shadowwolf87 said:Hey there. I’m dealing with something pretty similar and honestly just wanted to grab some advice before I go see my OB-GYN... For a few months now, I've been getting this irregular yellow discharge—the color isn't even consistent and the amount fluctuates all over the place. There's this unpleasant smell too, but I've been scrolling through old posts looking for anything similar and I can't find a match... it’s not sweet, it’s not sour... it’s just really strong. I have no clue... does anyone have any ideas what this could actually be?!

Is it safe to use Canesten cream without worrying about weird side effects? Because honestly, everything makes me feel like it's a yeast infection...

And how can you be so sure it’s a fungal infection? Did you actually go see a gynecologist?

To me, yellow discharge with a strong odor doesn't really sound like a yeast infection. You should go get checked out to find out what's actually going on.

So, I’ve got my appointment coming up next week... and honestly? I’m pretty convinced it’s some kind of yeast infection. I did a little deep dive online—not that I’m an expert or anything, obviously, you really need a doctor to confirm this stuff—but everywhere I looked that mentioned a fungal issue, they kept talking about this white, cheesy discharge. And yeah... that is exactly what I’m dealing with right now. It used to be more yellowish, but now it’s turned totally white and has this super unpleasant smell... the weird part is, there’s zero itching or stinging, so I’m just sitting here completely confused 😕

Does anyone else get that sensation where something just leaks out—warm, almost like you’ve suddenly started your period, but it’s actually just discharge? :/

I'm 21 and in a long-term relationship. Our sex life has always been fine—no issues whatsoever until recently. My last period was painful and accompanied by an abnormally heavy, white, cheesy discharge. I've dealt with discharge before, but this time it was excessive. Honestly, it was alarming. By the next day, I started feeling a burning sensation, itching, and some mild lower abdominal pain. About six months ago, I had Candida, but I managed to get it under control with treatment. Is it possible that Candida is resurfacing, or am I looking at something else entirely?

If you're seeing cheesy discharge, it’s probably Candida. It makes sense that sex hurts because the fungus just irritates everything up there.

Still, I'd say go see a doctor, especially since you mentioned those lower stomach pains. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

P.S. If it is Candida, check if your guy has any white spots or redness on his tip. If he does, he needs treatment too.

I’ve been dealing with these dull pains in my pelvic area for a few days now. It feels like this constant squeezing and releasing sensation... Sometimes the pain gets sharper overnight..
On top of that, I’ve had this increased white-yellowish discharge for a few days too, and it stings and itches..
I mean, I’ve dealt with infections before, but my uterus has never hurt quite like this..
Honestly, the fear is even worse because I’ve had 3 miscarriages, and I’ve had to have a D&C every single time.

I know I need to see a gynecologist. That’s what I’m planning to do in the next few days, but still, I was wondering if any of you have experienced this stinging, the discharge, and uterine pain all at once?

Haha, honestly, it happens to me all the time xD :/

Ugh, I have this heavy discharge issue that has been driving me crazy for a long, long time. I went to my OB-GYN and she suggested using Linex Lady vaginal suppositories. She told me to use them twice a week, but they haven't done a single thing to help. 😢
What do you guys recommend? 🙂

I was browsing and accidentally clicked over to the pregnancy sub-forum, specifically the thread about what the mucus plug looks like. I figured it would be better to just copy my post here instead.

I’m not pregnant, but while I was showering just now and turned down to rinse off, something popped out that looks exactly like that "mucus plug" you all talk about. I have no idea what it is—I've never experienced anything like this before, and honestly, seeing it was quite a shock. It looked pretty gross... kind of slimy and stretchy, similar to the picture. I've also had some occasional itching down there over the last few days, so maybe it's some kind of inflammation? About two weeks ago, I noticed some painful, red bumps that looked like pimples, and my first thought was definitely herpes. However, my gynecologist was stumped, and the dermatologist also suggested it might just be folliculitis... who knows. Anyway, those bumps have cleared up, but I'm still going to get tested for STIs and I'm waiting on my Pap test results. I'm certain I picked something up, but this thing that just came out has me really confused. Does anyone know what this could be, considering I'm not pregnant...? 😕

What if a girl hasn't even had sex, but she's still getting this thick, white discharge with a nasty smell?

That’s what I’m dealing with right now. Since I’m 17, I’d need to ask my mom to take me to the gynecologist, but she isn't back from work yet. I only just noticed the discharge and started panicking. For now, I'm just asking for some info so I know what to expect.

Also, because we've been without hot water, I haven't really been able to wash properly for two weeks.

They probably moved you over to the pregnancy section because cervical mucus tends to discharge right before labor—so, honestly, your situation likely has nothing to do with that. It’s perfectly normal for things to come out looking stretchy or even a bit "globby" during ovulation every now and then. And please, don't go running to the doctors for every little thing. You're only going to scare yourself more if you keep trying to diagnose yourself with every single illness you stumble upon online. 😉

If you haven't had any sexual intercourse recently and you're noticing this cheesy discharge—honestly, it’s perfectly normal, and I really think those two things can exist independently of one another. It is entirely possible that you're just dealing with a standard case of Candida.
I was thinking about asking my mom to take me to the gynecologist—since I’m only 17, I guess she still needs to make those calls—but she hasn't even made it home from work yet. To make matters worse, I just noticed this discharge and, honestly, I’ve started panicking a little bit. For now, I’m just asking purely for informational purposes, I suppose... just trying to figure out what this could possibly be so I can at least feel somewhat prepared for when I actually talk to a doctor.

😬

Well, here we go. I suppose it’s time to begin. Let's see what this actually looks like once the gears start turning—though, knowing my luck, things might get complicated before we even settle into a rhythm. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, shall we?

