I was expecting my period to show up any day now, but instead, I've got this dark brown—basically almost black—discharge that’s super thick. And honestly? It hurts. Like, whenever I touch anything down there, it's painful. I don't even know how to describe the sensation... it just feels dry, and then there's this tightening feeling, I don't know...
About two months ago, I had an ultrasound, and the report mentioned that my ovaries look similar to polycystic ones. What does that actually mean? And could that be connected to this weird discharge?

For me, that kind of discharge always happens during the first and second day. Honestly, it's nothing weird. But if you're feeling that pain and tightness, you might be dealing with some kind of irritation. Who knows what caused it—maybe it's your underwear, your pads, stuff like that. Or maybe you've got a case of Candida. You really ought to call your gynecologist and ask them what the move is. As for those "polycystic-looking" ovaries—go check out here and here. If they look like that, it could mean a whole bunch of different things. Basically, it sounds like you're just experiencing SOME of the symptoms listed for PCOS.

My period cramps are absolutely brutal for the first two days after I get my flow... but honestly, whatever, I don't even care anymore.🙂

I keep getting this dark brown discharge regularly right before my period starts... maybe two or three days ahead of schedule. I don't have PCOS, though I am definitely prone to breakouts and have oily skin...

hmm... could this actually cause issues when it comes to trying to get pregnant??? 🤷 😕

Jerry Booth10 said:The thing is, most STIs don't present any symptoms at all, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. I personally had no idea I was carrying Ureaplasma until my lab results came back, because I felt completely fine. Based on what you're saying, it sounds like there's no point in even getting a Pap test if you aren't feeling anything—implying you're perfectly healthy—which we know is a dangerous misconception. Almost no STI shows symptoms, with the exception of things like Candida, where you actually deal with itching. Sometimes even HPV stays completely silent while you're unknowingly passing it on. And don't even get me started on Chlamydia; the same logic applies to Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, Gardnerella, and the rest of them.

You’re absolutely spot on that most of these things are asymptomatic, but I have to disagree regarding Gardnerella. That specific issue produces a fishy odor that is just awful, no matter how much you wash. Honestly, I don't think even industrial-strength bleach 🤣 would touch it. It’s very noticeable when you’re sitting next to someone dealing with it. I'm speaking from experience here; I never noticed that particular scent in other women until I went through it myself. Since then, I can sit next to a woman and immediately think, "Wow, something's definitely wrong." Because of all this, I've banned myself from using Always pads or those other plastic-heavy brands. I dealt with issues for a few months right after my period ended. My gynecologist told me straight away it was likely caused by the pads, though I couldn't pinpoint which ones at the time since I had about twelve different brands in my bathroom cabinet. Now, I strictly use the ones without the plastic mesh lining, and I haven't had a single recurrence since.

Not starting a new thread, I'll just ask here. Two weeks after my period, I had this brown discharge last Saturday that lasted for one day. Usually, if I get discharge like that, it happens right before my period starts... I've never had it mid-cycle like this before. I've been trying to call my OB-GYN all day but can't get through, so I'm asking here. I have mild PCOS... could that be it, or is it something else?🤷

After my period ends, I always get another day or two of this brown discharge. It’s been happening since before my pregnancy and hasn't changed since🤷 I figure it's nothing to worry about, especially since I mentioned it to my OB-GYN and they didn't even blink an eye

I also get that discharge for two days after my period, but what caught me off guard was having it two weeks after my cycle ended... first time it's ever happened.

It can also show up during ovulation.

I’ve been seeing this dark brown discharge during ovulation for the last 3 or 4 cycles. Never happened before! Mind you, I’ve been dealing with major issues with bacteria in my cervix for two years now. I’m honestly worried it might actually be linked to the bacteria rather than just being an ovulation thing, so ladies—get those swabs done!

So, I’ve got this little situation going on... I had my period from November 21st through the 29th, but now this brownish discharge has suddenly shown up. It looks kind of like chocolate color, and honestly, it's been happening for a few days already. Just to give some context, I’m currently on Diane and dealing with PCOS. I actually went to schedule an appointment with my gynecologist today, but I ended up missing it because this whole discharge thing happened out of nowhere.

