You know, if you take a peek over at eBay—the US version, obviously—you’ll notice they have a massive selection of larger sizes available. Just off the top of my head—and I say this with all due respect to the fashionistas out there—brands like Next or New Look tend to carry them, and honestly? You can probably find plenty at places like Old Navy or even Target.

Here’s a link for you, though I wouldn't dare spend money like that myself!

Thank you for providing those additional insights regarding the local shops; however, I find myself in complete agreement with the vast majority of your observations and commentary! 😉

You can actually find larger sizes at Lacoste too (like 44-48), but man, you need some serious luck to catch them in stock. My recent finds? I snagged a size 46 Lacoste A-line skirt $73(on sale!), and a fuchsia pink wide-strap tank in a size 44 $100(also on sale)—both right here in sunny Florida. I’m stoked! Since their shop is right on my way through downtown, I always pop in to see if anything catches my eye. It actually feels like they might be moving clearance items from one store to another, because the stuff on sale now wasn't even in the regular collection when I saw it back in Miami. Even last year, I managed to grab two tops that I hadn't seen anywhere else before.

I was shopping at... Matchesfashion.co.uk. Hands down the best. So, you type in your zip code—let’s say 90210—and what happens? The screen just fills up with designer handbags, leather belts, and scarves. Not a single piece of actual clothing in sight! I am actually dying here. 😂

Here’s how the UK sizes line up:
12 is our 40
14 is 42
16 is 44
18 is 46
20 is 48
22 is 50
24 is 52
26 is 54
28 is 56, and so on..
You might want to check eBay too when you're looking for extra large sizes...

Evans isn't shipping to the States, and I am dying to get my hands on that entire Beth Ditto collection. 🙂

So, I usually just grab my stuff at Target or somewhere similar—just whatever's easy, you know? But ever since C&A opened up, I’ve actually managed to snag a few pieces that I really, really dig. For jeans, though, I always head over to the local tailor because they can hem them perfectly right then and there, but honestly, their sizing is such a mess lately. It’s driving me nuts! I’ll probably have to go hunt for some elsewhere if I want anything to actually fit properly.

To be perfectly honest, I have developed a genuine phobia of walking into boutiques and asking for a size 44 top or a 48 pant. Every single time—and I mean ABSOLUTELY every time—the sales associate gives me this once-over look before dropping a comment like, "We don't carry such large sizes." Or even worse, they say it with that condescending little smirk! 🙄 Consequently, over the last couple of years, I have stuck strictly to "tried and true" stores where I know they carry my size. Thank you so much for the tip; I will certainly make a point to stop by the Lacoste locations nearby and see how the fit works out.😍

What even counts as a size 44 or 48??? I mean—don't get me wrong—I can barely find a decent pair of pants for myself in a size 38 or 40 without a massive struggle.
🙂I actually know people who are rocking a 52 or 54.

I remember this one time I was out shopping with my aunt at some boutique over on Fifth Avenue—she was hunting for a size 42 or 44—and the sales clerk had the nerve to just bluntly tell her that if she wanted that range, she should probably check out the Maxx store down the hallway...
That is just plain rude...

Between my sister, who’s a 44+, and my mom, who’s easily a 52+, I’ve spent a fair amount of time browsing through those larger sizes.
And honestly, back when we were in that suburb near Philadelphia, there used to be this shop called Trendy Maxx that carried really cool stuff for size 44 and up—but they closed down.
C&A has some decent options, but my sister isn't a fan because the waistlines aren't low enough—she basically wants pants that show off everything, if you know what I mean.
There's a Kik in a small town near the border that carries bigger sizes,
and then you've got Maxx in the city.

I don't know—my mom often buys from these specific vendors at local flea markets who order larger stock, but then again, a 55-year-old isn't exactly dressing like a 25-year-old...

