Lots of water and some Bath & Body Works or Almond hand cream—that's my go-to. It might have a bit of a greasy feel to it, I'll admit, but honestly? In my book, it’s lightyears ahead of any of those fancy ointments or over-labeled brands out there.

Like someone else already mentioned, I’ve dealt with chronically dry lips my entire life. I swear, I’ve tried everything under the sun—from the cheapest drugstore stuff to high-end luxury brands—and it’s all just a temporary fix. It's driving me crazy. After two or three days, the skin starts peeling off in actual chunks. I drink plenty of water, but I've realized most lip balms actually make things worse. The only ones that seem to help even slightly are calendula from Alverde, Carmex sticks, or just plain honey.
The worst part, though, is that all these balms are just greasy. They add oil, but I think my lips actually need hydration. I need moisture/water, not just a heavy oily layer.
Out of everything I've used, the BEST thing is a DIY balm I make with honey, lanolin, wax, shea butter, and hemp oil. I was actually thinking about it during my commute this morning because my lips look noticeably worse now that I've run out.

edit: My current DIY balm has a little moisture thanks to the honey, but I'm planning to try making a thick cream that actually incorporates both water and an oil phase.

Has anyone actually bothered to see a dermatologist about this? I'm curious what their take is—if they even have one.
As for hydration, I'm drinking water whenever I feel the urge; it’s not as if I’m suffering through some sort of dehydration-induced exhaustion.

The upper lip is perfectly fine—smooth, soft, no issues there—but the bottom lip? Good grief, it's nothing but peeling scales.

Well, there's a Chapstick called Hydro—it's light blue and claims to actually hydrate your lips.

I know exactly how you feel... I went through the same thing myself!

Luckily, I stumbled upon this one cream with a hint of peppermint... it works wonders for blood flow and even gives the lips a little plump look. It's perfect for me!
I don't want to turn this into a commercial or anything...

So you think you aren't going to promote it?! 🙂
Of course I'm waiting for the full name of the cream 😬

Look, we all know advertising and self-promotion are strictly against the rules here...

And since the Mods have already decided they have it out for me anyway... I'll just keep my secrets out of the public eye!

Look, we aren't all idiots. We can tell the difference between a genuine recommendation and a blatant ad. 😛

Just say what cream you're talking about (unless it’s loaded with weird stuff like colloidal silver 😁), and nobody is going to come after you. 😁

I’ve dealt with chronically chapped lips for as long as I can remember. And I’ve been around for nearly 40 years now.
Basically, I feel like I’ve tried just about everything under the sun, from high-end luxury balms to drugstore basics, and I've read countless articles on the subject. My take is that people experience lip dryness for all sorts of different reasons, so what works for one person might not work for another. But anyone who actually struggles with this knows just how frustrating it gets. I haven't even touched lipstick because my lips were always in such bad shape... it was just a lost cause. I once read somewhere that people with certain sensitivities should avoid products containing lanolin, yet it seems like almost every lip balm on the market uses it. For me, those tinted or glossy "statement" lipsticks usually make things worse, so I’ve avoided them for years.
Recently, while grabbing whatever lip balm happened to be nearby, I ended up applying some Aquaphor ointment (mothers will recognize this—it's the go-to for soothing a baby's diaper rash). The relief was instant, and the results after just two days were nothing short of incredible. I’ve had perfectly smooth lips for about two months now. 😁 😁 😁 I apply it two or three times a day. It has been a total game-changer. The ointment in the tube has a very neutral taste; it isn't bland, and the consistency is just right—not so thick that it's sticky, but not so thin that it disappears immediately. Of course, if I wear lipstick, my lips dry out quickly again, but if I dab a little of this magic cream on, everything is fine. No cracks, no peeling, no tightness. I felt like I had to share this. 😁 It’s not exactly cheap—a 30g tube runs about $20—but it lasts forever. Honestly, I think it’ll expire before I actually run out. Give it a try and let me know... I hope this helps at least a few of you. 😁
One quick tip: this product comes in both a cream and an ointment version... make sure you get the ointment. That's the one that actually works. 😁

It’s been quite a while since I last posted here—so long, in fact, that I actually forgot my password. I ended up registering a new account just so I could share this 😉

Can someone point me toward a good cream to help heal a little cut on my lip? It’s just a tiny thing, but I want it gone fast. Please, don't just suggest Vaseline—I'm looking for an actual treatment cream.

I've narrowed it down to these two:

And this one: https://mamablogerica.wordpress.com/tag/krema-usne/

Does that panthenol stuff actually work for healing, or does it have anything to do with fungi?
