The first installment was filmed back in the 80s, and for a few years, everyone genuinely believed it was an actual snuff film. I even read somewhere that Charlie Sheen watched it, passed out cold, and then rushed straight to the FBI to report that he had witnessed a real snuff film. 😂

But there was this serial killer over in Japan who modeled his crimes after those movies.

That scene involving Monica Bellucci is, in my estimation, the most harrowing thing I have ever witnessed on screen.
What makes it truly unbearable is how relentlessly it unfolds; if my memory serves, it drags on for a good twenty minutes.
I can't imagine how many other people didn't simply walk out mid-screening😁
As for the fire extinguisher sequence, while it clearly relies on CGI, the entire context surrounding it is utterly revolting from start to finish.😁
Frankly, every single scene in this movie is a catastrophe and pure sickness.
From what I have gathered regarding the director's intent, this film wasn't even designed for public consumption or commercial promotion; rather, it seems to have been crafted out of sheer, perverse indulgence.
But there it is.

And the soundtrack in Irreversible is basically designed to make you want to barf (especially in those first 20 minutes). That, combined with the jittery, nervous camerawork, is why people were losing it 😍

The first 30 minutes of the film features this low-frequency background hum at 28Hz—it’s almost inaudible, kind of like the vibration you feel right before an earthquake hits. In humans, that kind of sound triggers nausea, sickness, and vertigo. It was the main cause of people walking out of the theaters during the first part of the film in places like Cannes and San Sebastian. Honestly, they added it on purpose just to get that exact reaction

Maybe it’s been a while, but I still find myself thinking about those snuff clips in Videodrome. There’s that scene with the naked girl whipping two guys in what looks like some kind of makeshift, post-apocalyptic fallout shelter—those walls look damp, almost clay-like, and there's this weird sense of static electricity pulsing through them. It’s just one of those moments where David Cronenberg weaves his specific brand of madness into the film—honestly, he does it better here than almost anywhere else.

Schindler's List features one of the most monstrous villains in cinematic history, Amon Goeth.
It’s honestly one of the best performances I've ever seen; in my opinion, Ralph Fiennes was robbed of an Oscar for this.
He tortures and kills with such calculated cruelty that you can't help but loathe him. A prime example is
when he orders the execution of an innocent woman, and even after realizing she wasn't actually guilty, he just shrugs and says: "Kill her anyway." Pure evil.

Unforgiven – watching Morgan Freeman get whipped to death is brutal.

Misery – what is there to say aboutAnnie Wilkes? Once you see that movie, that name is going to haunt your thoughts for a long time.

And I'm with you on Reservoir Dogs, Saw and Marathon Man.

They practically had to release a "making of" documentary just to convince the public it wasn't real footage.

That's actually Ruggero Deodato, the director behind that cannibal classic "Cannibal Holocaust" from 1980. I think someone already brought him up in here. As for the scene itself, it was lifted from "Waxwork," which I mentioned back in my first post.

I’m not sure if I’m actually messed up or what, but honestly, the assault in *Irreversible* wasn't even the worst thing I've seen in a movie. It didn't hit me nearly as hard. For me, the scene in *Man Bites Dog* is way more disturbing—that whole part where they gang up on the woman while the guy just watches, only for them all to get killed at the end? That was brutal.

The couple in "Irreversible" actually played husband and wife in real life, too. Which makes me wonder how the director even convinced him to sit there while that disgusting creep spends ten minutes assaulting her and grabbing at her...
If a director ever pitched something like that to me, I’d probably lose my mind.

Boxing Helena, the whole movie 🤮

The absolute most agonizing moment for me—I mean, truly gut-wrenching—is in Terminator 2 when the T-800 has to prove to the scientist that Sarah Connor was actually trying to kill him by demonstrating he's a machine; he ends up slicing through his own skin just to convince the guy... I honestly couldn't sleep for three days straight after watching that.

Honestly, I actually get a kick out of those scenes in "Jaws"—you know, when that shark finally gets its teeth into Quint and starts dragging him under, and all you can hear is that sickening crunch of ribs and spine snapping.

The rest of the movie is garbage. Not deep at all, if you ask me. I mean, if that’s supposed to be everything Jesus went through, then anyone tortured by the Spanish Inquisition must be some kind of global messiahs and martyrs. They went through way worse stuff a hundred times over, yet no Christian collapses into unconsciousness or starts sobbing just thinking about their torture... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr😠 😠 😠

ehem... okay, maybe it wasn't physical torture, but man, the psychological stuff? brutal—both for the audience and that poor guy stuck in 1408!!! that movie absolutely rocks, and honestly, it kind of wrecked me mentally!!!! my favorite part was when he jumps through the window and you see that massive shot where there's just one single window left in the whole building!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! damn! so now you've got me totally hooked on Irreversible!!!! if we're talking about movies that mess with your head, The Machinist is right up there. total madness! poor guy, though—the vibe was so depressingly heavy I practically couldn't get out of bed for a week. (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but it was sooo depressiiiive!!!! and gorgeous, easily one of my all-time favorites.)
