Sounds like Gardnerella to me. You should've hit up the gynecologist right away—if you’re dealing with a weird smell and green discharge, just go immediately. Don't wait for things to get worse next time.

Honestly, I’m kicking myself right now for not just heading in on the very first day instead of sitting here torturing myself with all these "what ifs," though I suppose I’ll finally get it sorted this Monday, and surely waiting a couple of days isn't going to change the outcome much... but still, what exactly is Gardnerella, how is it typically treated, and does anyone here have any personal experience with it? I’m about to dive headfirst into a massive Google search...
thanks so much for getting back to me 🙂

Maybe do a quick Google search, there's also this thread about it.

But hey, I'm just guessing, maybe you've got something else going on. 🤷 Either way, definitely go see a gynecologist.

Sometimes my discharge looks greenish, but it’s mostly yellowish. It only gets almost transparent during ovulation. Otherwise, the "mucus" is a textbook example of how consistency should change throughout a cycle—you can clearly see the phases, from when there's plenty to the day it's practically gone. Usually, it stays yellowish; at least that's how it looks on my underwear, and it darkens slightly once it dries. Every single period has been regular, and my doctor says everything is fine—every time. She tells us we're all different and that what I'm experiencing might be normal since it's been my baseline since I was thirteen...

The scents shift too. Often it’s an undefined but pleasant smell, yet quite frequently it can get unpleasant... again, the same answer from the doctor.

Of course, hygiene is on point. I have soap, but I rarely use it—just washing with warm water.

So, now... 🙂

Green discharge isn't normal. Not ever, regardless of where you are in your cycle.

Hey ladies 👋

Hmm... I'm kind of uncomfortable even bringing this up to a doctor, so I figured I'd just... I don't even know how to put this. Basically, I've got this constant yellow vaginal discharge—it doesn't matter if I wipe thoroughly after using the bathroom, by the time I head back to the restroom later, it's all yellow again. Same thing when I go number two—I'll wipe myself clean, but then I come back later and my underwear is a mess. No matter how well I wipe, my damn panties always end up dirty. 🙂 I have no clue why. Anyone else dealing with something similar? Thanks. 🙄

Thick yellow discharge is usually a telltale sign of a bacterial infection. You’re going to need to head to a gynecologist to get some swabs done so they can actually figure out what’s going on and start you on the right treatment. There is absolutely no reason to feel awkward about asking a doctor questions regarding your own body. Providing answers to those kinds of concerns and helping you get better is literally what they are paid to do.

So I’ve got this issue with heavy discharge during sex :S I've been seeing this guy for about four months now, but this just started happening recently—not every single time, but most of the time... Basically, once we start, after like five minutes everything just gets soaked, haha, but seriously, it actually turns bluish, and then we have to stop, maybe even a couple of times, to clean up and stuff... I mean, I always have a little bit of discharge and I'm pretty used to dealing with that 😁 But when it starts turning blue, it makes things super awkward and honestly just sucks... Btw, I never had these issues with guys before this, so it's all really weird to me and I have no clue what's going on... Also, I've been on Diane 35 for two years because my periods are irregular, heavy, and painful (my doctor prescribed it)...

...nothing really makes sense to me...😢🙄
...but, I was thinking... since I already mentioned this hasn't happened with my partners before, and it also wasn't a thing where they'd finish inside, but now we do it all the time... so I was wondering if maybe it's just, like, leftover fluids staying inside and then manifesting like that next time🙄 ...I have no clue, hehehe 🙂

I’ve been on Yasmin for five years now. Before, I used to deal with this discharge—sometimes yellowish, sometimes greenish 😛 (and my Pap smear was always totally fine). That was until I found out I had Candida. Since then, I’ve overhauled my diet; I’m currently mixing blood type nutrition with an alkaline diet. I’ve also been drinking this specific tea (I’ll shoot you a message if you want to know which one it is—I’ve mentioned it a few times already, so I don't want it to seem like I'm just trying to sell you something). It’s worked. For about six months now, I haven't had any of those issues or any other feminine problems, even though I'm still taking the pills.

Lately, I’ve been dealing with these constant little spots on my underwear between periods, just this weird discharge. The thing is, whenever I have a bowel movement, it seems to ramp up. It’s like the physical strain actually triggers it. It shows up as this brownish-red color. And before anyone asks—no, it’s not anal, and it’s definitely not hemorrhoids. I’m honestly stumped. I went to see my OB-GYN a while back and they diagnosed me with Ureaplasma, so I took some pills for that. Has anyone else dealt with something similar?