So, here’s the situation. My girlfriend and I have a pretty regular sex life, and everything has been fine until recently. She started noticing this thick white discharge—it was actually kind of painful, and the taste is weird (pretty sure of that, too). Her mom works in a lab, so she had some blood and urine tests done. Turns out her white blood cell count is through the roof, plus there's that thick white discharge and some discharge showing up in her urine. Her primary doctor is telling her to see a gynecologist, but then the gynecologist is basically saying, "Go back to your GP." That’s just how our healthcare system works, I guess. We live in a small town, too, so there isn't much where we can turn. She just turned legal, so she doesn't really want to bring this up to her mom. She thinks it might be some kind of uterine infection; she says it doesn't feel like her bladder, but more like her uterus. Anyway, I’m looking for some professional opinions from you guys on what this could be and if there are any lasting consequences... by the way, she thinks she might have caught it when I'm being intimate with her, but I’m super strict about hygiene. When we're home, I always wash my hands, like, multiple times. And if we're out and about, 😁 I carry wet wipes. So, I don't think it's because of that, unless maybe those wipes aren't as reliable as I thought? I clean up really thoroughly. I seriously don't want to be the reason her health is messed up. Any serious help would be appreciated, thanks...

So what did she tell Mom? Why is there blood and why are they testing her urine?

I guess elevated white blood cell counts in urine point to inflammation, maybe bacterial. No, it doesn't necessarily have to be a gynecological issue; it could be a bladder infection, kidney issues, or something similar. What was her PAP test result? Has she ever had swabs done at the OB-GYN?

Thick white discharge—if it's cottage cheese-like—could be a Candida yeast infection, especially if there's itching or burning. Then again, it might just be normal discharge, since some women always have more than others. It could also be bacterial vaginosis if there's an unpleasant odor.

Unfortunately, nobody here can say for sure what it means. Maybe her primary care doctor should look at the results and write a referral to a specialist.

You’re going to have to fight a little harder for yourself; that’s just how things work in this crazy country.😠She should go to her doctor, and if he tells the board she needs a change, the gynecologist has to take her. She needs to complain about the pain. In my experience, some women deal with weak immune systems while breastfeeding, and that’s when you pick stuff up. Basically, she needs to push for it. They see me without a referral if it’s an emergency, and if it’s an infection, it could spread, so every single one needs treatment. Some bacteria can actually damage the fallopian tubes and cause infertility... I don't want to scare anyone, but I look out for my own health.☕

If you already had an appointment lined up, why didn't you just go? Even if it's just to ask her about the discharge instead of typing away on a forum,😛 she would surely be able to give you much better advice.

Hello everyone🙂
I’ve been sexually active with my boyfriend, and my period is consistently late. Even back when I was a virgin, it would be delayed by at least four or five days...
I am quite worried.😢(
We use protection most of the time, though not always... he has never actually finished inside me while we are using protection. He usually pulls out in time, only finishing about 10 seconds later. This month, however, I am nearly two weeks late. I don't have any typical pregnancy symptoms, yet the fear persists. It happened last month too—after intercourse, my period was about three weeks late before finally arriving. Currently, I am only experiencing white discharge and some minor pains in my lower abdomen. Could this be an indication that my period is imminent?
Please help me; answering this question is very important to me.🙂)
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

How on earth can you be late every single time? 😕
How on earth did you figure out that your cycle actually runs about 4 or 5 days longer than you thought? Like, instead of the standard 28 days, it’s more like 32 or 33?
And it was always another four days away. You know, like 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48... and then in a few years, would it only happen once a year?

Pick up a test at the pharmacy.
b) Off to the gynecologist
Look, we don't exactly have any fortune tellers, psychics, or oracle prophets hanging around here on this forum. If anyone actually *does* have those skills, please, reach out and let me know!

It’s always late... because even I have no idea when it will actually arrive. Sometimes it's delayed by four or five days, other times it’s two or three weeks. Who can say?😢Is this meant to be an expression? Or perhaps a silent plea for assistance? It remains unclear.😕🤷😠 I honestly have no idea either, and even my appointments with the gynecologist aren't yielding any results! But thank you for the advice.🙂🙂

I mean, seriously, how can you even think about skipping out on seeing a gynecologist?? My goodness, we're talking about your own health here. Especially if you've always dealt with irregular periods...
