Well, if one ovary shifts out of place, you've always got the other one there to back you up. I’m dealing with my own set of complications with just one ovary myself—it dropped just like yours did, though my doctor says it’s more of a slight tilt, similar to how someone might have slightly slumped shoulders.

If it's just one clean infection, you'll definitely get through it—usually just antibiotics. Don't panic, though; everything is going to be fine.

My mom just had an ultrasound where they found a clear 2cm cyst on her ovary. The doctor mentioned there’s some kind of septum or partition inside, but if I understood correctly, there’s no blood flow issues and no fluid buildup, which she said is a good sign...
Based on those results, she saw her gynecologist, who recommended getting CA 125 tumor markers checked. He did say there’s no immediate rush, though, because he also thinks it’s likely nothing serious.
Mom is 47. Her last checkup was back in October, and they noticed a little shadow on that ovary then. They advised her to come back for another ultrasound in a few months, which brings us to this recent one. Her cycle is totally fine; the only thing is she gets a sharp, short pain in her lower abdomen every now and then. It happens really rarely and she’s actually felt it even before they discovered the cyst.

Honestly, just hearing the names of those markers sent both of us into a panic!!! Has anyone else dealt with something similar???
Thanks Saloma.

Ever since I stopped taking the pill, my ovulation has become incredibly painful. Does one actually have anything to do with the other? My ovaries feel tight right before my period, but during ovulation, the cramping and tightness hit me day and night. On top of that, my nipples are super sensitive and my discharge has turned into this gelatinous stuff... I’ve never experienced anything like this before. But ever since I quit the pills, I can pinpoint the exact window when ovulation starts and ends, and the pain is just brutal—it's a constant ache for an entire week, combined with the discharge and the nipple sensitivity. Right now, there's this sharp stabbing pain on my left side that's so intense I actually thought it was my kidney! I do deal with cysts frequently, though; last time, I had an 8 cm cyst on my ovary that ruptured on its own right during my period...
Do these painful ovulations have any connection to stopping the pill?

Look, those markers are pretty standard procedure during a cleanup. A value up to 30 is totally normal. Personally, I dealt with a benign tumor that was 7 cm, and my CA 125 was sitting right around 90. When you're actually looking at carcinoma, those numbers skyrocket much higher than that.

I'm crossing my fingers that everything turns out fine...

There was a period where I wasn't sexually active, and shortly after things resumed, I started experiencing pain in my lower abdomen. It began as a dull ache, then transitioned into sharp, intense pains that eventually migrated toward the left side. Honestly, it felt so severe that I had this terrifying sensation like my ovary was going to just slip out... I initially suspected it might be another yeast infection, which used to plague me quite often when I was on birth control, though I haven't taken any pills for about three months now. Aside from that, I've never really dealt with anything like this before.
I went to see my OB-GYN today, and she suggested that it’s likely some kind of cyst. She prescribed some medication intended to trigger a rupture, which should bring on my period immediately afterward.
Could anyone share some insight based on your own experiences regarding cysts in general? I am particularly interested in learning more about the symptoms and anything else you think is relevant. It's just so difficult to wrap my head around how something like this could suddenly manifest out of nowhere...
Thanks

It could be a functional cyst, which often just ruptures on its own. Honestly, things like hormone levels and menstrual cycles are pretty complex. Functional cysts typically develop during ovulation—there are a few different types, I think there are three, and they show up clearly on an ultrasound. So, the doctor likely spotted it during your scan. There is a massive amount of information about cysts online, so a quick Google search should help. When I had a small functional cyst once, it actually ruptured by itself; I just felt a slight sharp pain near my left ovary. My doctor took one look at the ultrasound and told me everything was fine, noting it was just a minor functional cyst. Everything cleared up perfectly by my next period.

So, did they perform an UZV to check it out?!

Hi everyone!

