brightbear said:How big was your cyst? And how have you been feeling since the surgery—everything going okay?

It was 7 cm 😲, on my right ovary. There was also a 6 cm one on the left, but that one actually disappeared—or burst, whatever—before the surgery even happened.

Fast forward to now: two and a half months post-op, and everything is pretty much perfect. Both ovaries are working fine (for months before this, only the right one was showing any activity), my periods are perfectly regular, and I’m not dealing with any pain during my cycle—honestly, everything is great.😍 My doctor says it should stay this way, too.🙂

I'm honestly so relieved those massive cysts didn't wreck your ovaries... mine is only 2.5 cm, but I'm still incredibly anxious about it... just waiting for it to pop...🙂

Just take it easy—by tomorrow you'll have a much better idea of what's going on.😉

And here’s a bit of advice—if your OB-GYN doesn't come back to you with a concrete solution, some actual strategy for tackling this cyst, a real plan... don't waste your breath. Move on and find someone else, even if it takes a second or third opinion. Just be bold about it!👍

Let me know how it goes.

Great news!!!!😍
It finally burst (just realized today it was over 7 cm!!!!!)!!!!! Thank God, it's gone, and honestly, I didn't even feel it pop 👍. Now I just have to take Sumamed for three days because one of my ovaries is still swollen, and that’s it!
Thanks to everyone for listening—hopefully, this is the last time I'll need to post updates here!
Cheers, everyone! 😁

Awesome! 🙂 Such great news!👍
I didn't really feel much of anything either when the cyst on my left ovary popped.😉 My period was just a little more painful than usual, and that was that.
But seriously, the most infuriating part of this whole cyst saga is how doctors can't give you a straight answer on whether this is just going to happen all over again. 👎

I was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest some kind of herbal tea or perhaps something similar on a natural basis to help treat and prevent ovarian inflammation?

Can anyone describe the pain, and specifically where it hurts, when it's just pure testicular pain?

I’m going through something similar. For the last week, I’ve had this sharp, stabbing pain down below, just like my period cramps. I was expecting my cycle around then, so I figured that was the reason. But now I’m four days late—honestly, it seems like it’s late every single month—and I’m feeling those pains almost every day. I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor next week, but does anyone have any idea what this could be?

So, I finally got discharged from the hospital yesterday—was stuck there because of this massive ovarian inflammation. It’s wild because I didn't have any warning signs, no pain or anything, until one night out of nowhere, it just hit me like a freight train. I couldn't even touch my stomach; I genuinely felt like I was going to explode. Once I ended up in the ER, the tests came back looking pretty grim, and they told me I had to be admitted immediately. Turns out I've got a 5 cm cyst on my left ovary. Since I'm currently living abroad in a country where my English isn't quite up to par yet, things were a bit confusing. The doctors mentioned the cyst is filled with blood... is that basically the same thing as a water cyst?
Then they dropped the other bombshell: there's some kind of fluid buildup in my pelvic cavity. Could be blood, could be serous fluid, could be something else entirely—they honestly weren't sure. To make matters worse, I ended up in the hospital at the absolute worst possible time—right during the holidays when actual specialists are nowhere to be found.😢
I'm feeling a bit better now, though that tightness in my lower abdomen is still lingering, along with those sharp, stabbing pains. Sometimes the ache radiates down my left leg (which I assume is related), but since my labs are starting to look better, they were finally able to pull me off the IV. They sent me home with a prescription for antibiotics and strict orders to just rest.
They did warn me that we need to monitor this cyst closely to make sure it doesn't fuse to the ovary—because if that happens, my chances of getting pregnant down the road are going to be pretty slim.😢
I've got an appointment with a gynecologist next week, and man, I am really hoping this specialist actually knows what they're doing compared to the crew at the hospital.😢
Anyway, sorry for the massive rant, I guess I just needed to get this off my chest.🤣

I'm assuming it’s an endometrioma since it's filled with blood. That fluid could very well be blood itself. You actually have a dedicated thread on endometriosis where you can find more detailed information.

Thanks a million for the reply 🙂 but my appointment with the OBGYN isn't until Friday—this is going to be one hell of a long week. What do you guys think... could this be linked to why my period is basically non-existent? I mean, I only get it a couple of times a year at most.

No worries at all. We don't know for certain what triggers endometriosis, but it’s generally thought to be a mix of hormones and the immune system. Essentially, the endometrial tissue that normally lines the uterus starts growing on other pelvic organs—like the ovaries or fallopian tubes—and then reacts to the hormonal shifts during your cycle. It bleeds just like the uterine lining does during your period.

As for whether this is linked to your amenorrhea, it's hard to say for sure. It could potentially point toward a hormonal imbalance.

The way I see it, whenever a person is more sensitive in one area—whether it's the respiratory system, reproductive system, or anything else—that's usually where things start to manifest. I personally never had any issues with my reproductive health, yet now everything seems to be acting up there. But don't stress too much; just listen to your doctor and you'll be fine.

So, I woke up yesterday with this absolutely unbearable cramping in my lower left side. Ended up in the ER at Cedars-Sinai, and they told me I’ve got a clear 4 cm cyst on my ovary. Then they sent me over to UCLA. The doctor mentioned he could either handle it with hormones or go through with a vaginal procedure.
What do you guys know about those two options? This pain just won't quit.

In this country, women just seem to attract nothing but trouble. Let me tell you my story. I’m 33 years old and have two kids—my youngest is two and a half. Everything always seemed fine during my OBGYN appointments, though I frequently dealt with pain on my right side. For about the last year, I’ve been dealing with painful ovulations, or at least that's how I interpreted it. My cycle is usually pretty regular. However, my last two periods arrived early. In the third month, I actually got it a full week ahead of schedule, and the bleeding looked... suspicious. It was one of those gut feelings where you just know something isn't right. I went to see my doctor, and because he noticed my uterus looked a bit purplish and was tilted backward, he ordered an ultrasound. That's when he found some kind of fluid-filled cyst on my uterus, and told me I needed to get tumor markers checked. Well, the CA 125 marker came back at 137, when the normal limit is 35. I went back to him, but he wouldn't tell me anything! He didn't want to speculate or give me any clarity; he just told me I have to come back immediately after my next period ends and redo the marker test. Only then can he actually say something. This uncertainty is absolutely killing me. What is happening to me? I should start my period around the 25th. From what I've searched on Google, that marker is linked to ovarian cancer, but who knows what else it could be? He didn't even mention my ovaries to me. Does anyone know anything about this? Please, someone, comfort me... maybe it isn't cancer.

About seven years ago, I dealt with some pelvic inflammatory disease. Back then, I was on birth control, and once I stopped taking the pills, the infection cleared up entirely. Fast forward to now: I haven't been on any hormonal contraceptives for about six months, and I'm wondering if PID can resurface this quickly. Here’s what happened today. I was heading home from work, hopped on the light rail, and was hit by this sudden, sharp pain—mostly concentrated on my left side. Even now, three hours later, there's still a lingering, dull ache where the sharp pain was. When I went to the restroom, I noticed some grayish discharge, and while wiping, I saw a bit of spotting as well. My last period ended just a week ago. I’ve scheduled an appointment with my gynecologist, but I'm stuck waiting a month for an opening. If you think this sounds like something more serious than a minor issue, please DM me immediately with recommendations for a private specialist in Washington, D.C., because my regular doctor isn't based in the city.😠
thanks guys!
