cosmicgardener36 said:Candida is the fungus most commonly responsible for infections, though smaller amounts live in your gut naturally. Symptoms usually involve increased discharge, redness, and itching. An infection typically hits when your immune system takes a hit, but it can also pop up after a round of antibiotics, while on birth control, during pregnancy, or—in about two-thirds of cases—through sexual intercourse. Most people just use Canesten or Plymicol, maybe some vaginal suppositories plus a cream, and it clears up in a few days.
While you're treating it, it might be a good idea to cut out sugar and stick to yogurt with LGG or Acidofil. You can also pick up Lactogyn tablets at any pharmacy to help strengthen your vaginal flora. It’s also probably best to avoid tight clothes, thongs, or synthetic underwear; cotton is better so your skin can actually breathe. I'd suggest skipping those various washing gels and just using lukewarm water instead, and definitely stay away from pantyliners.
Obviously, you should avoid sex during treatment. Also, make sure to dry off thoroughly after showering, because moisture is basically an invitation for yeast to thrive.
I've also heard that tea tree oil is really helpful when fighting Candida, but you have to be careful with it since it can be irritating to the skin. You should probably dilute it with a base oil before using it.

Excuse me?!?!?!?!??! 😲 I honestly can't function without them; I just end up sleeping through the day. My discharge has increased so much lately, and I absolutely cannot stand that constant "wet feeling" in my underwear. 🤣

I’ve been panicking for the last few days. I'm also dealing with heavy discharge, though it looks normal and doesn't smell anything unusual.

Now, this uncomfortable sensation started right after sex. We used some condoms we hadn't tried before—could that be the cause?

By the following evening, it started itching a little, then turned into a stinging sensation. It’s gone now, but honestly, I'm terrified.

My gynecologist can't see me until next week, and I feel like I'm going to die from anxiety waiting until then.

Can someone please say something to calm me down?

We’ve been trying to treat this, but clearly, it hasn't worked. Honestly, it felt like we were finally making some headway a few times recently, but back to square one. I’m starting the Lactogyn regimen again, so let's see how things settle after a month of therapy. We'll see if my body actually decides to cooperate this time.

It really isn't anything to fear, as I went through the exact same thing myself. Just make sure to see a doctor at your earliest opportunity, get some vaginal wipes, and follow their treatment plan.👍

p.s.—and by "earliest opportunity," I don't mean scheduling something for a month from now; I mean call them, explain what you're feeling, and let them know it's urgent. Please, try not to let the panic take over.🙂

I need to get my period, and I always get discharge beforehand, but this time it's way heavier than usual. I'm hoping that’s actually why it hasn't shown up yet...

Anyway, I'll try calling my OB-GYN tomorrow to see if she can squeeze me in. If not, then first thing Monday morning...

Even though the discharge has slowed down now, it might stop completely by tomorrow.🤷

Regardless, you should definitely go see her, if only to get a professional opinion. It might taper off, but there is always that possibility of it returning or even getting worse later on.... 🤷
It certainly doesn't hurt to ask. 👍

Here are some words of comfort.
I don't even know where to start with this one, honestly. I was just sitting here thinking about how much everything seems to be spiraling lately, and then this thought hit me—it’s like we’re all just collectively losing our grip on reality, isn't it? Or maybe it's just me. I guess I might be overthinking things, but you can't deny that vibe. It feels like everything is just... slippery. Unstable. Like trying to walk on ice in cheap flip-flops. You think you have a handle on things, and then—bam—you're sliding sideways and wondering what went wrong. Anyway, I'm probably just rambling now. My bad.😠 Either you've got Candida, or you don't. I guess there's really no middle ground when it comes to this stuff, right? It’s like one of those "all or nothing" situations that just leaves you feeling completely off balance. Honestly, dealing with it can be such a massive headache—it feels like everything is constantly fighting against you. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but it feels pretty black and white once you start noticing the symptoms. Just one or the other.
Honestly, I used to get so irritated by how condoms would mess with my pH—it was such a constant annoyance. If you’re dealing with that, you really need to hunt down a specific type of condom that actually works for your body instead of just grabbing whatever is on sale at the drugstore. Or, look, once you're done, maybe try using some natural vaginal soothing gels as a way to calm everything down. For instance, you can use Femigel after sex to help prevent any fungal issues—or as my guy so eloquently puts it, to ward off the "fungi."

What does "another kind of condom" even mean? Like a different Durex brand or something?

Even the doctor is on vacation. She’s back Monday, which means I won't see her until then. Hopefully I don't get hit with a flare-up before then, though I wouldn't hold my breath...

Honestly, maybe try looking for a brand that doesn't have spermicide coated on them—you know, something more natural or basic (even sticking with Durex might work if you find the right one).
It took me forever to actually figure out which ones didn't mess me up, and even then, I feel like I have to switch things up every once in a while to stay comfortable.

But what if it does happen anyway? There isn't much you can control in that situation. You should just head over to the clinic, explain exactly what's going on, and hopefully the staff there can offer some guidance or at least a little advice to help you get through it.👍

What is actually causing this? I've read that it can show up with fungal infections, usually involving itching and stinging, but all I'm getting is discharge—even though I've been dealing with abdominal and ovarian pain for a while now... My gynecologist is unavailable (again) and I am losing my mind here..

It has always been this way for me... just that constant, endless discharge, even though I don't have any other issues to speak of. My tests from the doctor came back fine, and my swabs were clear too... it’s honestly quite frustrating. The only thing is that I occasionally get sharp pains in my ovaries right in the middle of my cycle, and my periods are absolutely brutal, so I have to rely on painkillers to get through them.

Alright, at least someone else is going through this... mine showed up for the first time today. I usually deal with stuff, but nothing quite like this... and all my tests come back fine from the last time I actually felt okay.

For me, it fluctuates occasionally—sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more—but it’s always there... and all my searches have been coming up fine🤷

If you are dealing with a yeast infection, you will certainly know it because the itching is unmistakable; however, a thick, cottage cheese-like discharge is absolutely not normal, even if it happens frequently. Some women experience more intense symptoms than others, but that specific texture should never be the standard! (Good grief, I realize how incredibly gross that sounds 😂)
Just give it a day or two to see if things resolve themselves, if the consistency shifts, or if the itching begins to take hold.
My rule of thumb is simple: if it's case one, move along; if it's case two, go see a gynecologist; and if it's case three, just go buy some Canesten.

It doesn't itch right now, and I really hope it stays that way... but thanks. If this keeps up, I'm sprinting straight to the doctor.

When I’m dealing with a yeast infection, things get incredibly textured—it’s just not a great feeling. On the first day, there isn't even any itching, but by day two, the itch becomes absolutely unbearable...
For fungal issues, you can pick up some Canesten vaginal cream over the counter without needing a prescription...