It was just this thick, white discharge—something I only noticed quite suddenly, out of nowhere, I suppose.
Is it really that urgent to go see the gynecologist? I mean, I guess it depends on what’s going on—but if you're asking me, it feels like one of those things where maybe you should just weigh your options first. Not that I'm saying don't go, obviously—just, you know, if it isn't an emergency, there's usually no need to rush out the door in a panic.
I suppose you’d also be sitting around waiting for your mother to drive you to the gynecologist—even though you didn't bother making an appointment yourself—despite the fact that you're seventeen. Honestly, at your age, you could easily just go on your own, much like plenty of younger girls do without any drama.

Well, due to a complete lack of hot water, I haven't actually washed myself in two weeks—not that anyone asked.

Look, could you please just stop trolling? Seriously. 😠

Got it. I'm ready to go. Just send over the posts whenever you're set.

Alright, let's get this show on the road. What have we got?

I just suddenly noticed this thick white discharge out of nowhere.
Is it really that urgent to rush to the gynecologist?
Honestly, I’d probably end up waiting for my mom to drive me to the gynecologist even if I hadn't made an appointment ahead of time. But let's be real—you're 17. At that age, you can totally just show up on your own, just like plenty of younger girls do without making a whole production out of it.

I just got back from the West Side. I asked my mom to pick something up for me, but she told me there's no way I'm getting anything unless I get pregnant first. Apparently, they literally taped a notice to our front door about it.

Seriously, man, give the trolling a rest. 😠

I'm not trolling!

I’d be super grateful if anyone could help me out with this—I’ve been dealing with this discharge for a while now, but it’s not like that typical white stuff; there’s no color and it doesn't smell. Just to clarify, I’ve been to the gynecologist maybe a hundred times and done every single test under the sun—everything comes back perfectly fine. My doctor keeps telling me it’s totally normal, even though it really bugs me. Sometimes it's light, sometimes it's enough that I feel like I've actually peed myself. Does anyone have any advice? Maybe a specific tea, a med, or something else that helps? And what could be causing this? Is it possible that because my feet are always freezing, it somehow triggers this kind of discharge?

I don't quite grasp what you all mean by "lumpy"... personally, I experience more of a "clumpy" sensation—though, frankly, I have no clue what the texture is actually supposed to be like. Also, one question that might be out of place here—I've noticed a little bit of bleeding during oral sex over the last few times. I'm not sure if that's happening because things are getting a bit too aggressive, or if there's some other underlying cause at play?

Ladies, let me tell you something—damn it! Some women just have discharge, plain and simple. I mean, if nothing hurts, nothing burns, there's no itching, no weird smell, and no strange color, and you've already hit up the gynecologist a few times only to be told everything is fine... then that’s just how your body works. It produces discharge. That's it.
Just wear a liner and don't even think about skipping the condom when you're with guys.
And look, if you *do* have any of those symptoms, and the guy is all like, "MY GOD, I HAVEN'T SLEPT WITH ANYONE ELSE!"—that doesn't mean he hasn't picked something up or isn't carrying something. Don't be clueless; put your health first so you don't end up dealing with some massive mess later on.
Plus, every woman should probably see a gynecologist at least once a year starting from when she's 16 or 17. Prevention is half the battle.

I've been dealing with some yellow discharge for about 4 or 5 days now, and at times it seems a bit slimy. I was wondering if this could be a reaction to the colposcopy I had done last week, or if it might be something else entirely?? 😕 My period isn't due until the beginning of the month...

Sometimes I get some discharge, but it’s usually pretty normal—kind of a yellowish color.
About two days ago, things started itching, and now the discharge is this weird yellowish-green shade. It’s still itching, too—but more like an internal itch rather than just on the surface. I’m trying my best to ignore it because if I scratch, my labia gets all swollen and sore.🤦
My gynecologist is only in on Wednesdays, and even then, it's just a super short appointment, and by the time the itching actually kicked in, it was already too late to catch him.
I didn't want to go out and buy any vaginal suppositories since I'm due for my period this Saturday, and I wouldn't be able to finish a full course of treatment anyway...
Yesterday, I picked up some baby powder and dusted a bit on there—honestly, it seems to be helping for now. The itching isn't as bad; it's manageable.
Is that even okay to do?🤷

Honestly, that yellowish-green discharge sounds serious, and maybe you shouldn't wait to address it. Since you're expecting your period tomorrow, there isn't much you can do until that passes. Personally, I find that my period actually helps ease the itching. I've never used baby powder myself, so I'm not sure if it's truly helping the underlying issue. Maybe just apply Canesten externally for two or three days, and then head straight to the doctor once your period is over. You should probably wait at least two days after your last application before seeing the specialist so they can get an accurate reading.

I honestly think she shouldn't apply anything right now. If she uses Canesten and starts applying creams before the OBGYN takes a swab, the results could come back false negative.

To me, this looks more like a bacterial infection. That isn't something that just clears up on its own, and creams aren't going to fix it either; she needs to see an OBGYN and get swabs done. If it were actually yeast, the discharge would be yellowish-white and clumpy, which would make using Canesten make sense. Otherwise, it's better to leave it alone—maybe use some calendula ointment or something similar externally just to stop the itching and irritation on the skin.

I agree that bacteria might be the issue here, but she still has to survive those five days of her period. My doctor told me that you can have a swab taken after I hadn't applied anything for two days. It's not like Canesten is an antibiotic, so it shouldn't give a misleading result on the test. Though, I just remembered there is this Italian cream for intimate areas—I think it’s called Activo3. That might be good just to help ease the itching while she waits.