I’ve got a question for the ladies out there who have dealt with a "burst" cyst. Basically, after some spontaneous ovarian issues, I ended up with a cyst (about 6 cm). My doctor told me we should just wait two cycles to see if it pops on its own. Well, I’ve already gone through three cycles now, and I haven't been back for a checkup because my doctor was out of town. I’m wondering—how would I actually know if it burst? I don't mean like, would I hear a loud 🙂 "boom," but more like, would the pain be worse than usual, or would I bleed more than normal?...
I really hope someone gets what I'm asking here, because I'm starting to freak out about how big it might get if it hasn't popped, especially since the pain is constant...
Thanks in advance to everyone!!!

I’ve been dealing with that same dull, sharp stabbing sensation in my lower abdomen as well (if that's even the right way to describe it😬), spreading through my belly and even reaching down into my lower back.
It’s probably just coming from my ovaries, but then again... who knows? It could be cancer, or maybe some kind of tumor... one can never truly be certain, I suppose...🤷

I have an important question for you all:

- how can you tell if an ovarian cyst has actually burst?

Is it more of a sharp, stabbing pain, or does it just feel like those dull, heavy cramps you get during your period?
I’m not sure if one of my cysts just popped... I definitely felt a cramp, but it wasn't like the usual stuff. It lasted way longer and was much more intense than what I'm used to...

Look, I really need answers because this pain is constant. From what I’ve gathered, those things usually burst during your period, but for me, it’s the opposite—my ovaries have been killing me for three months straight during the weeks I *don't* even have my period 😕.
Honestly, I'm starting to freak out. If it grew by a whole centimeter in just one week, what on earth is it going to look like after three months...

I had clear cysts on both ovaries—about 6 cm each. One actually burst (likely ruptured) while I was just sitting there waiting for my surgery, and they ended up operating on the other one.

My gynecological surgeon warned me that a rupture like that can be absolutely brutal—enough to make you pass out from the pain. He described it as this sharp, intense abdominal pain that’s impossible to mistake for your typical period cramps.
Luckily, that wasn't my experience. I have no clue how that cyst just vanished; all I felt was this incredibly uncomfortable pressure in my lower abdomen during my period. I guess it all depends on the specific type of cyst and stuff like that.😕

But, while I was stuck in the hospital, I met a bunch of young women who ended up in emergency surgery because their cysts ruptured after lifting something heavy or straining too hard. To make matters worse, the cysts had twisted around the ovaries, so things got pretty messy for them.

God... it hurts so bad when I try to walk. I legit feel like one leg is shorter than the other. Honestly, I can't even tell if it's worse when I'm walking or just sitting down...
I'm dying for this appointment. This whole waiting game is driving me insane. 😲

I know exactly what you're going through. It was driving me nuts while I was waiting for my surgery. The pain wasn't intense, per se, but there was definitely this constant sensation that something was just *off* on that side. Turns out, my cyst was still growing—it grew about half an inch in just seven days, and honestly, it probably would've kept ballooning if they hadn't gone in and removed it.

Your best bet is to get seen by a serious gynecological surgeon—someone who knows their stuff—to figure out the best move. Look, I'll say it again: even though most of those cysts are benign (I'm assuming you already had your tumor markers checked), they can still wrap themselves around the ovary, rupture painfully, or cause all sorts of internal chaos. So... yeah, book a real specialist ASAP and deal with this.

And seriously, don't panic!😉

I've got an appointment scheduled for March 9th. My pain isn't exactly unbearable—though honestly, after getting cauterized, nothing feels unbearable anymore—but I just have this gut feeling that they haven't burst. I did my markers and everything looked fine. Just hoping things don't change over the next few months. The one thing I can't wrap my head around is why it hurts on both sides when the cyst is only on one ovary... Maybe it's just in my head. 🤷
Thanks for the support!

Hey, that appointment is coming up pretty fast. You'll have some real answers in just a few days.
Fingers crossed everything turns out okay.🙂

How big was your cyst? And how have you been feeling since the surgery—everything going okay?
