Kevin Newman3 said:If you're looking to break a post down into chunks before replying... just highlight the section you want with your mouse and hit theicon.
Yeah,
then you just type away. Just make sure to preview it before hitting send—if you see a bunch of redundant "quote" tags popping up, just delete them. It takes a little practice, but it’s not exactly rocket science.
Got it, checking the preview sounds like a solid plan.
See? Like this...
Well...
Yeah
And then you just type... I guess you should check how it looks before sending, because if there are too many quote tags, you can just delete them. It takes a little practice, but it shouldn't be too hard....
Haha, checking first sounds like a good idea.
See, like this....
Hmm
Yeah

If you're trying to grab a bunch of different posts at once, just hit that "Multi-Quote" button (it's right next to the regular Quote button) on every post you want to include, except for the very last one. Then, just click the standard Quote button on that final post you're aiming for.

I'd prefer them kept separatethen just click the regular Quote button on that final post you wanted.

Right next to that "Quote" button, there's an icon for "Multi-quote." Just scroll through the thread and click that icon on every post you want to address. Once you're done, head to the bottom of the page and hit "Post Reply." A window will pop up containing all the posts you selected.
Good luck navigating this mess. 😉

Where am I missing the mark? If you could provide some more specific guidance, I’d appreciate it.
My current process is a bit of a cumbersome workaround—I tend to hit Quote, copy the entire block, strip out the parts I don't need, write my response, then paste the whole thing back in just to prune it again, and repeat the cycle indefinitely.

Okay, I finally managed to get it to work, but only using the inline quote feature within a post... That bottom Wrap Quote option and the space right above the text editor are still being completely stubborn...

Let us attempt this.
Yes, it is.

I need some assistance here... everyone else seems to have this figured out, but I am completely clueless when it comes to this stuff. Could someone please explain how to insert a "quote" when I want to reply to specific parts of someone's post? Please, help!!! 😲
Yes, it is.

How do I multi-quote one single post?
Like, if a post is super long, how can I reply to specific parts of it separately?
I've looked everywhere, but I just can't find it.
I even checked here, but I don't have that checkbox for "Wrap tags around selected text."
The last box I see in the bottom right is "Quick reply to this message."
I tried highlighting the specific text I want to quote and clicking that button, but absolutely nothing happens.
Next to that button, I’ve got the "Multiquote" and "Quote" options sitting to the left.
The Multiquote thing works fine when I'm trying to grab multiple different posts, but it won't let me multiquote within a single post.
I actually already got a warning on the forum because I couldn't figure out how to multiquote one post, so I just split it up with dashes instead—and the same moderator who gave me the warning hasn't even replied to my PM about it! I really don't want to rack up any more useless strikes just because of this "glitch." 🤦
Somebody Help me, please? 🕺
Btw I'm using Google Chrome on Windows 8
PS: A few times I've just resorted to copy-pasting the same post over and over, quoting it multiple times, and then manually deleting all the extra stuff I don't need from each block.
But man, that takes forever—it totally kills the mood for quoting and makes it such a chore to respond to those longer posts.

Is that really how you see things? 😁
You need to head straight over to the advanced options—it’s located right next to the "Quick Reply" button. Once you click that, a whole suite of editing tools will pop up above the text box. If you aren't sure what a specific tool does, just hover your cursor over the icon and the description should appear.
I don't typically operate this way, and frankly, I'm not a fan of how this looks.

| The last little box appearing in my bottom right corner just says "Quick replay on this message." I tried highlighting the specific section I wanted to quote and clicking that little box icon, but absolutely nothing happens. |

| Besides that little square icon, I also have those boxes sitting right to its left labeled "Multiquote" and "Quote." |
The multi-quote button works perfectly fine when I'm trying to select multiple posts at once, yet for some reason, it completely fails whenever I attempt to multi-quote just a single post.
I’ve already been slapped with a warning on this forum, which honestly seems ridiculous since I was just using dashes to separate posts instead of using the multi-quote feature. To make matters worse, the same moderator hasn't even bothered to answer my question regarding the rule, and frankly, I have no desire to pick up some pointless penalty point over something so trivial. 🤦

Thanks! I'll give that a shot. Quick question though—how do you do those multi-quotes for long posts?
Sometimes you just want to jump in and respond to specific parts of a post personally, right? I bet you feel the same way!
I'm trying to figure out how to quote things like in this post here: http://www.example-us-forum.com/showpost.php?p=5...&postcount=568
#580 ·
Gregory Ramirez2....I felt the same struggle, honestly. Let me try to break this down for you.....if you want to split up a single post to reply to it bit by bit, just use a standard quote block. You basically divide the text by sandwiching the specific part you're addressing between two markers...for example Gregory Ramirez2
. Then, at the end of that snippet, you put the closingtag...and right after that, you type your response to that specific section. Then you move on to the next part of their message. So, essentially, you need to wrap the copied segment with those tags at the start and end...I know, it sounds like a massive headache...but just keep practicing...that's how I eventually figured it out myself
