This is what really gets to me about all this COVID-19 panic. I get being cautious about a new virus—I’m careful myself, wearing gloves and using hand sanitizer and all that. But it’s just hard to wrap my head around how we can get these kinds of results instantly for something like the flu, yet I don't remember any kind of mass panic ever happening before.

Austria is seeing a massive spike in flu cases right now. Over 700 people are currently hospitalized, and apparently, young adults are getting hit the hardest. I guess things are just spiraling.

It looks like things aren't looking great for the younger generation in Austria. I was reading about how the youth there are feeling pretty hopeless about their future, mostly because they feel like they’re being squeezed by economic pressures and political stagnation. It’s that same old story where the people who are supposed to be building the future feel like they have no stake in it. Maybe it's just how things work now, but it seems like the gap between what young people expect from life and what they actually get is widening. I guess we'll see if anything actually changes, or if this is just the new normal for them.

Hospitals are hitting their breaking point due to the flu season. Over at the Mayo Clinic, they’ve actually started banning all visitors.

I guess it’s just another case of numbers not adding up to reality. They're reporting that there were over 2,000 visitors, but looking at the actual turnout, that feels like a massive stretch. Maybe they're counting every single person who walked past the entrance, or maybe the math is just being massaged to make the event look more successful than it actually was. It's hard to take these official figures seriously when you see the empty spaces for yourself. Just seems like typical fluff to keep the stakeholders happy.
Ten patients at the Mayo Clinic passed away from flu complications. I guess things are getting pretty grim.

It looks like things are getting messy again. According to the latest reports, there's some serious tension brewing over how the government is handling the current situation. I guess you could say the political landscape is looking pretty bleak right now. There’s a lot of finger-pointing happening in the halls of US Congress, and honestly, it feels like we've seen this movie before. People are frustrated, and frankly, I can't say I blame them. It seems like nobody can agree on a path forward, which just leaves everyone stuck in limbo. Maybe it'll settle down soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Flu season is hitting hard, and hospitals are already running low on ventilators. They’re expecting thousands more cases to roll in soon.

It looks like the numbers are starting to climb again. I guess we’re seeing a rise in the number of people getting sick, which isn't exactly surprising given how things have been lately. Maybe it's just the way things go, but it feels like we're constantly bracing for the next wave. It’s pretty much what you'd expect at this stage.

I'm sitting here watching US Congress, and honestly, here comes Glassnovic, going on and on about the old intelligence agencies and the war.

I’m finally sitting down to watch Mindhunter on Netflix. I’ve been putting this off for years...

It’s the same story with Altered Carbon—I keep skipping over it, but once I finally wrap up my shows about Mexicans (after finishing Narcos, I’ll move on to Chapa) and dive into Freud, I suppose I'll tackle it if there's nothing else worth my time.

The English game is actually quite decent. Sure, some of the football scenes feel a bit ridiculous, but the overall atmosphere is solid, and you might even see a few good beards pop up. ☕

NYC and football were both pretty ridiculous back then.🙂 It’s exactly what you mentioned—it's solid, but you can tell the creator also did Downton Abbey; there are way too many female characters involved if this is supposed to be a series about football.🤷

And another thing that bugs me—the historical inaccuracies are everywhere. It makes zero sense; Darwen can't get knocked out of the second round of the cup by Brigg if Brigg was already eliminated in the first round, especially since Darwen itself lost to Blackburn🤷

All in all, if you don't follow football, I probably wouldn't recommend this.

I was honestly just waiting for them to reveal that Love and Fergie were actually seeing each other... because apparently, every single Netflix series needs to feature at least one gay couple that has absolutely nothing to do with the plot, just to squeeze in some steamy scenes between two guys—or occasionally, two women...

restlesssurfer97 said:So this whole idea about paying out minimum wages just to force employers to keep their staff on the payroll is honestly just 👋

I mean, think about it—they basically ban you from firing someone, mandate that you keep paying them a minimum wage just so they don't lose their job, yet they won't even touch the payroll taxes, which you still have to cough up for three months straight. They aren't getting rid of those costs at all.

Sure, you could probably sell this nonsense to the average sheep who blindly votes for the Republican Party thieves, but there’s no way you can pitch this to a real entrepreneur who’s been loyal to their employees for years.

In reality, a worker and a business owner would just sit down, agree on a termination, the worker heads over to the unemployment office to collect 60% of their pay for three months, and the employer doesn't end up stuck paying any extra taxes.

But no, instead, Aladrovic cooked up this scheme to screw over both the boss and the employee by setting the minimum wage payout at $3,250.

Total idiots.

The fantastic Horvat & Aladrovic duo, the geniuses who are supposedly going to pull us out of this massive economic crisis... 👋

And now they're cutting unemployment benefits too. 👋

That first link from Austria is definitely about COVID-19—guaranteed.

Source?

I see the head of HOK is pushing to temporarily suspend labor laws—apparently, having to actually pay people and respect their rights is too much of a burden during a crisis. Of course, he’s also eyeing collective bargaining agreements for removal. Since we're playing the "crisis measures" card, why not just

COVID-19 is going to hit them hard. Once things settle down, they'll be using it as an excuse for years to justify how bad everything is left to rot.

I’m telling you, if this doesn't turn out even worse than the 2008 crash, I don't know what will. Businesses will fold, prices will skyrocket, and utility bills are going to hit the roof. Now they're just going to start printing more money to patch up budget holes, leaving future generations buried in debt up to their necks.

dustyridge3 As if I haven't heard enough of this already...
I tend to skip over Altered Carbon quite often, but once I finally wrap up my run through the Mexican crime sagas—specifically after finishing Narcos and moving on to Chapa—and get through Freud, I’ll probably dive back into it just to have something to watch...

The English game is actually pretty solid. Sure, some of the football scenes feel a little ridiculous, but the overall vibe is great—plus, you get to see a few good beards along the way... ☕

Look, I’ll be the first to admit that *Altered Carbon* is a visual masterpiece—it’s absolutely stunning to look at—but when it comes to the actual substance? The plot is incredibly thin. It’s all style and no soul...
I really dig the premise of the book and the world they built, but I can't say the series actually did it justice...

People are saying Freud is a total disaster, though I haven't even bothered to sit down and check out the trailer yet...

It looks like there’s some movement regarding the latest economic shifts in America. I guess we're seeing more of those predictable adjustments to the fiscal landscape that everyone keeps talking about. It seems like things are shifting again, though I suspect most people won't be surprised by the outcome. Maybe it's just the way things work now. Everything feels a bit repetitive, honestly.

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but looking at things here in the States, I can already tell it’s going to get tougher. And if this drags on for six months or more? It’s going to be much, much worse.

Typical—American laws always seem designed to protect shady entrepreneurs rather than actual workers. It’s like everyone was just waiting for a crisis to roll back protections for people who have zero leverage to switch jobs.

There's nothing left for us here—honestly, we'd be better off being absorbed by Austria or at least somewhere more stable. It would still be an upgrade.

I honestly can't help myself here: what an absolute, disgusting piece of trash this guy is!

Go ahead and ban me, I don't even care.

This pathetic excuse for a human being is directly responsible for making life at least 20% worse for every single person living in this backwater hole of a country.
Around here, union leaders act just like Josip Broz Marshall—they aren't going anywhere until they drop dead.

He, a man who hasn't spent a single day working in the private sector, has the audacity to label everyone else incompetent. It’s honestly infuriating 🙏 I have to wonder what kind of alternate reality those people inhabit.

And why on earth are you two acting surprised? The man pulls in roughly 10 to 12 thousand$0.00 a month; naturally, he has to fight tooth and nail to protect his own pockets.
