figure out who showed up. That’s kind of the whole catch, I guess.
Honestly though, those three options you threw out there don't really vibe with your old one at all. That second one just rhymes, which doesn't really count as being similar, if you ask me. I probably wouldn't even recognize it was you, even if I tried.

Is it possible to change the name in Dallas? That user is already registered, but they haven't actually posted anything since signing up.
If not there, can we do it in Dini5?

It should work in Dini5. Just reach out to the team in Miami.

Maybe go with green then?🙂
I’m honestly out of ideas—could you suggest something else?

🤣 🤣

Go back and re-read that post from Red Cross... Your new nickname really needs to stay close to the old one...

Honestly, I don't see the point in changing a username unless it's just fixing typos—to me, it feels pretty pointless. On most US forums, you can change your handle whenever you want without any hassle, which is exactly why people do it; the new name shows up on all your old posts anyway, so everything stays clear
It’s obviously going to force me to start a whole new account and leave my old history behind, even though I really wanted to pick up where I left off on some old threads—which is just frustrating

One more thing—do you think other users will actually be able to connect the dots? Take someone like Tyler Price, for example, who changes his name from Dallas to something else when there are already like ten different people on the site with names like Tyler, Ty, T-Price, etc.

Kind of a silly point, really.

I mean, I honestly think it’s just way better to pick a handle right out of the gate that actually feels unique so you aren't constantly getting mixed up with everyone else.

For instance:
Look, we all know Reddit has a massive amount of users, and yeah, there's a decent chance the nickname you want is already taken, but do you really, truly want to go by User123? If we've got people using names like Anne, User2, User3, User1976, User33, and stuff like that, you're basically asking to be confused with everyone else on the board. And if you slap your birth year onto the end of a name, well, you won't be that age next year, but your handle stays stuck like that forever. Wouldn't it be smarter to just use a little imagination—like, instead of being Anne, maybe Jane becomes John?

Wikipedia.org said:on international forums, changing your nickname is usually totally unrestricted.

Just because that's how things work on other sites doesn't make it a rule here; every single community has its own set of guidelines, including how they handle name changes.🙂
And look, the whole point of this place is that even after someone goes through a tweak to their name, they should still be easily recognizable, which just makes sense, I guess.

I don't think I even need to go into all the details, right? 🤷

Pretty pleaseeeeeeee, just let Terry Turner2 on the site 🙂

Look, I get it... my bad, but things were super blurry and chaotic when I was signing up.
Cut me some slack here image

Seriously, try picking a username without a period in it next time.

Joshua Jones10?

Nick is busy.

Look, just give the first post a proper read—otherwise, I’m gonna have to start handing out warnings every time a rule gets broken...

I mean, Terry Turner2 can go with whatever, honestly. Spaces are totally fine in the corrections, and if you ask me, it actually looks a bit cleaner that way.
But look, both versions—Terry Turner2 and Lady—are officially approved, so just pick one and let the folks in Miami know what you decided.

And fix the spacing, please.

Also, maybe think about picking a shorter handle so people don't get lost in this nonsense current one? Ideally without any special characters.

I checked the rules. There’s nothing mentioned about a maximum length for a new username. 🤷

Also, I'm not asking to add any special characters to the handle. 🤷

If it's possible, I'd appreciate it if my username could be changed to But, nothing is everything!.

If there actually is a character limit for updated usernames, you should probably just put that in the rules... avoid the confusion.

And yeah, if the length is such a huge issue, I'll settle for Nicole Sullivan94. Just with the exclamation point.

EDIT: just noticed the user above me had a period added to her new handle. 🙂 Good to know.

Nick is just way too long.
The system caps registrations at 15 characters max—and yeah, spaces count toward that total—so we kind of have to stick to a certain length if we want things to actually work.
As for that period you mentioned, that’s a bit of a weird edge case since it was just an initial. Special characters aren't allowed when you're doing corrections, but honestly, I don't really see a way to change yours without losing the whole vibe or making it look totally different, though I guess on the flip side, you'd be getting rid of one extra character.

Anyway, just hit up rustydrifter10 about this second Nicole Sullivan94
