Noah Perez9 said:It isn't a Polo; we are talking about Passat values reaching 45,000 dollars...

But you wandered off into Off-Topic... which isn't even the subject of this thread...

The real subject here is you—your arrogance, your conceit, and your sheer idiocy. It’s a rarity that people realize Grace Turner is a moderator... and it’s equally rare that people know the moderators on Tourism are Air Canada, but everyone respects them. They carry themselves with dignity, they speak normally with everyone, and they deserve nothing but respect...

It’s not off-topic if you’ve already repeated it here and on other forums multiple times. I’ve explained the "how" and "why" to you both publicly and in private several times now.

If you’re still forcing this on me despite all my explanations, I can only assume one of two things: you're trying to provoke me, or there's something wrong with you.

Because, again, I can't wrap my head around how you can have something explained to you ten times, and instead of understanding it, you just completely ignore it.

Same goes for everything else—I’ve told you guys countless times: if you want to joke around, go to the jokes section; if you want to mess around, hit the men's corner; if you just want to chat, go to Off-Topic... someone comes here looking for actual answers, and it's up to you whether you choose to give them one.

I've said all this a million times in various posts and private messages to some of you... so, are you just trying to get a rise out of me, or is there actually something else going on?

Michael Lee4, if you don't plan on drastically cutting down that 20%, you might as well just resign. The issue lies with you and how you treat people; you aren't treating everyone the same, and a moderator is supposed to be NEUTRAL AND FAIR.

Of course, some level of tolerance is necessary since we're all just human beings here.

Look, you have to try being a moderator for at least five days before you realize what an impossible mission this actually is...

Because you can't treat everyone the same. You can't handle someone with 5,000 posts who has been here for years acting out and causing trouble the exact same way you handle some new guy with two posts who's already making a mess...

It's just like real life... in any workplace, there's a lot more leeway given to the veterans than to the fresh hires... and that's just how it goes. Reputation is earned through seniority...

Also, for the record, I’ve never gone around publicly labeling your posts as "toxic," "nonsensical," "stupid," or "braggadocio"—even though, honestly, I’ve thought it plenty of times. Just... tone down the subjective labels. Your opinion is just your opinion, man; it’s not some objective fact just because you write it in a post.

I don't let it get to me too much. I've grown quite accustomed to Michael Lee4's posting style by now—and it isn't just my experience, others feel it too. He struggles to string together even a basic complex sentence with a clear beginning and end, not to mention the frequent grammatical slips.

His level of contribution is really just this: blablabla...

Michael Lee4 said:What am I even supposed to say to someone who drops 1,500 posts of just pictures in three months? 😁

That conversation you took personally was really about how you guys turned car guessing into the main topic, flooding the feed with camping photos, car reviews, and non-stop quoting of images...

Don't try to take my "insult" out of context... just quote the full sentence or sentences where those words actually show up.

As for me "not having time" to moderate the forum... do you honestly think any moderator on this site has the time to read every single thing? That’s why the report button (those little triangles under the avatars) exists—so you users can flag issues when you run into them.

So what if it is? I mean, this is a free country where there isn't any censorship... or at least, there really shouldn't be, I guess.

I mean, if someone feels like they need to write, I guess they just... need to write? You know? Just let them do their thing. As long as they aren't being offensive or anything, I don't see why not. That’s really the whole point of a place like Reddit, isn't it? To give people a spot to share stuff, maybe post some photos, or just pass along info... it's fine, really.
Just imagine... what if one person just stopped posting? Or maybe two? Then five? What if fifty people quit? Or ten thousand? What if everyone just... vanished? What kind of forum would that even be? I mean, would it even be a forum anymore? Maybe not. I guess.

Alright man, from what I can gather looking at these messages... you probably aren't cut out for the moderator role, just like the guy who started this thread said. And honestly, it's because:
The way people treat each other... I mean, maybe it's totally fine in Canada or Mexico, but in America? Not so much.
You know, I feel like some of the posts you're putting out there... I don't know, they've got this specific vocabulary, almost like someone from the rural hillsides watching sheep or something. It just feels a bit out of place for the main American forum, I guess. Maybe it’s just me, but it doesn't quite fit the vibe here.
I guess it’s just one of those things... like, constantly getting into arguments with people. It happens more often than I'd like, I suppose.
4. A lack of authority (maybe you had some once? but I guess you lost it...)
Maybe some others could jump in and add to this... I guess.

I've said my piece... I just hope that stepping down from power doesn't end up offending you too much!

