casualotter21 said:HELLO?! I’m the one who recommended "dawn bite" to you? The guy who was right there with you writing those stupid ninja novel parodies over at Literature?! Dude, *of course* the movie is good! It's great! And it's great specifically because it's intentional TRASH and full of clichés. I'm telling you: if someone told us, "adapt a ninja novel for me," our version would look exactly like that movie. Trust me on this!

I was just messing with you about whether it's actually "good."

I'll probably head out on Thursday.
The only thing that bugs me is that the shows are only at 8 PM and 10 PM (before that, they're playing Finding Nemo in English), so I'll end up getting home by 11 PM, missing the cartoon, and sitting here moping and crying about it.

Do you have a link to the soundtrack?

The movie is pure genius.

And that music? Absolutely killer.

Just walked out of the theater!!!!!1

If I actually sat down to dive into the specifics and give a detailed breakdown, I’d probably just end up repeating half the threads already posted here!

Hands down one of the most intense movies I've seen in a long while!!!!!111

Old man Tarantino is at it again, basically being his own legend!!!

A bunch of people told me, "Look, this is the kind of flick you're either going to absolutely hate or fall head over heels for..." Well, I fell for it immediately!
From the opening frame to the credits, I was glued to every single scene, every bit of dialogue, every movement, and every single drop of blood (okay, maybe not *every* drop, there was way too much damn blood to count).
We all know Tarantino is a master... I've always wondered what his next project would look like and if it could ever top his previous work, and now I have my answer!!!1 I honestly can't imagine anyone making a better film than this—and I don't just mean within this genre. It covers everything from Bruce Lee style kung fu brawls and gritty American dramas to Russian adaptations of Tolstoy and British documentaries, all wrapped up in that pure Tarantino surrealism (plus plenty of those intentional TRASH scenes and elements)!!!!!1 I might be talking a bit too much, but I'm still riding that high!!!!(If I had a katana handy, I'd probably go slice something up...!)

By the way, did anyone else notice that in his movies, nobody is actually a "good guy"?

If you haven't seen it yet, you seriously need to watch it!!!!1
Definitely a classic in the making!

Does anyone know when the sequel is coming out?

I completely blanked out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Just caught a massive wave of euphoria!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Without the soundtrack, this movie wouldn't even be half as good!!!!!

Which really just goes to show how top-tier his musical choices are across his entire filmography too!!!!!

Tarantino is a legend👍

Look, since I hit the theater with Grace Scott, I can only back him up on this one.

The movie is phenomenal.
I’m not going to just parrot everything he said—his take pretty much covers it—but I’ll add that I haven’t seen a blend of avant-garde, trash, and classic filmmaking like this in a long time. Actually, scratch that. NEVER.
It’s a non-stop barrage of fantastic sequences, hilarious situations, and revolutionary cinematic moments. Honestly, this is exactly why I can't fully write off the American film school system or the whole industrialization of Hollywood, which basically cast a shadow over all the cult classics from the past.

As much as this film is alternative and revolutionary, it’s still totally accessible. It’s got everything: criticism, praise, irony, self-deprecation, sarcasm, humor, the grotesque, avant-garde vibes, pathos... you name it.
It’s just this massive fusion of styles, something only Tarantino could pull off.
The soundtrack is killer too. It often clashes with what’s happening on screen, which adds this extra layer of tension and leaves you with these totally mixed-up emotions regarding the film itself.
You just get lost in it. You lose all sense of space, time, or even trying to hunt for a direct message. The specific events don't matter, and neither does some grand moral or point. It’s just about the feeling.

Brilliant.👍

WAIT, WHAT?! I'm the same guy who recommended "dawn bite" to you? The one who was right there with you writing those stupid ninja novel parodies over on the literature boards?! Dude, *of course* the movie is good! It's fantastic! And it’s fantastic precisely because it's such intentional TRASH filled with clichés. Fine with me!

I agree, the movie is great.👍

Look, that's just our forum regular Grace Scott, and she actually posted just a bit before I did...

😳 😛

And hey, it’s actually good to see someone else who gets it. Nice to meet a kindred spirit. 👍

Yeah, I know 😁
But I didn't catch it in a theater. I watched it at home on my PC with some friends, some beers, and sandwiches 😁

The damn recording had "property of Miramax" watermarked at the top the whole time and the audio quality was pretty subpar... but whatever, you can't exactly grab a beer in a cinema anyway. 😁

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Gogo is seriously hot.....
A total babe... honestly, maybe she could pull off a little nose job, but she’s still super cute. And man, that skirt...

