You really need to get a proper culture done. I mean a real one—where they take a swab, put it on a medium, and wait days to see what actually grows and which meds it responds to. If you're dealing with a bacterial infection, all those heavy-duty vaginal washes you've been using are a waste of time. You’ll need an antibiotic.

I’m going to call her this week—today is my last day of my period and the burning is just insane 😢 This has to stop. I can't deal with this anymore; I've been dealing with this intense burning almost every single day for nearly a year now. There were times I actually cried because the stinging was so bad.

I’m dealing with an issue regarding increased discharge; it’s white and has a somewhat thick consistency.
It occasionally gives off an unpleasant odor. It also tends to cause a stinging sensation whenever I urinate.
I’ve dealt with yeast infections before and treated them using Canesten vaginal suppositories and ointments—my partner used the ointment too, and that cleared things up.
But then this persistent discharge started showing up.🤷
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Just trying to figure it out while I wait for my appointment with the gynecologist.

Good day, everyone. I’m 15 years old and haven't started my period yet. However, yesterday when I went to the bathroom, I noticed a small pink spot on my underwear. When I wiped after urinating, there was also some light red discharge—this happened twice, about an hour apart. I’ve been searching online, but most sites suggest this happens during pregnancy, which obviously isn't possible for me since I haven't had sexual intercourse. I'm feeling quite anxious about it! Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could this be some kind of infection?

Hi everyone. I’ve run into a bit of an issue and would really appreciate your perspective. I’m currently dealing with some hormonal imbalances involving my thyroid and ovaries—I'm on a specific treatment plan for it right now. Lately, I’ve noticed occasional traces of blood during my period. I went to see my gynecologist, and they mentioned this could be a direct result of the hormonal fluctuations. Just to clarify, I haven't been sexually active, and all my other recent screenings and swabs came back perfectly fine. Is there any reason for me to be worried here? Thanks.

Honestly, you’re probably just about to get your first period, and this is just your body giving you a heads-up. 😉 Just grab a pad and keep one handy so you don't get caught off guard.

What’s the deal with white discharge that occasionally has an odor?? And honestly, there's so much of it that I sometimes have to change my underwear😕

I'm having my period normally and I haven't had any sexual intercourse!

It could potentially be bacterial vaginosis, which is often triggered by Gardnerella vaginalis. If you're looking for more detailed information on that, you can find a breakdown right here: http://www.stetoskop.info/index.php/...ickness.htm?b9

I heard from a colleague—who likely heard it from someone else, or perhaps she’s just hiding her own experience 😁—that this sometimes clears up on its own. Is that actually possible, given that the standard treatment involves pills?

Honestly, it's hard to say for sure. Usually, the protocol involves vaginal metronidazole suppositories along with oral metronidazole for about 7 or 14 days—I can't recall the exact duration off the top of my head. Regardless, it really ought to be treated properly either way.

Is that actually dangerous?? It sounds pretty scary 😲
Could it cause infertility or something serious like that? 😲

I was reading online that white discharge is totally normal right before or after your period—like during ovulation, right? How am I supposed to tell the difference?? What if it's just that? 🤷

And one more thing... should I actually go see a gynecologist for this, or is it enough to just get a swab sent off to a lab for testing?

Honestly, the smartest move you could make right now would be to head over to the gynecologist for a full check-up. It’s probably the most sensible way to handle this.

"We aren't just talking about an uncomfortable or painful disruption of the normal vaginal flora here—this is a classic inflammatory process."

Two months ago, I went to see my OB-GYN. My Pap smear came back clear, but they did find a Candida infection, and an ultrasound showed I have PCOS, which apparently makes getting pregnant pretty difficult. My boyfriend and I haven't been using protection, so we aren't really trying to avoid pregnancy. Based on how last month went, I was supposed to start my period about a week ago. But, you know how it is—some months it just doesn't show up. Last Friday, I noticed some brownish discharge, then the same thing happened on Monday. Then, three days ago, I noticed a little bit of light pink blood when I wiped after using the bathroom. My urine looks totally normal, so I don't think it's my actual period. I've also been seeing spots on my liner throughout the day. I can't make it to the doctor right now, so I'm wondering if anyone here has dealt with this or has any insight. I just took a pregnancy test, and it only showed one line... I guess I'll wait and try again in the morning. I'm feeling a bit lost. The Pap test was fine, but I'm honestly pretty scared. Please let me know if you have any advice.

Forgive me for starting a new thread here, but it seems like nobody is really engaging with the topic regarding check-ups...
About three or four weeks ago, I started noticing this yellowish discharge accompanied by a stinging sensation. Since it was right during the holidays, I just applied some Canesten externally, which helped soothe the redness and the external symptoms. In the meantime, I decided to switch gynecologists—though I haven't actually had my appointment yet—and it took about ten days to get everything confirmed. While I was waiting on that, all the symptoms came rushing back, so I called the clinic
today. It turns out they can't fit me in for an appointment for another three months. I know this isn't something to mess around with, but I'm honestly at a loss. Unfortunately, seeing someone privately just isn't an option for me right now due to my budget. How dangerous is it to wait that long? Is there anything available over the counter? 🕺

Your primary care doctor can write you a prescription for Fluconazole, an oral antifungal, if they think it’s the right move for you.

They say this is used for Candida, but since I’ve dealt with that before, I’m pretty sure this isn't it. Is it okay for a GP to prescribe something else, or is it dangerous to just guess at this point? Maybe it's not even related, but my lower abdomen is already starting to ache a little bit. I really don't know what to do... 🤷

So, you’ve got discharge plus a positive reaction to Canesten, which pretty much screams fungal infection... and Fluconazole is usually super effective for that. On the flip side, it’s not exactly without side effects, and you definitely shouldn't touch it if there's any liver or kidney damage involved. How are you so certain it isn't Candida?

Honestly, I doubt your GP would even dream of prescribing Canesten vaginal suppositories without a gyno exam first. But hey, go see him and see what happens, he'll surely give you something. As for the pain, it might not even be related to the discharge—could just be your cycle, but there's no point guessing blindly. If the pain is serious, just head to the gynecologist and try to get an urgent appointment...

I guess I didn't quite make myself clear earlier. The redness has cleared up and that stinging sensation has definitely dialed back, but the discharge... it’s pretty much the same. I'm not sure how much my PMS or my period might be messing with things right now. I know it isn't Candida because when I had that, the discharge was white and cottage cheese-like, whereas this time it's thicker and kind of yellowish... so maybe it's some kind of bacteria or something else entirely...🤷
How should I go about handling this?

Of course applying some Canesten cream externally isn't going to mess with your vaginal discharge...

And based on that sequence you laid out in your first post, there's no way I can get an order placed for you before March...
