Don't click if you can't resist reading the whole thing... unless you want to ruin the movie for yourself, right? 😉 Kill Bill script

Thanks a bunch! Don't worry, I'm a man of strong character... Not. 😁

If you enjoy watching trash films, then fine by me. It's just important to distinguish whether they were actually designed that way, or if the audience just branded them as such (which probably doesn't please mediocre directors much).
I think if Tarantino really wanted to, he could (consciously) make the BEST TRASH FILM OF ALL TIME, LIKE, EVERRRR!!!!! (in all caps)

Well... that’s exactly the terrible irony of it! My whole take is that that is precisely what he did with Kill Bill. Watching it, I kept thinking, "My God, if someone was crazy enough to have the cash to film their own idea and they did it just like Tarantino—all the exaggerations, all the over-the-top music and dialogue... EVERYTHING!"—I would be absolutely livid and dissatisfied if anyone at my screening didn't laugh at how awful the movie was.
And if the guy was being serious... well, my respect for him definitely takes a hit, but the movie remains a legend to me regardless. I mean, maybe we'll laugh at him for a different reason now, but we'll still be laughing... which is something rarely achieved by any new comedy.

REGARDING CAPS IN THE SCRIPT: It's possible those caps are just a standard convention from the era of typewriters. They don't necessarily carry the same emotional weight as they do on the internet, WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE IS SCREAMING!!!! !!!! !!!! It's more likely just one of those norms for highlighting IMPORTANT things—so you see what matters at first glance.

That's a shame... I was already about to draw a parallel with some guy on the internet who writes NINJA movie scripts as a joke. But once I read this a bit more closely, it seems I have plenty of material here for comparisons as well. 😁

Just finished watching this flick, and man, I gotta say: total BLOOD BATH! 😁
I actually dug it, felt like Tarantino was just staring us down and saying, "You want blood? Here's your damn blood!"
Word is from the creator himself that Vol. II is gonna be a bit more chill.

coastalorca3, I think you're taking yourself way too seriously. The guy spent a massive amount of money to make this ($60 million plus), and since he’s clearly obsessed with kung fu movies—given how often he brings them up—this was bound to happen. He made a movie that's pure fun, though you can try to take it seriously if you really feel the need... personally, I had a blast. Why bother with these damn analyses of Tarantino's wet dreams?

He made a movie that’s just pure, unadulterated fun, and hey, if you really feel the need to overthink it, you can try to take it seriously... but personally, I had a blast. Why bother with these deep-dive analyses of Tarantino's wet dreams?

Man, there are always these "individuals" who just can't sit down, grab some popcorn or bite their nails, and actually watch a movie without turning it into a lecture. They're just like those losers who spend all their time nitpicking buttons on Titanic or finding flaws in The Matrix, trying to weave together these endless webs of facts. I'm not talking about Justin Patel.😁

Personally, I find Tarantino interesting enough that I might dive a bit deeper into his work—and maybe type up some thoughts along the way.
It’s really about his specific trajectory—his success feels more significant than anything else.
If I didn't appreciate certain elements of his style, I probably wouldn't bother analyzing him at all.

But hey, from here on out, I guess I'll just post about how his movies are super great.🙂

You don't always have to take me seriously, but his last film was honestly a blast for me. There might actually be more to dig into with his earlier stuff, too. Just speak your mind—if you can't do it here, then where can you?

I read through that script you linked, and that's basically how the movie should have looked if it hadn't been broken up. It actually seems even better, though it probably would've been way too long.
I didn't want to read the whole thing because then I'd see the ending, and I don't need that.
I wish there had been more madness, and maybe some Gogo Yubari.

It's a joke, man. Playing with clichés just to make something entertaining. A tribute to Hong Kong cinema.

No offense dude, but please tell me what kind of point you were actually expecting from a movie that starts off dead serious by claiming the saying "Revenge is a dish best served cold" is Klingon?

....

On another note, there's already a thread about Kill Bill. Go post it there.

Hehe, I guess we were just working with different translations...😉

Old School Klingon: "Revenge is best served cold."

It’s really all about the style and the humor.

I don't know—it just feels like in Pulp Fiction, there was this sense of balance, whereas here, the style kind of took over everything, and maybe the humor suffered because of it.

I'm going with the two guns and the Lee katana, you pick the spot where you're gonna leave it all.

My two cents: that was some pretty lousy Eastern cinema. I managed to sit through about five minutes before I just gave up and turned it off...👎 👎 👎

Give me a break... everyone is out here obsessing over "points" and deep meanings in movies and all that crap !! You just watch a flick to relax, you know? That's it...

Jeffrey Long... I bet you didn't even sit through HALF the movie!

The movie is just a prelude—the sequel should be hitting theaters here in May, and I honestly can't wait... I’m going back to watch it again. I heard the American dub for Finding Nemo was just as damn good.

First off, the movie arrives in February (that's the second month, which has 29 days this year since it's a leap year, and man, I really wish I could head over to Athens right now)---

Secondly, anything dubbed is automatically worse than the original because you're dealing with two different languages, and you just can't perfectly capture the same impact of the dialogue.

Thirdly, I was planning on seeing Underworld, but I had to drop some cash $200 on a new phone, so I don't have any money left.
I only have a few bucks.

I haven't. Honestly, I only watched until that one scene where those two get their asses kicked right at the start, just before the daughter shows up... 👎 👎 👎 🙂 🙂 🙂

I caught this at the theater earlier today (didn't want to ruin the experience watching it on DivX). The movie is phenomenal. It’s almost pure Tarantino. The only thing missing to make it total Tarantino is drugs in every single corner.

There are so many nods to Pulp Fiction throughout the film, so I'll list a few I caught (there are probably way more, but I've only seen it once):
When Bride travels from Okinawa to Tokyo, there's an ad for "Red Apple" cigarettes in the background. "Red Apple" is the brand Quentin Tarantino invented for Pulp Fiction; if anyone remembers, Butch orders them in that bar scene when he's making deals with Marsellus Wallace. It’s also significant when Bride wakes up from her coma—she lets out a scream that’s almost identical to the one after she takes the adrenaline in Pulp Fiction. I also loved the part where she talks to that Black woman and says "then we would be square," making that hand gesture that looks just like when Travolta says "don't be a square" in Pulp.

The film is incredibly bloody, and I actually liked how it occasionally shifts into black and white. Some of the details are just brilliant: when Bride gouges that guy's eye out, when she stabs that 17-year-old girl, or when the katana slices the head off that third girl. That anime segment was absolutely phenomenal; they really nailed the animation... Genius... The soundtrack is incredible, it follows the action perfectly, and I loved that scene with Buck🙂 I was dying laughing... 😁

P.S. Is that song the one-eyed girl whistles when she's disguised as a member of the Sestorka visiting Bride on the official soundtrack? Does anyone know the name so I can "download" it? And does Tarantino have a small role in Vol. II?

I actually just picked up the soundtrack yesterday, and man, it's killer.👍

The track you're looking for is number 4, "Twisted Nerve" by Bernard Herrmann.

My advice? Don't just grab that one song. Get the whole damn album...🙂