I didn't care for the film. It was uncomfortable to watch, saturated with violence and anxiety on one hand, and cluttered with "I'm-Tarantino-and-I'm-cool" tropes lifted from his previous work on the other. Tarantino was clearly torn between attempting to craft something meaningful and producing something entirely senseless. The movie tries to maintain a dead-serious tone while simultaneously mocking everything in sight. While it might be worth a trip to the theater, it isn't exactly memorable. Compared to hellish junk, this is merely an overthought effort from an overconfident director.

If Tarantino's intention was to be inconsistent with everything, then he really should have been consistent with that idea.

I didn't care for it. It was uncomfortable to watch—just constant violence and anxiety on one hand, and then all those "I'm Tarantino and I'm cool" tropes ripped straight from his old stuff on the other. It feels like Tarantino was stuck trying to decide if he wanted to make something meaningful or something totally mindless. The movie tries to be dead serious at times, but then it just mocks everything and everyone. Look, it’s worth a trip to the theater, sure, but it isn't something that sticks with you. Compared to hellish junk, this is just a pretentious exercise by an arrogant director.

If Tarantino's whole goal was to be inconsistent about everything, then he should have at least been consistent with that idea.

That's your take, and hey, you're entitled to it, but if you ask me, you completely missed the point.

Man, you missed the mark completely. The movie is dead serious, not some joke. And saying it isn't even close to hellish junk? Please. Tarantino isn't some "overthought, arrogant director," and the soundtrack is freaking incredible... This is easily his best work yet. Honestly, you just totally missed the point.

I didn't really care for it. It’s an uncomfortable watch—heavy on the violence and anxiety on one hand, and cluttered with those "I'm-so-Tarantino-and-I'm-so-cool" tropes lifted straight from his previous stuff on the other. It feels like Tarantino was caught in a tug-of-war between trying to make something meaningful and making something completely mindless. The movie attempts to be dead serious in some spots while mocking everything in others. While it might be worth a theater trip, it isn't exactly memorable. It doesn't even come close to being as good as hellish junk; it's just a self-indulgent effort from a self-important director.

If Tarantino's whole goal was to be inconsistent, he really should have been consistent about that.

I just can't get behind this at all!!!! 1

I'm not sure what you're basing this on—either you haven't actually seen all of Tarantino's films (and if you have, you clearly missed the point), or you just enjoy having people quote you...

None of Tarantino's movies are actually pleasant to watch....
They're all loaded with violence.....
And none of them are "serious" (meaning they don't carry a direct message)
...
What makes you think Tarantino is self-indulgent and arrogant? Do you know him personally? (If so, introduce me!)

Not even close to being as good as hellish junk

You can't even compare these two movies!!!!!!!!!! 1

and cluttered with those "I'm-so-Tarantino-and-I'm-so-cool" tropes lifted straight from his previous stuff.

What tropes from his past work!!!!! 1 The only real constant in Tarantino movies is the same recurring cast of actors!!!!!!!!!

You definitely missed the point of the film (or maybe you were just in a bad mood while watching it)!! 1

Alright, I just watched the film for the second time and all I can say is—brilliant!
It actually landed even better this time around; I caught so many more details, and the sound design is just genius. Honestly, for anyone who speaks English, my advice is to skip the subtitles because some of those Tarantino bits just don't translate well... they lose the vibe entirely.

Tarantino really belongs behind bars because someone as disturbed as him shouldn't be allowed walking free on our streets. That specific scene where Buck and that redneck are hovering over Uma Thurman—while she’s just lying there pretending to be in a coma—and he starts explaining the rules to him... it honestly makes me wonder what kind of twisted mind comes up with ideas like that, let alone having the nerve to actually put it on screen.

👍 The film is 👍 👍 👍 👍

I watched the movie today... honestly, it was just boring, a total snooze fest, especially that part where that typical girl gets swarmed by a hundred people in the hall and then, of course, she somehow defends herself... all that nonsense... plus the plot itself was pretty dull, barely any excitement at all... crap !!, such a disappointment👎