You're probably right. Stinger does most of the heavy lifting behind the scenes, but then he totally blows it the second he steps onto the stage and starts typing.

Even if he is the absolute worst, you aren't exactly master mechanics or anything, so there's no point dissecting him on car forums.

Timothy Morgan38 said:Yeah, man, but try seeing things from his perspective for a second... when you have to spend your entire day deleting and editing posts because of a stray image quote, or repeating the exact same thing a hundred times over... it gets incredibly irritating. It becomes exhausting...

And it's even worse when the same group of people keeps saying the same things constantly... at that point, even the stones would start crying...

Well, give his perspective a rest too... arrogant, rude... I can afford to be all that myself
and I'll take my punishment, but shouldn't he actually be setting an example?
My biggest gripe is when they post total chaos
only to show up the next day acting like nothing happened after deleting everything.🤣

He’s definitely not cut out for being a moderator, but if anyone can stomach him constantly preaching
that a Ford is the best value for your money just keep going.👍

coppernomad28 is clearly living in some movie fantasy; he found a workaround by bypassing this PF (honestly, the thread title caught my eye though 😁 )

Anyway... that's my two cents... bye bye

Now, let’s be perfectly clear—I’ve taken an infraction myself once for some heavy off-topic rambling... and honestly, maybe it was for the best, because I ended up acting like a complete troll (and it wasn't even a particularly good day, so I suppose my nerves were a bit frayed 😁). Besides, I could have easily dragged five more trolls into causing chaos on that thread 😬

At any rate, personally, I don't see any compelling reason why he should be replaced. Although, I do think it would be much cooler if he engaged with the trolls a little less publicly (similar to what happened with those new arrivals—those trolls who were supposedly kicked off the Honda forum)

Supposedly, that's probably true, right?😂

My explanation is pretty much the same as his, and frankly, I find you just as much of a jerk as the names you throw at other users—calling them idiots and all sorts of other things. I’ve been seeing it for months now: you are incredibly blind to what's happening. It's like watching a horse wearing blinkers so someone else can steer it. You don't apply rules equally to everyone; you act like a complete anti-moderator, and it isn't surprising that a huge crowd of people is fed up with you.

You spend a massive amount of time moderating things that shouldn't even be touched, yet when you actually need to show up where it matters, you're gone for days... claiming you "didn't see it" or that "someone else should have reported it"... meanwhile, your own insults fester for days and you don't even notice...

Back when that thread about the little VW powerhouse was titled that way, people could talk about Volkswagen as if it were God itself. But the moment someone mentions a Clio or any other "junk" cars, suddenly it's all bad—service is too expensive, the cars aren't good enough—and those are usually just Michael Lee4's words...

The whole point of a forum is the exchange of ideas. If things get a little wild in the Off-Topic section, it shouldn't be an issue, except on these specific pages and only for certain users, which is obvious to anyone watching. There are piles of quoted posts with repeated images and nobody says a word, yet when I first showed up, I didn't even know it was against the rules and I immediately got hit with warnings...

It doesn't matter whether there's a shift change for Michael Lee4 or if there's a better or worse moderator; on the few sub-forums I visit here, he is definitely the worst, most unpleasant, and most disrespectful... honestly, looking at that signature under his name is just pure trash... written in all caps...

Problems aren't solved by talking about what kind of oil someone uses or how tall they are, which is what I was reading today; problems are solved through actual action...

What we used to bring to the table—the photos we shared to connect, the information we exchanged—that's what bothered him. We were people coming to this forum to be heard, spending our time hanging out over a shared interest... not to insult each other, argue, or trade barbs... but Michael Lee4 was right there to ruin it, because clearly, he's a moderator who isn't as unhinged by conflict as the others...

Unlike many people here, I tend to drive a variety of different cars, so I don't have to ask the endless stream of silly questions that get posted here every single day...

But those silly questions are exactly what makes a forum what it is: the jokes, the banter, and everything else... none of which is possible with Michael Lee4 around.

If someone is insulting someone else, I understand why action is taken. If someone is swearing, making false accusations, or inventing events—a moderator should step in early. But look at that thread with User; there was no moderator for days. That guy was messing with people for days, leading them on, and someone intentionally let it happen...

And I know that if Michael Lee4 stays, there are going to be countless more warnings handed out, but it doesn't matter... he's just that kind of person, and it's clear as day in this response...

The real question is how long they'll keep this open... an hour, two, or maybe a day or two? I wouldn't be surprised if he nudges his crew to jump in so ten extra voices chime in just to get the thread locked...