So, I guess it’s pretty normal for things to feel more intense or heavy while you're actually on the toilet, if you know what I mean. For me, my period flow definitely seems to pick up right then. It probably just comes down to the pressure from... well, doing your business, pressing against the uterus or the vagina or whatever it is, which I suppose just pushes more blood out.🤷
And honestly, I deal with those little spots of blood in my discharge between periods too. It usually happens most often right around ovulation time.

Thanks for the reply 🙂 It’s honestly super weird to me because I don't even have my period right now, but then when I went to the bathroom, I realized that discharge was actually leaking out.

So, I went to the bathroom earlier and was absolutely horrified to see this thick discharge literally hanging out of my vagina. It sounds disgusting, and honestly, it looks even worse. It hadn't even fully come out yet; it was just right there at the opening, so I had to wipe it away with some paper.
Has anyone else dealt with something like this??? It’s sticky, stretchy, and reminds me of that stuff you blow out of your nose when you have a bad cold—except this is clear and white.

If it's clear and stretchy like egg whites, then you're probably just ovulating.
But if there's any actual color to it, then you're looking at an infection.
At least you'll know when you're ovulating.😍
How old are you?

Yesterday things really kicked off—I woke up in the morning and realized my panties were completely soaked. It was this clear, odorless discharge, and when I took a closer look, I noticed my labia were super swollen. Every time I move, I can feel this weird, drafty sensation, almost like something is just constantly leaking out of me. It’s still going on, too! Should I head to the doctor? Honestly, the discharge isn't quite as heavy now, but the pain and burning have actually started getting much worse.

I'm 24. Hmm... my period just ended a few days ago. The discharge matches exactly what you described, but my lower abdomen is hurting too. There's no smell, though. Do infections usually come with an odor?

What kind of discharge are we talking about with an HPV infection? I’m not even asking about the low-risk strains—I already know those just cause warts. I mean the high-risk ones that actually mess with the cervix. Do those types cause any specific discharge or other symptoms?

Seriously?😲 Mine is always opaque during ovulation. Like, super thick—I can't call it "clear" at all. It's usually just white.🤷

I found this link about managing your cycle through nutrition—it’s basically a deep dive into how what you eat can actually influence those hormonal shifts we all deal with. It’s pretty interesting stuff if you're looking for ways to feel a little less like a walking thunderstorm once a month. Basically, it breaks down which nutrients help stabilize things and which ones might be making the whole process more chaotic than it needs to be. Definitely worth a read if you want to get ahead of the curve.
So, the doctor finally weighed in on one of the questions and cleared things up a bit.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you're scouring the internet for "natural ways to trigger ovulation," please—take a breath. I spent way too much time falling down those rabbit holes myself, thinking some obscure herbal tea or a specific lifestyle tweak was going to be my magic ticket. It’s exhausting, really. The link you shared basically lays out the standard playbook: diet, stress management, and certain supplements. And look, there’s nothing wrong with eating more greens or trying to chill out—though "just relaxing" is probably the most useless advice ever given to someone actually struggling with fertility. It’s like telling someone in a thunderstorm to just stay dry. They mention things like checking your basal body temperature and keeping an eye on cervical mucus. That part is actually useful—it’s basic biology, not magic. If you aren't tracking those markers, you're basically flying blind. Then they get into the supplements—folic acid, maybe some vitamins to support hormone balance. Most of that is solid, standard stuff you'd find at any pharmacy or even just a high-end health food store like Whole Foods. But let's be real for a second—there is a massive difference between "supporting your body" and "fixing a hormonal imbalance." Supplements can help fill gaps, sure, but if there's an underlying issue, you're just throwing expensive vitamins at a problem that needs actual medical intervention. If you're serious about this, don't just rely on a blog post or some wellness guru's advice. Talk to a specialist. Get the bloodwork done. There’s no shame in needing a little more than just a change in diet to get things moving. Just my two cents.

Here, take a look at this—and hey, Karen Garcia32, if you're actually that freaked out, maybe just go see a gynecologist.

I honestly thought it was all just some brownish, yellowish, or greenish mess. I mean, white is usually fine, but if it starts looking like cottage cheese, then you're definitely dealing with some kind of fungus—and at that point, it isn’t just about the discharge anymore. You start getting the itching, the stinging, and all that other fun stuff too.

Sad, I also saw you mentioned you're in pain—and that your lips are swollen too—so seriously, just go see a gynecologist. Karen Garcia32, let us know what they say.