What I'm really trying to figure out is where a 15-year-old can find clothes—say, pants in a size 44 but with looser tops—that won't break the bank and actually looks "cool"? Though, I'm not quite sure what "cool" means to her lately, since we dug through a mountain of stuff at a thrift shop and she decided none of it was "in."
I have been absolutely exhausted searching for pants for my sister—everything is either too shallow or just way too small. She’s looking for those super tight, skinny-fit legs, but let's be real—they won't fit a size 44 because the leg openings are usually wide enough to fit an entire arm through.🙂

I don't know if anyone else caught this yet... but up on Zvonimirova, right at the top of the hill, there's this shop with a sign in the window claiming they carry larger T-shirt sizes... I just spotted it while riding the streetcar.🤷🤷🤷

So, you actually bothered to trek all the way out to the Grand Canyon, and yet somehow you still couldn't manage to find a decent pair of jeans? Unbelievable.
I’m betting you mean either those super skinny cuts or that new jeggings trend. If you're looking for size 16, Target carries them up to a size 20 in pretty much every color imaginable. You want navy, black, gray? Or maybe the ones with the glittery button instead of the plain ones?🤷

If she can’t even squeeze into denim jeans, forget about anything else—she's going to be struggling upstairs too. They're clearly too small. Honestly, maybe she isn't a size 12, but a 14? I wear a size 10 and they fit me perfectly fine; the only issue is when I wear a size 8 and everything starts outlining. If a 12 is actually her size, I highly doubt she wouldn't be able to fit into a pair of skinny jeans.

She’s got the right size, honestly—but she absolutely hates the cut. She’s dead set on finding something super skinny, you know? She tried a size 32, but she couldn't even get them buttoned because the rise is way too deep—she wants a low-rise look, something shallower. If she could just go a bit deeper with the fit without everything spilling out, they’d actually look great on her.
I picked up some straight-leg ones at Gap, and when she tried those on, they looked fantastic—except, well, the high waist... she thinks it looks "frumpy," if you catch my drift.
But man, good luck convincing a fifteen-year-old to wear something that actually looks good on her instead of just mimicking what her forty-five-pound friends are wearing.🙂

We actually found a wider cut over at Macy's—higher waist, but not *too* high, sitting well below the navel—but she won't touch them. I don't even know anymore; Mom has officially given up on the hunt, but I’m still out here looking.🙂

She usually wears a US 10 or 12 depending on the brand, and most things fit her perfectly—except for those ultra-skinny styles, since she’s got really strong legs. But you can't talk sense into her.🤷

Last Friday, I picked up some skinny black jeans at Dorothy's in a US size 16, then spotted an updated version of the exact same style for $73. My old pair was a $33. I also have those dark wash ones from this summer—tried them on with the jeggings, and they use the same sizing as the dark blues and the grays.
The dark blue ones have been stocked since July at both the downtown mall and the outlet. Honestly, I don't get how you haven't seen them when they come in three different colors 🤷
. Those sizes 30 or 32 you mentioned? Those are Top Shop and Miss Selfridge measurements; they aren't the same as what people wearing a size 42 would grab, even though I own a couple of pairs from Top Shop myself.

Maybe we did see them, but we just weren't feeling them—I don't really keep tabs on everything anymore...
She ended up getting a pair from Urban Republic—olive green with stripes—but they’re a bit big on her and, frankly, totally out of style. She was pretty blunt about it, calling them "ugh."
I think I'll head over to Target tomorrow to check things out. If they have some that actually look good, I might grab a pair for her to try—if they fit, great; if not, we'll just swap them out.

She’s old enough that you should either give her the best option available or just let her wear whatever she wants if she's unhappy.🤷
I wouldn't make such a huge deal out of it. Personally, I’d rock mini skirts with killer boots and thick tights, but it doesn't always work. Look, you just have to accept reality if you aren't going on a diet.😁

There’s this one pair of pants she keeps trying to wear, but everything else just doesn't fit anymore—that’s really the core of the issue.
The thing is, every single suggestion I make as an older sister gets shot down immediately; apparently, I’m just totally out of touch with what's cool these days.
And let’s be real, I’m not even *that* much older—I definitely know what's currently in style.

Basically, most of the small sizes available now are like a US size 10 or 12, which means she actually needs something larger. I've been looking...

I can't stand those clerks in boutiques where the clothes are overpriced—they act like working in a high-end shop automatically makes them geniuses or supermodels. Like, sorry, you're just selling sweaters here! Though, to be fair, you occasionally find a decent, nice girl there, but it's rare. That’s why I prefer shopping at places where they actually know me. The staff are normal people who pretty much know my style and what fits, so it's way less of a headache.

I honestly can't tell if they count bras for plus sizes under the same category 🙂

I was scrolling through the sales list today and noticed some much higher discounts—some were actually pretty decent, too