So that's it from me; you can spit all you want now... I'm standing with coppernomad28.

And to Michael Lee4, I'll say it straight, just like I told you in your private messages: I User every single night, and I don't need to waste my time obsessing over this forum...

You realize you're obsessed with VW, right? Before my words blow up, maybe try reading them carefully again, because clearly, reading isn't your strong suit.

If I've said five times now that I didn't enter that thread until I saw you guys mentioning it on the Honda forum, then I didn't enter it until then. I don't know what part of that is confusing. Just like I don't understand why I have to repeat myself for the sixth time. Like I've already said multiple times, I don't watch every single thread because nobody has that kind of time—though you forum users apparently do. I'll say it again: use the report button. If you had just hit that instead of bickering with cj7, this whole thing would be over.

So now, after explaining this to you so many times, I have to wonder: are you trying to provoke me, or is something else just not clicking?

Honestly, I think once even the people who can't stand me read how many times I have to repeat myself, it'll become pretty clear where everyone stands in this situation.

As for rallying "my" crew to vote? Like I said, those poll results don't mean much since anyone can jump in...

Listen, my dear Noah Perez9, listen... I'm not afraid of words. I know how to write and how to answer questions. The only issue I see here is that you aren't reading what I write. Whether it's intentional or accidental, I'm not sure which is more tragic.

Look, life isn't just about the stuff you can actually get your hands on, you know? It’s deeper than that. Have you ever heard about the Crusades? Seriously. They fought those massive wars over religion—over things you can't even touch or hold in your hand. Just abstract ideas and faith... crazy, right?

Regarding the Crusades, it wasn't really all about faith. Honestly, that was just the excuse used to stir up the uneducated masses. Just like any other war, it was truly driven by a hunger for power, authority, and money, while the common people were just being led along. And as for the forum, honestly, who cares if it disappears? It’s not like anyone would miss it, though I suppose there are plenty of folks out there looking for a place to voice their "wisdom."

I don't think so—he’s more suggesting that a lot of people probably just picked option two because they couldn't care less. Meanwhile, those of us who actually enjoy this forum are stuck dealing with his constant reign of terror over the threads. And honestly, I have a feeling things are getting pretty tense right now, and we all know what happens when that starts brewing...

Because before I got here, this place was a disaster—a total mess, just a pile of garbage... and I was brought in to fix it. Look, if I managed to "survive" my first month after nuking three chat threads despite all the heat people gave me, and now those same people are laughing with me instead of at me, that's enough for me. If a "kid" like Giga figured things out at 19, and people twice his age still can't grasp them, there isn't much else I can say... and no, I'm not a perfect user; nobody is.

Honestly, I’m starting to get a little bored waiting for this thread to actually gain some momentum... I think one part of what's being said is spot on, and frankly, I believe we can settle this without all the drama. Michael Lee4 clearly has his circle of supporters and his fair share of "rivals." The recent poll pretty much proved that. So, my advice to everyone—and let's be honest, it's a bit pathetic 😁—is just stick to the rules. And as for you, Michael Lee4, try to respect other perspectives or find some middle ground 😍. Less deleting, more letting the conversation flow naturally until it actually crosses the line into being toxic.
Just take it easy... nobody is going to come after you if you step in on someone's comment (believe me, you're the only moderator who puts this much heart into this forum, and the fact that you've clocked over 16,000 posts proves it!!!). I still remember when you told me I was acting like a child or a brat... funny how I might end up saying the exact same thing about you. You care about this place just as much as I care about my own posts... or something like that, haha
.
Michael Lee4, I’m rooting for you... hoping for better days ahead. Maybe even starting TODAY
. By the way, I finally hit 18 😉

Just admit to Michael Lee4 that you're in the wrong; it doesn't cost you anything...

I have a fuzzy memory of that post too—can someone give me a quick rundown? Also, I'm wondering if Stinger apologized to Frank Collins85 publicly or via PM?

Publicly? I doubt it. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been a need to delete the post and hide what happened...

I used to be a mod on a different forum, but the principle remains the same: equal rules for all members. No exceptions. Whether you’re a newcomer with two posts or a super VIP with massive contributions, everyone can screw up. You give them a fair warning to watch themselves, and if they don't, then the sanctions follow. It’s like what happened on that Honda forum with one specific member—he was given a polite warning, then a formal warning, but since he wouldn't settle down, he eventually got the boot.

Simple as that.

Obviously, we’re all human, and there needs to be some level of tolerance. Everyone has bad days or feels off sometimes. But it can't happen every other day; that isn't normal, and something has to change.

