Look, let’s get one thing straight—those aren't "chapped lips." Real chapped lips are when your skin actually splits open and everything starts stinging like crazy.
You probably picked that up in some back alley somewhere—I bet you were drinking with someone who has the exact same questionable taste.

Look, I didn't exactly go looking for this problem—it wasn't like I planned to wake up with this mess. My lips just felt completely parched overnight, and by the time morning rolled around, they were actually cracking. It wasn't even a burning sensation or anything, more like a dull, nagging ache because they were just... broken. Dammit..
Honestly, I am in absolute hell right now—it’s constant misery. At this point, I’m seriously considering just throwing out the rulebook and turning to traditional home remedies to get some relief. 😁

Fish oil balm - just apply it overnight and your lips will be totally restored by morning 😍

I don't see the point with ChapStick; it doesn't do anything for me anymore. It’s honestly useless now. I just stick to Vaseline or Balea instead.

I usually just go with a thin layer of ChapStick for prevention, mostly just keeping it on hand for when the tube runs dry. I haven't really stumbled upon some miracle cure to speed up healing once things get bad, but if I stay ahead of it with constant ChapStick application 🙂 and make sure I don't spend too much time licking my lips in this freezing weather, they haven't cracked on me yet this season.

Mine have started cracking up on me lately, but even using some Neven’s remedy doesn't seem to do much. I also tried this new ChapStick Hydro Care; the first half was actually decent—not too greasy or anything—but now that I'm halfway through the tube, it feels just as old as ever. It seems like every ChapStick I buy starts out fine and then just goes to hell. I guess maybe they just keep it in their pockets too long and the heat ruins it or something... anyway, don't mind me, just rambling about makeup and & stuff like a total brat.

Just try applying some regular lard—seriously, it works wonders

I've actually heard people mention using lard too.
Personally, I find that applying some honey for a couple of nights in a row usually does the trick for me. Or, if I happen to have some Calendula salve on hand—that really is my go-to for both my hands and elbows during the winter when my skin gets super dry everywhere. You can pick it up at a local CVS; it isn't expensive at all.

Honestly, I've found that just using plain old butter worked better for me more times than I can count. 🙂

I was looking at that Decal lipstick, but man, it feels like such a rip-off... like, almost 90-$40 bucks? I mean, sure, it probably works wonders, but still...

Give Orajel (Nano gel) a shot

My dentist handed me a tube for free.

I originally picked it up to deal with some periodontal issues—had been struggling there—but I’ve found it works wonders for canker sores too. It handles other things as well, though I'll save those details for another thread on this forum.

I’m not sure if there’s already a thread for this, but I couldn't find one. Basically, my lips are constantly chapped. It doesn't matter if it's summer or winter—they just crack, hurt, and peel constantly. I’ve tried every balm, cream, and oil under the sun, but nothing seems to work. I follow all the standard advice, too; I don't lick them and I'm actually really careful about it, yet they still look terrible. Sometimes they get so bad they actually start bleeding. What am I supposed to do? Could this be pointing to an underlying health issue, or am I just stuck with chronically dry lips? Thanks for any help.

I’m dealing with the exact same thing. As a guy, if this hadn't been my reality for as long as I can remember, I might actually be worried. If I don't apply some ChapStick at least once a minute, my lips dry out instantly—to the point where the skin just peels off in flakes. No one ever really gave me an explanation for why this happens. I’m 33 now, and I know I’ve been stuck with these chronically dry lips since I was a kid, probably twenty years ago or more.
If this is a sudden change for you, you should probably go see a doctor. But if this is how it's always been, then it's most likely nothing to worry about.
Cracked lips can sometimes be a sign of a Vitamin B deficiency, or there could be a whole laundry list of underlying medical issues, but honestly, there's a 99.99% chance that it's just your baseline.

Both of you aren't drinking nearly enough fluids—specifically water—and when you get dehydrated, your lips are always the first thing to take the hit.

That’s the main reason right there.

That’s certainly possible, though I sometimes have to force myself to drink more just because I tend to forget about it entirely. I've also noticed my mouth gets noticeably drier whenever I'm feeling stressed.

Stick to drinking from a bottle; you actually end up consuming way more water that way compared to using a glass, mostly because the sensors in your palate don't kick in quite the same way when you're sipping from a bottle. Also, try applying some Purlan ointment to your lips. It’s pure lanolin. Women use it to soothe cracked skin during breastfeeding. It works wonders.

Honestly, after trying basically every product on the drugstore shelf, my top pick is definitely:
himalaya lip balm😍

I’m looking for some advice here—my lips have been cracked for well over a year now. It gets so bad sometimes that they actually start bleeding. I’ve tried everything under the sun—ChapStick, various ointments, even calendula cream—but nothing sticks. The skin just peels right off, specifically my bottom lip; my top lip seems perfectly fine. Could this be a symptom of an underlying health issue—maybe a vitamin deficiency? Should I start taking those multivitamin supplements?
