Anyone catching any decent sales lately? Looking for a little retail therapy.
Currently rocking a size 14-16.

Since Target stopped carrying Bonprox and BlanchePorte—total bummer. 🕺

I know that Piazza Italia over in Arena Mall carries larger sizes; I picked up an absolutely stunning winter skirt there once.

Then there’s C&A, which occasionally stocks some non-basic, unique pieces that actually look decent and fit properly.

I also cleared out some items from Kik; they sometimes have decent jeans, though it's hit or miss.

As for H&M, they only carry a plus-size section in the Westgate location...

It really is such a shame, isn't it? We see plus-size bloggers being more active than ever globally, and there's this massive body-positivity movement everywhere, yet in reality, you can't find anywhere decent to shop here.

I get it—foreign online shops are the only way to go—but when it comes to bras and pants, I absolutely have to try them on in person.

Even finding boots this winter was a struggle; I finally managed to find a pair that I can actually zip all the way up, but it took forever. 🎉

Scott Patel53, if you ever need anything from the H&M plus size line, you can always just order through the American site; it usually shows up at your door in about 3-4 days. 🙂

If anyone’s going to figure this out, they’ll know better than most.

My favorite pair of jeans is totally shredded between the thighs. I absolutely love them. I picked up some iron-on patches from CVS, but I’m worried. They look obvious from the back, and they definitely show when I sit down—and I tend to sit with my legs wide, like a cowboy. I was thinking about buying some matching denim fabric and taking it to a tailor to have them sew a patch right along the inner seam, just above the crotch area, to blend it all together. Maybe use the exact same wash? Help!

Back when I actually wore jeans—years ago—my mom used to handle the repairs with internal patches. But I wasn't sitting around like some couch potato, so I really didn't care if the fix was visible 😬. Basically, she’d cover the hole from the inside using matching fabric and then somehow force the frayed edges to 🤔—I can't quite explain the mechanics since I don't sew 😁.

My mother used to handle repairs by basically just patching things up on the sewing machine. She’d tuck a scrap of fabric inside—something old, but with a color that matched the denim closely enough—and then just run a mountain of zig-zag stitches over it to hold everything in place. If you knew what to look for, though, you could always spot where the pants had been patched. 🤷

Right now, I'm actually weighing my options on how to bribe my mom into fixing all of my husband's jeans for me, seeing as I don't own a sewing machine and haven't the slightest clue how to operate one. 😵

There's this shop in New York City over on Broadway called Linea... they have a massive selection of formal and casual dresses for plus sizes, pants, tops... larger sizes sell out pretty fast, but you can always find something. They mostly focus on bigger sizes and more professional attire...👍👍👍 👍

Can someone recommend a shop in Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York that carries formal wear for plus-size women without the astronomical price tags? My daughter is getting married soon 🙂

I know you probably want something brand new, but hey—this one is black, a total classic, and maybe works for another occasion too....

Otherwise, I can give you a solid recommendation: Nordstrom. I always find modern yet classic dresses there. I call them "reliable staples." That's where I bought this very dress, too. I go there for other clothes when I want quality at a reasonable price—like coats, for instance. I don't bother with H&M or similar stores; I always head to Nordstrom.

But honestly, you might find something at Target too, provided they have a plus-size section in your local store.

My plan is to pair them with leggings and maybe a long necklace. But here's the thing: I'm in my forties, and I really don't want to look like a grandma. Is this actually a good outfit choice? I'm a little iffy on the leggings part because my legs are pretty muscular, even if the dresses hit near the knee.
Do you guys actually wear leggings? And what else could I wear for everyday looks that's comfortable without looking totally dated?

Joining in here... I wear dresses too, but more like tunics. Rarely leggings—I usually go with skinny jeans, or straight-leg ripped ones, or those thin wide-leg jeans with ties at the bottom ��. By the way, I just bought some tight cotton pants; they look like leggings but they aren't as "clingy," so they don't feel so hot in the summer...��

Everything is fine as long as you feel good in it... for me, this style is just easier, and I don't feel restricted or squeezed ��

I always used to pick mine up at H&M. They actually still carry them, at least on their website! They aren't super tight around the ankles, which is honestly how I prefer them anyway.

Oh, definitely skip the 3XL; you’ll practically be swimming in it!
Personally, I think it just comes down to what you prefer. I'm not much heavier than you, but an XL with some stretch is plenty for me to feel comfortable without feeling like I'm wearing a giant sheet.
Just for comparison, their jeans fit me perfectly true to size.
If you check the measurements on their online shop and compare them to yours, it should be much clearer which way to go. 🙂

It's quite different from somewhere like ASOS. Usually, I'll measure myself up and then order a size larger there, mostly because their stuff feels higher quality, which also means it isn't quite as stretchy.🕺