Personally, I have nothing against Mr. Stinger or any other moderator, but I certainly have an issue with their poor judgment. Like the time I got caught in a clash with some of their "friends"—even though I provided accurate info, I got flagged for "trolling." Or that other time I got banned just for responding to systemic provocations and insults from a member who hadn't even received a warning.

I'm not bringing this up to justify my own actions—I was punished for a reason—but rather to illustrate poor moderation. This poll was started precisely because of these kinds of situations.

Just one request to start: read everything I've written, and I mean everything. Thanks.

Anthony Lopez5 said:Here’s my take on this thread, which I’d probably have started myself if I were one of the old-school members here.

Look, I think it's obvious to all of us that being a moderator comes with a massive amount of responsibility alongside the power you gain. You have to handle it responsibly and impartially—at least most of the time.

But let's be real: the way Michael Lee4 demonstrates his power through his moderation, his sarcasm, and the constant—both overt and subtle—mocking and insulting of users who don't fall in line, is definitely not a textbook example of good leadership.

Let me explain why I say that...

Our local "love him or hate him" figurehead has proven time and again that his actions are driven by pure ego. Honestly, it’s gotten to the point where I can’t tell if we’re dealing with Michael Lee4’s ego or if the ego itself has become its own entity.

I’ll look back at things over the last three years or so...

Back on the car boards, some troll using a handle like Rionero would start a "BMW vs. Mercedes" thread. What began as a total troll thread turned into a virtual hangout for many of us. We'd discuss everything vaguely related to PF, but genuine friendships formed there—offline, of course (to the extent that I actually spent my vacation this year staying with User and partying with User and User). It was all built on banter and casual conversation. Naturally, the popularity and post count grew because of it. If I remember correctly, Michael Lee4 wasn't a mod when the thread started, but he became one later. Basically, during that era, there was very little off-topic chatter elsewhere because everything centered on that one thread, making it the perfect digital lounge.

If you click the link to that thread and read even just the first 10 or 20 pages, you’ll be laughing your head off—and pay close attention to who wrote the very first post after the OP:

Of course, the main roadblock was Michael Lee4. He used to complain about us on other threads regarding that specific discussion. Even if he didn't delete those posts, I really don't have the energy to spend hours digging through archives to prove what he'll just deny anyway—not to mention he called me mentally unstable in a private message.

Then, once Michael Lee4 felt sufficiently empowered by his mod tools, one day the thread just vanished. It disappeared as if it never existed, without any warning or explanation. That was my first real glimpse of his character, which is ultimately the biggest stumbling block and the reason people are calling for a change in leadership.

It wasn't until about a month ago that I received a blunt, baseless explanation via DM: "there's no room for chat on the car boards." I don't buy that for a second. Productive conversations can come from anywhere, including a chat thread.

Anyway, the thread was dumped into the off-topic section—which is a tier below the recycling bin—and predictably fell into oblivion since it was technically part of the automotive PF. I honestly suspect this was a calculated move to make it look like the topic wasn't popular and deserved to die out.

My experience with Michael Lee4 shows someone who can hold a perfectly normal conversation right up until someone presents a solid argument or proves him wrong. Once that happens, the insults start—subtle in a DM, or blatant through deleting posts and handing out warnings. It’s the classic double standard: I call someone an idiot and get a warning, but he calls someone a MORON and gets a pass. And it’s not a one-off thing; it’s chronic, like bronchitis.

That aforementioned game of guessing cars was shut down abruptly and autocratically, without any prior warning. It was bottom-tier moderation. Thank God that out of a dozen or so posts, I managed to nail half of them on other PFs. I've dealt with other moderators before, and their style isn't anywhere near this. I honestly don't know how to describe this level of moderation without resorting to insults or getting a warning myself. Besides, I have no desire to stoop to Michael Lee4's level or give him the satisfaction of handing me a warning or a ban.

I also think a moderator should be able to tell the difference between a new user who’s just struggling to navigate the forum waters and a clone or troll who's specifically here to flame people and cause trouble. The former needs some gentle guidance, not to be immediately met with all guns blazing and handed a ban from the PF.

Real life is serious and difficult enough for all of us; we come here for information and a bit of relaxation and banter. But how are you supposed to relax when you're waiting around wondering if Michael Lee4 is going to jump out from around a corner with a red or yellow card? For God's sake, if this were soccer, fans would have torn him to shreds by halftime...

I know Michael Lee4 will probably start making excuses now through jokes, sarcasm, and provocations—but honestly, his chosen avatar says more about him and his ego than anything else.

I’ll also touch on that Lupo topic and those lukewarm apologies from Michael Lee4 about not being able to make it—look, I don't care if you couldn't make it, but you seem to find time for everything else, and that topic was bumped to the top of the PF for over seven days. Cj7 deserved at least a three-day ban for openly insulting forum members, but he DIDN'T GET ONE. He deserved the topic to be locked, but YOU only did that once the anti-comments reached massive proportions. Honestly, that topic probably would still be at the top right now if you had acted sooner.

I won't call you a shill for certain car brands or a journalist or any of those other nonsense labels, because I know that isn't true. You're simply incapable of being a quality moderator for this PF.

But the fact remains: based on your reactions, it looks like you blindly support one specific brand while refusing to allow any comparisons with other brands regarding design, price, quality, etc., always following up with that weak explanation that "this topic isn't for that." For crying out loud, where are we supposed to discuss it then? On a cooking forum?

This, like any other PF, should be a place where people can't wait to visit to read something new and have a laugh, provided it doesn't cross the line into insults. It shouldn't be a chore to check in.

Michael Lee4—you said yourself that you don't need this moderation in your life and that things would be easier without it, SO WHY DON'T YOU JUST STEP DOWN?

Also, I'm curious why the poll isn't public so we can see how everyone voted.

That's all from me for now. There's a lot on my mind, and maybe it's not perfectly polished, but if I think of anything else, I'll write it down.

Oh God, here we go again... First off, I haven't been a moderator nearly as long as you think—it's barely been over a year. If you really believe I deleted anything in that chat you're talking about, feel free to reach out to any admin to check; they can see everything.

You figured it out the second you noticed the topic was gone. Honestly, I think it happened the same day. It’s exactly what I told you back in our PMs, and it’s what I’m telling you now. The Mercedes vs. Benz thread was only pulled because they nuked that other chat—the one about women drivers or whatever it was called. I didn't kill it immediately because I completely forgot it even existed, but once the trolls from that deleted thread migrated over to "your" chat and started acting up and making a mess of things, it had to go.

I don't know how else to break this down for you. If you still don't believe me after what I said in my PM, there's nothing left to say. Honestly, it's insulting that you won't take my word for it and keep twisting my facts.

Kind of true... I’m capable of communicating normally, but once I have to repeat the same thing ten times because someone just isn't getting it, that's where it ends. I don't know how you guys handle those situations, but personally, I only see two possibilities: either you're trying to push my buttons, or there's something broken "under the hood"... and either way, you're getting a reaction.

Sure, you’re on this site 24/7, so you think you see everything I do—who I message, who I warn, what I write before you even step in. But you don't have the full picture. Claiming you won't act because you're afraid of handing me a warning like you did to me is just nonsense. You gave me two warnings because I was trolling, plain and simple. The sheer volume and reasoning behind everyone else's warnings speak much louder than my two.

Just do me a favor and read what I wrote earlier on this thread. If I say I didn't even enter the thread, then I didn't. I don't jump into every single discussion; I'm not on here 24 hours a day, though I am pretty active during the time I am. Again, if anyone had actually reported the issue, it would have been fixed immediately.

I’ll ask you again: go back through my posts and find any proof for those claims. It would be pretty weird if I were biased toward certain brands when I don't even work for the two or three major players on the market. I’ve been doing the same job for ten years, and it has zero to do with cars.

I’ve commented on design plenty of times, and there’s nothing wrong with that. The issue is when people start critiquing someone else's taste. That inevitably leads to bickering, then full-blown fights, and eventually just straight-up swearing once a bunch of random forum trolls jump in to stir the pot. That’s exactly why I try to shut those arguments down immediately. If someone can't wrap their head around that and thinks I'm just attacking their favorite brand, I honestly can't help them.

I’m too attached to this forum to leave over nonsense like this. If the majority decides (and I know who I'm talking about) that it's time for me to go, then I'll leave—at which point I won't need moderation anyway. But as long as I have to deal with trolls and idiots, I'm fine staying.

The poll isn't public because I didn't set it up. Ask the author. My guess is it's to prevent people from just signing up repeatedly to skew the results. I'm not saying that's the reason, but it's probably not as big a deal as everyone is making it.

No clue how long this thread will last. Things move slow because a few people feel the need to repeat themselves constantly, which brings me back to my original doubt: whether someone is just being provocative or if there's something actually wrong "under the hood." 🤷
